Just created a Human Sword and Shield Warrior, I will turn him into a Templar, and he will romance Cassandra.

I like his look a lot.

I've got a story question...for those far into it.

Spoiler
So, the Elder one can control(?) or make Grey wardens hear the call, right? So why would he attack the empress of Orlais? Why not go after...ya'know, the king of Ferelden? If Alistair (Who is also a Grey warden) were to die, imagine the chaos Ferelden would be in. Does the Elder one give a reason later on in the story?

Do a reload. Sometimes your character glitches when healing, dying. A reload usually fixes it.

Goodness, I am loving this game! So much fun, been a long time since a game grabbed me like this. Also, i am running it on Ultra high and it is pretty gorgeous. Shame that the UI and stuff is more geared toward console set-ups and not PC mouse. I wish that wasn't the case, but like Skyrim, I just deal... not one to rage about stuff like that even if it the thing to do on the internetz.

Some advice - explore the Hinterlands, but at a certain point, go to the other places you have opened up, so you can pick up other companions.

Loving the puzzles and tons of random stuff. Like.. hmmm, why is there a spinning wheel on a rocky promontory along the Storm Coast. I will never know, but I laughed when I made my way there.

I am not as attached to my companions as I was in DAO, BUT... they are well written so far and you can get layers of info from them. The voice acting is good, and Sera in the party is always hilarious. Like Bill too, couldn't believe that was Freddie Prinze Jr., he's done a bang up job.

I've not had any major buggy issues, game is running great for me and I just want to keep playing.

I just took a break now because I was exploring the

Spoiler
Dwarven Outpost after dealing with smugglers and ran into an UNKILLABLE ALHPA TERMINATOR-LIKE Hurlock. Holy hell, on normal, it was brutal. Only Varrick was alive at any point in time, running around and reviving party members because the hurlock was slow, but he armored up while that was happening and just murdered everyone in the face again. Guess I will return there later to continue explorations. Yeesh.

Just checking in. This game is right up my alley so far.

EDIT: Also "Lord Woolsey"... LOL.

Are any router ports needed to be open and unimpeded for Dragon Age Inquisition to communicate with Dragon Age Keep? Origin seems to work okay (at least the purchasing and whatnot) and I can at least start up several other Bioware games, but DLC is out of the question with them because of connection needs beyond Origin's to authenticate.

And no, I cannot open them easily. Network security settings are beyond my direct control here.

Actually, if you're in Valammar:

Spoiler
you should finish the level. It's actually smaller than it seems, so you probably don't want to return there later to be disappointed.

I had the exact same thing happen, with Varric as the sole survivor, BTW. I ran away hoping to heal and draw them out, but found that all 3 of my companions teleported to my feet after I'd retreated through a couple of rooms. So I revived them and easily won the fight against the injured Alpha. It would have felt cheap, but I was so surprised by what happened that I just continued. It didn't sink in for a few minutes or I would probably have reloaded.

BTW, does anybody have a favorite party, or favorite party for a specific area, yet? I'm finding it hard to resist Iron Bull and Sera, though they're probably my least favorite NPCs. Iron Bull seems to have more dialogue than most NPCs, too. Sera is insane, but her dialogue and voice actress are so good that I always want her around, just to hear what she says.

This is what http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/#1. There's also http://help.ea.com/en/article/programs-that-may-cause-conflicts-with-origin/, which says that proxying and IP masquerading aren't allowed, among other things. Way to go, EA.

Origin is not the problem. What does DAI itself need?

Just thought I would make sure, you exported your world state into Inquisition from the Keep webpage right?

I have not even bought the game yet, I want to see if it's even worth it. If I can't access my Keep info in the game itself, there's no point in getting it at all. I'm rather averse about buying a game that I have a bad feeling will run afoul of the infuriatingly restrictive home LAN security setup I am subject to for one of its most prominent game-start features, and I do not want to play the game through the probably crapsack world state that is "default".

I'm hoping it's "If Origin can connect, then so can DAI". Otherwise, I am afraid I'll have to miss out on DAI.

