Unofficial "I haven't experienced ANY bugs in Skyrim&#34

Post » Fri Dec 02, 2011 10:50 pm

If you say you haven't experienced one bug, glitch, or crash in 60 hours of playing this game you're a bald-faced liar. End of story.

Why ? Because you have experienced bugs ?

In the 90s I used to work for support for a networking equipment vendor. Europe-wide support.
You wouldn't believe the amount of bugs we got. Crashes, hangs, memory leaks. Configs not working. Cosmetic bugs. Lots of stuff. Hunderds, thousands of bugs. We had over 10k bugs in our bugs database. Customers calling us night and day. I was amazed. How could anyone buy our crappy products when there were so many bugs. And the equipment hardly seem to work ?

Well, the answer is simple.
I was working at the support center for the product. Every bug was reported to us. All we saw was problems. But the majority of our products was running fine. The majority of the customers was happy. Networks just worked. But we never saw that. If you don't realize that, you will have the wrong image.

Look at Skyrim. Someone said 3.4 million copies sold already. Suppose 1% of those players runs into bugs. That's 34.000 players. Suppose 5% of those will be foaming at the mouth, and will come post on these forums. That's still 1700 posts on this forum. That will make the game look bad. But the truth is, 99% of the players do not experience bugs. And 95% of the players who do experience a bug, don't find it problematic enough to complain about it. Reality: the game is probably a lot more stable and polished than you think.

Now if we could get a real UI on the PC, that would make the game close to perfect.

I came upon one where the carriage wouldn't let me travel! I was like "WTF."

I've come across more, but nothing major to remember.

Some minor issues here after 20 hours of play on Xbox 360.

Arrows stuck in me. Found the fix for that though.

Game froze only once during a loading screen.

Paralyzed a Snowy Sabre Cat with poison on my sword. Fus Ro'd him and he floated away about 20 feet before landing and bouncing a bit. The rest of the fight went normally.

When I sit in the left chair in my bedroom in Breezehome, click Third Person view and rotate the camera, the wall disappears behind me.

Some shadows look terrible.

Otherwise its been good so far.

The only weird physics I've seen is when a fourteen foot giant is able to bat me into the stratosphere...

Workin as intended

30 hrs most of that in long sessions and no bugs here, only one CTD, but that was when i was tinkering with INI tweaks so I'm not surprised.

Same here. On the 360. with nothing but a few minor cosmetic bugs--and who's saying floating cabbages don't improve the game? :P

This.

If the game was as broken as some lead us to believe, there would be a much bigger issue and we would here about it from many more people.

I get occasional freezes, sometimes my powers refuse to work and I have to hammer the button and waterfalls look like rocks from far away. Apart from that everything is fine.

10 hours so far. One floating, half reanimated wolf. That's it. Oh, I've had a freeze, too.

Playing on PS3, no glitches, bugs, crashes or lag.

It's played surprisingly perfectly.

I've run into a couple of bugs (can't sleep in my own bed, weapon racks don't work, etc.) and CTD's aren't rare (although I think they may be caused by a tray program I'm running to manage saves) but Skyrim has been remarkable for a Bethesda release, to be honest. Great to see Bethesda is getting better at picking these things up before release.

waterfalls look like rocks from far away.

THat is because LOD models are not animated (you will notice windmills dont animate when they are in far LOD mode, you can increads your loaded grids so that waterfalls and windmills do their thing from further out, I'm assuming you're using a PC if not you should be.

I went into the womans house in River Wood. The one that hangs out on the porch across from the blacksmith. The center of the house's floor was gone and I feel into oblivion.... er maybe purgatory is a better word. After a few seconds it would teleport me back to the top and start all over again.. I was able to escape this glitch by leaving the house and re-entering it.

My main concern is the shadows. I got the pix elated look to be fixed by using a ini I found on the forum. I also get flickering on shadows and have yet to be able to fix it..

I run this ini. ( I have the difficulty changed to master)

45 hours and no bugs. No crashes, no bugs, no real technical problems other than the mouse movement changing with the framerate, which I assume they will patch.
