Final Fantasy VI 3DS.

Probably is, yeah. I don't think I would like that, though. Playing the game in 3D and not with the 2D sprites would be heresy :P

I know V isn't very popular, but I don't think they'd skip over it and go straight to VI. A while back they said they had a Final Fantasy V remake planned for the DS, but held off once the 3DS was announced to decide where to put their resources. I'd expect V before VI, though I kinda doubt the secret remake is anything Square-related to be honest.

Edit- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsTkWYPf0LM&hd=1. I think I saw some side paths, puzzles and some NPCs! ^_^

Gameplay looks exactly the same as XIII. It looks like I should wait until it's lower in price but I'll check the reviews 1st.

I think FFXII was a huge step in the right direction after FFX and FFXI (didn't really care about those two at all). There are things I didn't like with the game though, like Vaan or the License Board, but overall I think it was superb. Then FFXIII and FFXIV arrived and removed all that progress to the extreme.

I only played two Final Fantasy games in the main series. I loved XII, but was severely disappointed in XIII (Lightning's a cool character, but the game is so linear with a horrible character progression system, in my opinion. I actually liked the license board.). XIV seems to be regarded as a pile of guar dung, but I haven't played it nor do I have any intention of doing so. I just don't like MMOs, in general, really.

I'd say so, arguably the best version of the game. The music was better in the PlayStation release, but folks complained about the load times (like all of Square's SNES releases on PSone).

By far my favorite. If you liked the pre-VII titles in particular then you should really like IX. It was Square's attempt at going back to the classic formula, after VII and VIII's more sci-fi approach.

The Linearness and lack of grinding opportunitys was a big turnoff. Not to mention the fact that they only allowed you to go so far on their progression grid until you had to stop and get past the next area.

Yeah and a good job they did. Tied for my second favorite next to VIII. Great music, fun gameplay. Character development was interesting too and then you have the frog woman, hahahah. Good old blue magic. Plus that touch of romance made it all worth while. Still haven't been able to beat uh Ozma though.

IX was a pretty good game, although I don't know if I like the characters all too well.

Four words: darkness absorption or immunity. For eight's Omega Weapon it's only two words: Holy War :hehe: Still haven't found the words for ten's Omega Weapon (actually never even seen it) or 12's Yiazmat or... whatever the superboss of 13 is

And yes, nine is the best of PS1 era, and twelve is better than ten and 13 is not as bad as some would have you believe :bolt:

What do you guys think of 8's system? I'm talking about the juntion.. To be honest I quit the game when I was younger because I couldn't understand it. I picked it up again recently and fully understand it now and I have to say 8 is a great game, pretty awesome story I'm on disc 3 still.

It's a tie between this and FF2 for me. Stupid grindy learning-by-doing nonsense. It really didn't work well.

Urgh, my characters were so bad by the time I reached the snow caves for the Goddess Bell. There was no defend option so to conserve MP in long dungeons, your mages had to attack physically, lowering magic power. My spells leveled up faster than MP, so I was stuck with even more powerful spells that consumed more MP, bringing me right back to the aforementioned MP conservation issues.

Shame it was such a headache too, because I loved the story in Final Fantasy II.

Nemesis wasn't that tough in X, just use Haste, Quick attack and make sure Yuna gets the last round so that she can summon to block Nemesis's attack. XII's Yazimat isn't incredibly powerful but he has a ridiculous amount of health 62 million. I beat him but it took forever.

Yeah I'm trying to build my characters up in 9 still. Well that was 5 years ago, I haven't played since haha. I beat 8's Omega weapon, and yeah Holy War it was. 10's Omega Weapon was easy, it's the created monsters you have to worry about and I haven't beat all of them yet..that damn slug is tough tough..you need like maxed sphere grid to beat him. Same with 12's Yiazmat. 12 had a lot of hard optional bosses, I beat one of them...but I got a lot more to do in that game..and also haven't played it for about 4 years.

I really liked 8's system actually, it was interesting. 8 was my first Final Fantasy so it always holds a special place for me and I really like the story.

Bad. For several reasons.

1). Casting spells is useless. Spells are no different than items, you need to stockpile a decent inventory, through drawing or crafting, which is tedious. Worse, the more powerful, precious, and rare ones become too awesome to use, which leads to...

2). It's more efficient to junction spells to your Strength to make your physical attacks more powerful. It effectively gives you more mileage out of those rare spells, since junctioning doesn't use them up.

3). It's nonsensical. I had a lot of trouble grasping the system at first too, and got intimidated by all of the tutorials the game dumps on you, despite it ultimately being simple. And that's because...it makes no logical sense. So now, you equip magical spells to improve your attributes? Like weapons, armor, and accessories? AND they have a bigger effect than weapons in determining your characters' performance? Yuck, no thanks. Square, give me a system that follows more familiar logic.

For the first actual story in FF it was pretty well done, that's true.

I totally agree 100% with you. Although it is kinda cool to juntion 100 flares to STR and 100 holy to HP and just laugh and wreck with squall.
