[RELz] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch #2

How can I tell whether the game is running with the UFO3 patch installed? I checked it in the 'Data Files' menu along with all my DLCs, but I have encountered a cluster of floating rocks somewhere near Littlelamplight which begged me to ask the said question.

Fallout 3 is huge, I can't fix everything in 2 releases... follow the bug reporting guide lines and post a report on the bug tracker. Also do take note if you're using Fallout 3 v1.5 then that will undo alot of UF3P's fixes as v1.5 has some serious bugs :(

Ah that would probably be why as I'm using 1.5 right now. I'll also be sure to submit as many bug reports as I can, then. Oh and keep up the good work. I know how hard it can be - practically rehashing the entire game. ;)

Hey Quarn,

Using your patch and want to say thanks and also report what I think is a bug.


I'm pretty fresh into a new game, I spoke to the Doc in Megaton and the dialogue option for the Android was there, talking to the Doc about it adds it to my quest list. I had picked up the holotape and I had been to Rivet City, but I didn't speak to anyone; I just picked up the Intelligence BobbleHead and ran off. Can I finish it now that I've got it at that stage? Should I even have it at this stage? I don't think that I should have the dialogue option until I've started the quest sooner.

The android quest can be started in a few different ways from what I've noticed, talking to Zimmer directly is one way, overhearing conversations about it is another and finding holotapes (In any order.) is a third method.

an issue with broken steel is crash on exit with patch 1.5
i am in offline mode with fomm & fose. I thought gfwl was disabled by fose, so no crash on exit

Bug tracker should be functioning - is working for me, Quarn is able to use it. If your still having issues let me know - Only thing I can think of is your system is still using the cached DNS from the old location, you can see if you can fix this yourself.

Goto Windows Start Menu > Run
Type in CMD (hit enter)
In the black command line box that opens type ipconfig /flushdns
Close the Command Line (black window) then reboot your PC.

Let me know if it is still not working for you afterwards, can give you a different link that should work fine. Just PM me be easier than hijacking this thread :)

I haven't seen this yet so sorry if its been posted already.

Found Workaround: Crash on save when traveling from Girdershade

Upon discovering Girdershade when I quick-traveled I would crash on any save. If I run while quick-saving every 1 or 2 seconds eventually I will reach a "crash distance" where any save crashes the game. I launch Fallout 3 and load the quick-save. Then I can quick-travel and save normally. If I travel back to Girdershade I have to repeat the process.

I am assuming that the crash happens before the saving actually starts since the available quick-save appears to be flawless. There is a sweet spot at some distance from Girdershade a bit before the crash distance where you may be able to just quick-travel normally. I can't remember if I reloaded the most recent quick-save at my estimated sweet spot before I quick-traveled or not. At any rate I managed to travel to Girdershade and walk some distance and quick travel without causing the crash on save.

Somehow I managed to squash the bug altogether. I can't reproduce it but I was messing around saving/reloading/crashing and screwing with the console command "disable" while having the brahmin selected. When I managed to stumble on the permanent fix I was walking away while looking to see where exactly the cow disappeared from my view. It's so mountainous it was a pain so it took a while. Time spent away might have had something to do with it. I was traveling on the north side of the highway in an easterly direction scoping the town. Once fixed it didn't seem to matter what I did, the game wouldn't crash.

I don't know other areas where the unofficial patch adds things that will cause the crash on save but this will probably work for those as well.

I can't remember, but the next version is going to be an ESM, right? Does that mean it'll be 1.5 compatible?

Yeah if I read it right the next version is going to be a small update that converts it to an esm.

Just checking and I'm not 100% if this is the right place but are you planning on fixing the Vault 112/Tranquility lane crashes in the next update? My MQ is at a standstill ATM because of these.

I'm guessing that the transition to Tranquility lane bug is similar to the 10th birthday camera flash issue that people are having.

From what I've heard most of those are caused by bad system setups, [email=quarny@gmail.com]email me[/email] a gamesave before the event if you want and we'll see what it really is...

May want to check vault 112 I have turned off every mod I have to check, since upgrading to 1.5 the game no longer registers me sitting in the tranquility lounger. So I can't complete the quest, the screen goes white then fades back in and I'm still sitting the lounger. I can no longer progress through the game because of this bug.

ran into a pitt bug. i got to the pitt and after werner and i killed the people waiting for us, i decided to loot there bodies. werner continued walk on and when i had finished looting, werner was gone, but the gate was still locked. Luckily i had a save just before leaving for the pitt and i followed him and talked to him after he opened the gate and then looted the bodies.
also, autoaxe blade disappears. 000bc82

Quick question, basically, what would happen if I ran the unofficial patches without the textures and mesh resources? Would I be able to to benefit from the quest fixes without having the various texture and geometry fixes?

For whatever mysterious reason Fallout will not run properly on my pc with *any* mod that replaces any meshes or textures..it's a long running thing since before v1.5 so it's not related to that.

Sorry for being dense but if we are using 1.5 we should NOT install UF3P? We should only use UF3P if we are at 1.4 with fake patch? I am asking because I have Steam version, patched automatically and I do not want to uninstall and reinstall again. Thanks for your time and hard work Quarn!

in quarn's current patch, he change the cow in gridershade. That means when u go rhru there, u won't be able to save, u get ctd instead of a save.

I have been using this Unoffcial patch for quite some time but I never bothered to read what it actually changes. :P

One thing captured my attention.

Fixed VATS accuracy perk's (Commando, Wired Reflexes, Gunslinger) not working which was broken in v1.1, this is a workaround that requires FOSE to function and ONLY works on the existing VATS perks (New Quest: UF3PVATSPerksFix, New Script: UF3PVATSPerksFixScript, New Global Veriable: UF3PVATSFixOff).


English is not my native language so I am sorry if I don't follow this, and correct me if I'm wrong. :)

ONLY works on existing VATS perks? You mean, works on perks which were in the vanilla game (commando, gunslinger etc.) and not on perks which were added by mods or what?

another bug. Head of state, Hannibal 239dd
i went to Lincoln memorial and killed the slavers there without talking to them. they started shooting on my bots. got confirmation that area was cleared after clearing minefield.
went to museum of history and got lincoln items and returned to Hannibal and confirmed they were leaving for Lincoln memorial
they showed up at subway but they will not go to the Lincoln memorial
i tried using prid to call him there and talked to him. The quest didn't update and he left the area.
i did notice that sila's body and the other slavers was missing and walker's body was still there

did quest a 2nd time, found 6 slavers besides walker & silas. I got update that area was clear after last of slavers were dead and didn't clear the mine field. talked and killed silas and walker inside maintenance room under memorial. Hannibal finalized quest as soon as i talked to him and subway entrance. beth fixed the rake and Hannibal when he pulls his gun.

i am patched to 1.5 and have all 3 DLCs in offline mode.

That quest is notorious for having bugs. I had the same thing happen to me and I had to restart the quest from a previous saved game. I'm looking forward to the day when Quarn gets that quest sorted out.

1.4 does not fix the VATS bug (made VATS much worse actually), so you need UF3P to fix the perks for you.

It fixes the VATS perks if you're running Fallout Script Extender but it doesn't fix the delay.

i did the nuke cola plant today and ran into a bug.
milo, 0004d5b9, didn't give me any spech options, just asked is there anything else that i can do for u. i had to kill milo to get r&d key and password.
