I've been exploring the Exalted Plains for the last couple of nights, that's one big area. Took me a while to work out how to solve the Dead Hand puzzle and have picked up some good loot in the area. Level 13 at the moment and enjoying the game immensely. I'm on the Xbox One which is the only platform not to get the second patch for some reason although I've had no problems with the game whatsoever so far so maybe it doesn't require the patch.
Have gone with a warrior for my first play through and I'm thinking about going with a mage when I finally finish this first adventure. Anyone playing a mage, if so are they fun to play?

I've only played a little 2H, but mage vs dual-wield are different, and fun in their own ways. With dual-wield I have to constantly watch my primary character, so it's more hands on, and fights end relatively fast.

Fights are slower with a mage, and I tend to switch between different characters more often, because I don't have to worry about my main character dying if he's left alone for a few minutes.

I think 2H will be in-between. You'll have a little "space" to swap between characters, and fights will be faster than with an extra mage, but slower than with a rogue. My limited experience is that 2H needs some consistent attention to survive, but not as much as a dual-wielder.

Mages, especially if you tend to stick mostly with a main character in combat, are somewhat like orchestral conductors. They control and guide the battle, but aren't the big damage dealers. They're good in dragon fights, though.

My Knight Enchanter says hi.

Sure, he can't do as much damage as DW rogue, but it's hard to compete with a class that can optimally do 4000+ points of damage.
