I hope it isn't VII. PSone Final Fantasy games don't need remakes dammit! Physical copies are fairly cheap and readily available, digital versions on the PSN for a mere $10 each. Playable on every PSone, PS2, PS3 and PSP. There weren't any glaring flaws with the original releases, gameplay is still up to snuff by today's standards and they aren't that bad visually.

Suppose that's a bit hypocritical, since I have no problem with remakes up 'til VI, but there's just something about giving VII+ HD makeovers that seems like a complete waste of resources. It would nab Square some much needed monies for future projects though...

Bleh. Kids today and your "HD" and such.

7 does. Those primitive 3d models made out of separate pieces instead of the modern skeleton+skin system... :yuck:

Though they do add certain charm to it :D

Verses is starting to sound like Duke Nukem where it's taking forever for them to release it, although it's half the time for Verses when compared to Nukem. Hopefully that means the game is good but I said the same thing about 13 and it was average.

13's story is really well done I just wish it wasn't Linear. At least with 10 I was able to back track and train, I can't do that until the end of the 2nd disk and even then I can't go too far.

It will be 2012. Possibly this holiday season in Japan.

Im getting a PS3 (my first playstation console) pretty soon, and I already know Final Fantasy VII will be one of my first games, just because I hated how everyone used to talk about it, while I sat back ignorant. I did play all of the Final Fantasies that Nintendo released however (up to VI).

Out of those, I actually liked the first the most, despite the lack of story or characterization. It was hardcoe!
I also loved FF: Tactics Advance.

IT's available from the Playstation Store. A physical copy, if you can even find one, can be quite valuable these days. I mean, Super Mario 3 for NES, the few copies i've managed to find still sell for 40€

Yes, i do have a working NES :hehe:

I think that cham is vital for FF7.

For example, Barret keeps hitting his men on their heads and stuff, and with the primitive 3D models it's rather cartoony, funny and cute. With realistic graphics the same thing would turn Barret into a big meanie.

Well i bet they can keep the cartoony style of the characters while modernizing the graphics. Sure it wouldn't work with FFXIII style characters, but i think they know that.

If Square didn't try to make a VII remake look as close to the PS3 tech demo/Advent Children as possible, fans would unleash rage unlike the (gaming) world has ever seen. :P

Unfortunately cartoony anything is not generally well received by the "hardcoe" crowd, and on something as high profile as a VII remake it'd be near suicide.

I really don't care about the graphics, but the thought of an orchestrated version of the soundtrack just made me play the credits of Crisis Core, and expecting what they come up with in terms of a completely orchestrated FFVII soundtrack alone makes me eargasm.

A remake of 7 in todays terms would be pretty amazing although would it be able to work on the current consoles the way that it was on the PS1.
