Unofficial Dark Brotherhood Discussion

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 4:48 pm

I am making this thread to try to help keep the forum from millions of Dark Brotherhood threads. So this will be the official discussion thread for it.

For those of you who don't know, The Dark Brotherhood was confirmed at QuakeCon during the 40 minute demo.

All we know about it so far is that you pick up a note that contains a hand print which is the logo of the Black Hand. The note also contained text right under the hand print that said "We Know"

P.S I have asked Pete if Daggers and Short Swords are in Skyrim. He confirmed that Daggers will be in but didn't say anything about short swords. But not having short swords in Skyrim won't bother me at all since I rarely used them in Oblivion.

Discuss anything Dark Brotherhood related here.
Feel free to add any other details and I will add them to this post.

as much as i loved the quests i hope that they arent as unproffesional and maniacal as they were on OB. i dont mind one or two characters that are a bit off but all of them sounded like they just escaped an asylum. no wonder the nightmother wanted them all dead.

Just to add Todd also made a comment at the same point, pretty much verbally confirming it too :)

My only thought about it really though is that they make it more serious than in Oblivion. I found it to be almost a joke in the latter.

Well they are in the Dark Brotherhood, They're suppose to be crazy :toughninja:

And I found the Dark Brotherhood storyline to be a little short in Oblivion. I didn't expect to beat it that quickly. Hopefully the quest line in Skyrim is a lot longer.

Sorry to be slightly OT, but that pretty much confirms no shortswords. He has taken your question as are EITHER daggers or shortswords in, perhaps intentionally twisting his interpretation to avoid openly stating lack of shortswords (they hate to have to say that stuff directly and will put it off forever) and saying that the answer is yes, but only because of the inclusion of daggers.

I want to see a much more organized and professional dark brotherhood in skyrim that is clearly integrated as well as infiltrated in society with crooked guards and whatnot.

It doesn't really bother me, He confirmed Daggers so I am happy. Can't have a professional Assassin without Daggers! :tes:

I'm afraid you're right. The QuakeCon demo showed the weapons as simply "Glass Sword" or "Imperial Sword," with no distinction between whether it was a shortsword or longsword.

Ah this Thread I like...
I loved the Brotherhood quests and I'm sure they have an equal, if not better, one in Skyrim. :P

I hope that when you (possibly) become leader of the Dark Brotherhood the questline won't end. I hope that you might be able to enjoy the benefit of being leader of such a faction, and not simply get over it and carry on another faction etc.. Kinda like the same thing as becoming arch-mage, what is there to do once you're at the top? Not even some recognition!

Anyone agree?

I know the quests are going to be awesome. I just want the story to be longer and not so short like it was in Oblivion. The Dark Brotherhood quests were probably the shortest out of all the guilds.

The other day Bethesda confirmed The Dark Brotherhood and implied you could join them, but how would you like the ranking to be handled. For example higher ranking members can give you orders or ask for your help and vice versa with lower ranking members.

Also when you complete a contract you have to wait between a week and a month for another contract. And as you rank up other members also do contracts and when they come back they tell you how their contract went weather they succeeded or not.

Members should sometimes die on their contracts so the guild would have to recruit new members, so if you become Speaker a quest might be to recruit a random killer.

The first thing I'm going to mod is the text of that note saying "We know what you did last summer".

Each storyline quest should have a few radiant story generated quests between to fill it out, make your progression feel more earned, and make it feel like a real guild.

After a thousand hours of playing Oblivion, DB was the only guild I finished all the quests for.

The note they give you is very creepy and awesome (you know assuming it's given after your first killing of an innocent like in Oblivion).

Imagine another who done it? style quest in Skyrim with the enhanced A.I. and maybe even influence from Radiant Story.

My obvious straightforward answer?
Death

But it can't be that simple

I hope there will be a marked for death spell once you become the leader of the Dark Brotherhood. once a character is marked an assassin will appear from the shadows and strike the target down and then disappear without a trace.