My party is my Harold a Fire/Shock mage. With Cassandra, Iron Bull, and Varric. I find two tanks, and a rogue complement my mage exceptionally well.

Spoiler
Story reason: Because Orlais is arguably the most powerful country in Thedas. Ferelden is still trying to rebuild in the aftermath of the Blight.

Gameplay reason: Origin's ending created too many variables to count for - there is: King Alistair alone*, Queen Anora alone, King Alistair + Queen Anora, Queen Anora + King Cousland, and King Alistair + Queen Cousland.

Meanwhile, there's one defined ruler of Orlais - Celene is always in charge, no matter what you did in Origins.

Note: This is speculation, I haven't started the Orlesian Civil War arc yet.

*When I say "alone", it means no Queen - I know that non-noble female Wardens can become Alistair's mistress.

That's best asked at the Bioware site. I know you need Origin for at least one-time authentication on PC. Most software these days can work over ports 80 and 443, which pretty much every firewall and protection software will allow through (standard web ports).

I know you have a restricted connection, but is it fast? Because there's a money back guarantee through Origin, and from what I've heard they're reasonable about returns. So you can buy, download, then return the game if something doesn't work. Also, the Keep and the export to the game are both a little buggy. I had to change some of the Keep settings twice, and create a new character to get the setup I wanted. You also have to be logged in to Origin to import from the Keep, though technically that just has to work long enough for it to connect and download the world data.

That's right, I forgot to take in to account the multiple endings for the throne. Jeez, you'd think I never played Origins. :sadvaultboy:

Alright, I've been doing a lot of grinding, exploring etc and I now have 39 power points. Haven't even chosen a side yet....was thinking about starting the main quest after I'm level 13. Still not sure.

Anybody beat any High Dragons? My younger brother beat two of them already.

My favorite party depends on the circumstance (for instance, I tend to use Dorian/Cole/Iron Bull for closing Rifts, as it maximizes my ability do damage to demons, because so many of them have immunities or resistances, and I made Dorian ice/fire in addition to his specialization while I use lightning spells for damage). I tend to use Cole a LOT though, especially after i figured out after giving him his current skills, he can easily hit opponents for more than 1000 points of damage (I'm on Hard mode, not Nightmare so maybe not as impressive, but I feel Nightmare would make the MQ way too tough, I had to reduce difficulty during a certain main quest part because I had repeated party wipes. Probably didn't help I was on the lower end of the recommended level thing). Also, I think he's kind of adorable and I understand now why before the game was released, so many people were going to baby him. I put him with Blackwall once and just about died when he asked about the "shield on his face." :lmao:

Spoiler
I'm assuming you're talking about Mages vs Templars? You should be able to handle it. I think the recommended levels are 8-12, so it's possible you might not even get XP from the enemies. I found the last bit kind of difficult.

So what are your Harolds like? Mine is named Claire. And he's somewhat full of it. At first he wanted nothing more than to just go home. But shortly after he closed the first big rift. And was celebrated as a hero he started to let the fame go to his head.

He currently fully believes he's the Harold. And strives to do right by the name.

I just did In Your Heart Shall Burn.

All I can say is WOW. That was awesome!! I already knew that one guy was in this game but it's been a while since I played that one DLC. But yeah, that was REALLY good.

My Herald is a Dalish mage named Taerel. I play him as a goody two shoes trying hard to keep everyone happy while also trying to ensure the mages and elves benefit from all of this in the end, but he's not leader ship material at all. It's probably gonna break him up at some point.

My Harold is a qunari mage who still isn't convinced he's really and truly the Harold, and is doing his best to do good. He might have put too many points in his Empathy skill.

Spoiler
He also decided to make Alexius work for the mages without pay for the rest of his life as punishment for what he did in Redcliffe. I lol'd that Alexius said being killed would have been kinder. :P

That what he gets. I should've picked that option...

Spoiler
I chopped his head off :D Did they ever mention what happened to his son? I know he was dying and all but..where'd he go?

I have this strange bug where my character now speaks like the voice 1 instead of the voice 2 that I picked. It's really strange and only started happening when-

Spoiler
I talked to Hawke at Skyhold.
