Unofficial Furry Thread

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:22 pm

One of my best friends is a furry, but apparently he found it really difficult to tell me, because of all the stigmata that's associated with it. Even now, I'm the only one that knows about his... furriness status? :P I'm not a furry, but I've found that the people are absolutely lovely and friendly.
(+ brownie points for one of the girls in an earlier video having a cochlear implant. At least, I think it was an implant.)

No I'm not a furry, but I have no problem with the furry fandom or anything.

The only thing that bothers me are fursuits- I don't know how anyone could not find those things horrifically creepy. The soulless eyes and creepy smile most suits have doesn't help.

I'm not a furry. I'm never going to be a furry.
I've still got nightmares about all those furry porm sprays on Garry's Mod servers :cryvaultboy:

I am not a furry, however I respect what you are trying to do and I think it's nice that we the boards are becoming a bit more multicultural

Multicultural. I like how in the Internet culture alone there are so many sub cultures and "ethnicities" based around online interactions and style.

That's all. I have little to contribute to a furry discussion. It's nil to me. Just know that I spend a lot of time on the internet, and I've seen everything.

Everything.

stigmata

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I can't believe such a thread has been allowed to live. Any other sixual fetish, and it would've been locked instantly. Can I make a topic asking which one of you guys like being peed on?

It's not a sixual fetish Holy lol, it's much deeper than that. That's the stereotype of furries. Anyways I'm not one, but I work with someone who is, or at least thinks he is..but he only has an attraction to certain types of humanoid animal creatures..so I don't know. Anyways I do have a question, why do people go for foxes? Foxes seem to be the big thing in furry land.

As I have already posted in this topic the moderators are already aware of it. The only person causing problems in this thread and making inappropriate comments is you - don't do it.

I'll just leave this here.

I'm not a furry, but I don't have problems with most of them. Only the...eccentric ones.

My god my ears were burning, the way they speak gaaah.

I would kindly redirect you to this...

The link kindly provided by Marss has taught me at least that there are caught a few 'levels' to being a furry and that simply liking shows and games which feature furry characters classifies you as one, sixual attraction and relations to anthropomorphic characters is not necessary to be a furry, after reading this article I realized that there are a lot of people who can be considered furries which may not even think to acknowledge themselves as such before-hand.

Wait so because I think werewolves are kinda coool I am one, I dissagree.

Okay now I'm confused on if I'm a furry or not.

Like I can't classify myself as an animal, but I could have some "fun" with a Khajiit (although a modded one)

Does that make me a furry?

I am going to say yes.

I can't believe such a thread has been allowed to live. Any other sixual fetish, and it would've been locked instantly. Can I make a topic asking which one of you guys like being peed on?

Thats is imo an entirely different level of creepy. I find furries kinda creepy (I mean its an cat/boy/girl, creepy, not real and almost beastiality.) But its artwork mostly. And I see a difference between people liking the look of something and actuall doing somthing. If this thread were talk of people asking their loved ones to dress up in suits I wouldbe a tad worried. But its just artwork atm, so it dosent really compare.
Besides this dosent seem much different to people being attracted to game characters, which lots of people seem to think is fine, seen the BW forums ? People on about "dat ass" and "dem hips" and "the prize" dont even get me started on some of the "artwork" and some of the "fanfiction" is vomit inducing. And did you ever see the tali doll ? Sometimes brain bleach just isnt enough. So here things dont seem that, bad, other places are worse.

OP Try this over the escapist, they seem to have quite a lot of furries there, people seem open too as tey have catboy/girlavatars and the like.

But can someone explain the attrction exaxctly ? Fur isnt attractive in the slightes, same for tails, they arent even traits of our species, how can you be attracted ?

It's specifically the human features. The animal features are just like an outfit almost. It's kind of like how people have a thing for, say, maids in Anime. You aren't attracted to frills and skirts specifically, but put them on an attractive woman and, bam, it's a fetish.

Am I supposed to be impressed by your bold and italic typing?

Yes, sir. Shutting up, sir. :whistling:

Edit: Just to clarify guys, I ofcourse mean nothing against anyone. What I said before was to be taken in jest. I would never judge someone by their likes and dislikes. I wanted to let you guys know that. I love you guys no matter what you're in to. :)

I'm a general xenophile, that includes furries, certain aliens and most elves. As in "fantasy elves", not "santa claus elves", and not TES elves either, they're ugly.

