Unofficial ESO thread #2

The title says it all. Let's talk about anything and everything ESO-related. :) A new article was just posted, http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/2016/01/12/eso--the-year-ahead Some interesting info: veteran rank removal on its way, text chat on consoles, optional nameplates and scrolling combat text. The Thieves Guild will be on PTS in February, spellcrafting is still on the backburner and the Justice System PvP component has been scrapped. Thankfully, they spared us another "barber shop coming Soon?" line. :P

I do like the limited UI on the Consoles and even then I think it has a bit too much information. I do not mind if it is optional. Hopefully they give us more options to disable more features on the UI.

I hope you can disable the text chat since I do not want to be spammed with junk.

I hope they do bring in a spell crafting and maybe skill crafting as well since I do find some of the skills to be quite limiting but more on the Spells. What I am looking forward is being able to summon an army of minions like a D2 Necromancer (my favorite class in Diablo 2)

I think tonight I might try making a Wood Elf Archer Night Blade or Archer Dragon Knight. Night Blade would likely fit much better because of some of the stealth features. I do not recall what Dragon Knight is better suited for. Then again I like to build ugly builds.

I enjoy the console UI, I tend to play on my laptop with a controller, which switches the UI. Glad we're getting the option to show our characters name! The UI switches to your username. Good for text chat on the console, it will make Rping in the console easier!

TG and DB sound like fun, I'll make sure to test out the PTS when it comes out (only two more weeks!)

No barber shop and nothing on housing yet, maybe we'll get surprised? :P

When I checked the Road Ahead, I'm pretty sure it mentioned those two, though not much more than a SoonTM

It's great to have a kind-of sort-of ETA, though. Within the year is ever-so slightly better than the It's ComingTM of the past couple of months. I'm glad that name-changing is also a thing that's coming. Just in case.

I'm curious to see what new game mechanics the Dark Brotherhood DLC will bring. Best part about it is it's coming in Q2 when I'm a useless slob all the time.

Also looks like what was once considered hearsay is true, the player justice system isn't going to happen. Can't say I'm not disappointed, but I kind of had already given up on it. Hope the spell crafting actually does come, though. I want more Frost magic.

Soon™ in ESO time usually means 2 years in real time. :P

I'm quite happy with the minimalist UI. I do use some add-ons but nothing that adds more combat info. Then again I'm not and never expect to be an "elite" player. The most useful add-ons to me are Votan's Fish Fillet and CookeryWiz. Since I'm too obsessive to throw away anything that time I'd over a thousand fish to fillet and cook would've been unbearable without them.

I would like to respond to your comment from the last thread about "ganking"...

Ganking players whom are just exploring, collecting skyshards, doing quests, or other things like that is a flat-out [censored] move. There is NO WAY around it. Ganking those types of people, such as camping skyshards/NPCs, is one of the biggest assaholic moves you can do in PvP in any MMO type of game (not just Elder Scrolls Online).

Ganking in general PvP activity (such as doing a surprise attack on a group of enemy players whom are setting up siege weaponry) is completely fine and normal gameplay. I respect that greatly.

However, the moment you gank people who aren't even bothering you or don't wish to bother you but rather do their own thing... You are being an [censored] who is only thinking about themselves and their own fun. These players are just trying to complete their own objection and having fun in their way and by killing them, you are being disrespectful and disgraceful of their own time and even waste it (assuming you win).

This is something that ZOS needs to work on and fix. I even had an idea of allowing a neutral faction be possible who can't be attacked, can't be part of PvP, can't earn APs, and earns very little to no experience for their level/skill in general while being neutral. For those players whom wants to collect skyshards, explore Cyrodiil, or other related things to have their own enjoyment...

Gotta remember, games are suppose to be fun for every type of player and MMOs supports plenty of different players so ZOS has to balance the game accordingly.

Also, I have nothing against PvP and gladly take part of it at times but I'm not fully into it. I go to Cyrodiil for enjoyment reasons and maybe even explore Cyrodiil once again (just without the crappy mechanics from Oblivion).

Lastly, please excuse me for my language. I just don't really know a proper word to replace the one I've used.

It is still faster than Blizzard when they say soon. I think Blizzard owns that trademark

I knew it was in the works for a long time, but I didn't know that they've been saying that for so long. :U

I'm also wondering if the 15 Skill/Attribute points will go poof with the VR removal.

I saved Jessica's post from August 2014 just so that I could remind her it's been so long every time I see her with another "we're working on it, but no ETA!" :P

Nope, we'll get more points every fifth level (sometimes more than 2). Tbh, I'd rather they were removed altogether, it would be cleaner. But I guess they don't want to risk outraging the playerbase.

I bought the PC version since I was having quite a bit of graphical glitches at time and besides my Xbox One drive is getting quite full and ESO is quite large.

Just an add to the discussion about community in ESO. I bought a Barbaric motif for 220 gold then felt guilty and messaged my guildmate asking if it was a mistake and offering to return it. He/she said no, they already had it and wanted it to go to a guild mate. They have now offered to help me on my 1st dungeon. There are decent people out there.

Has it happened to you? it might simply be another group out for the shard, few will do ganking if its not an flow of enemies to gank.

Then its far better to hide on the path between an enemy castle and an fight and intercept the ones riding towards the fight alone or in small groups.

this is legitime tactic and an way for an small group to make an effect, enemy reinforcements are slowed down and they will either have to group up or hunt you down.

On the other hand most will kill an lower level enemy if they run into them.

I was part of an insanely fun ambush, two lower level players and 10-12 higer level once, female low level dress off and dance, male plays lute.

None thought its an trap we even managed to kills some fools twice. After more than half an hour they sent an large group to hit us.

Basically this happened. A group of 4-6 people were camping a skyshard constantly. So I gotten a group to go take them out. It was the last skyshard I needed for the EP Cyrodiil area and wanted to get it. Funniest thing, it was a group of DC people and the spot was between EP and AD... So there was literally no reason for them to be there except to camp it.

I would increase xp from PvP but make it linked to achieving objectives.

eg bonus to xp from fighting in vicinity of keeps and resources, bonus xp for capturing keeps and resources etc

This would answer the PvP complaint that they have to do PvE or grind to effectively level up and hopefully make fighting the war a more attractive option than ganking PvE players

There will always be some griefers but there should be some extra risk to adventuring in a warzone