Isn't xenophile a person who likes foreigners? Oh wait, I get it..

So like, http://www.testriffic.com/resultfiles/28508bloodelf.jpg from WoW? Because if that's the case, yeah even I dig those. http://www.busygamer.com/blog1/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Night_elf_rogue_by_xadhoom.jpg too. Heck even http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs42/i/2009/143/f/9/Draenei_chick_for_Soi_by_jordanmead.jpg.

Not Aliens though, not really..

Edit: Although you could arguably say Draenei are aliens.. I just think they're design and concept art is cool though, nothing more... So, if say I like werewolves; am I a furry?

In the real world, yes. But when you add imaginary stuff... ;)

And yes, Blizzards elves are hot. For alien example, see asari from Mass Effect ;)

So, if say I like werewolves; am I a furry?

That depends on why you like them.

Yes.

I have a character and some commissioned artwork (all perfectly safe, harmless and innocent in case anyone wonders). I enjoy maintaining the character and exploring the art in general, and the worst of the seedy side mostly slips by unnoticed if you don't actually go look for it
And then there's some nice people I met through the fandom I occasionally talk to. There's art streams to watch. Things to learn. It's fun :)

And that's just it. It's a hobby. For me at least :P

Asari's not really doing anything for me. However, Miranda from ME:2 was smoking hot.. (Im pretty sure she's human though, unless she's hiding something under that skin-tight jumpsuit.)

I only like werewolves because I think the idea of the whole transformation into beasts at night is awesome. I don't like them in a sixual way or anything, but I've read in this thread that it doesn't have to be like that in order to be a furry... That confuses the hell out of me. Does that mean if I like playing the Pokemon games, Im a furry? I honestly wouldn't know how to answer that.

Personally though, I'll admit I find anime girls to be really cute. (But not those ones with DD's and micro-skirts, clearly intended to attract a totally different audience..)

Edit: Also, aren't Nekos and Furries one in the same?

Well, transformation art is pretty popular in the furry circles, and the attraction doesn't have to be sixual. There is a lot of good art that is no way porm. And there's no test to find out if you're a furry, you can decide what you want to call yourself :D

Majority would say no, they don't have enough animal aspects to qualify. Also ironically, unlike the "western" furries, they're usually imagined to be mentaly inferior to humans.

To each their own, but to be honest I don't understand why some furries have to be so vocal about their fetish (when it is a fetish), and then about their hobby or whatever when it's not. Like, everyone else can keep their own personal interests to an appropriate place like a forum suited to it or private conversations, but I've noticed more and more that there are a large amount of furries who try and push the fact on everyone else screaming "ACCEPT ME!". While plenty of people may not be, obviously they're not going to be the people who people hear of. What's wrong with keeping it to yourself?

Well clearly like all humans they feel the need to be accepted. Most might not accept them, so they seek others of their own interests in which to interact with. Then ofcourse as an alliance they show themselves to the people who think lowly of them, and show that there really is nothing wrong with what they do. That is, my theory atleast.

Others are obviously attention seekers. There are people like this in all factions. There are emos like this, there are goths like this, there are hip-hoppers like this, etc..

Those are them who are referred to as ...not sure if it's forum appropriate word. Regardless, the rest of us are ashamed of them too. I'm firmly in the closet, occasionally dropping a hint. Well, except in this thread ^_^

Allright, for those confused, here's the answer of "Am I a furry?"

You are a Furry IF you:

Meet two or more of the following
*Enjoy stories/artwork about anthromorphic animals. (BIIIG one)
*Enjoy creating the above point (even if it's only in your head, you're still "creating" it)
*Enjoy shapeshift-to-animal stories
*Cosplaying as an animal, or would like to, beyond a halloween costume (unless you REALLY like the idea)
*Have an interest in "furry porm."

AND if you define yourself as a furry.

(Note: there are levels beyond those mentioned above, but we won't go down that particular rabbit hole. See http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FurryFandom for more details on that rabbit hole.)

I agree. And while it may not be a wholly sixual fetish, that is what most of us are going to think when we see a topic about furries. That's what I thought when I saw the topic and I am sure Holy thought that as well.

In my opinion, this thread should be closed for sixual content.
