You can play the 10 minutes over and over again.
And: hex editors. Same for videos at night or with rain.

Yep. And the developers don't want people to post links to that stuff on their site, so I guess the mods won't allow that here either.

I love the demo, and especially the Mafia version of the 50s Corvette. Now that's a real sports car! :tops: Now if only they could add a Porche Spider equivalent like James Dean's Spider, the game would be set with the best Sports cars of the 50s. Also, I just love all the cars in the game, the Corvette is the only one that really sticks out to me at the moment. The gunfighting is nicer too, and more realistic like the AI knowing where you are, what you're doing, etc.

If GTA incorporated this form, it'd be golden. But I do like them equally the same, in their own respect.

Oh, so after you finish the 10 minutes, you can just load it up again and play another 10 minutes?

If people are modding the game now, I imagine we are going to see all sorts of stuff like new cars when the game gets released.

Yup. Start another game and crank it out for another 10 minutes.

I haven't noticed it myself, when being chased by the police, but when they ram into something hard enough, do they die or at least take some health damage like you do? Anyone got an answer for this? Because I've been playing around with it, but haven't noticed it, so maybe they don't and it only happens to you? Would be nice if cops took health damage from wrecking their car into a brick wall.

Yep, hence the large play through time for a demo. I usually skip the mission and go escape -> retry mission to start over at the time the phone rings. Or if I die it does that too.

I could be imagining this

but has anyone else noticied that when you first exit your house it starts had 9:59 minutes
BUT
if you kill someone it adds an extra minute?
I'm serious about this when I leave the house I have ten minutes, but then I started a riot and looked at the timer and saw that I had eleven!

Just pre-ordered a copy of the game. Unfortunately, not the CE. They aren't accepting pre-order of those anymore. Although, there's a chance I may pick one up at release date.

Pre-ordered my CE a few weeks ago and I just realised today that it comes out shortly.

Too many games to play as of today.

No, that rhyming wasn't on purpose. :P

Did anyone hear about the silly Italian-American group complaining that Mafia 2 portrays Italian-Americans as violent, murderous criminals and that it is reinforcing a negative stereotype for children? Take Two's response was great. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/29991/ItalianAmerican_Group_UNICO_Takes_Issue_With_Mafia_II_TakeTwo_Responds.php. It's rather amusing that they expect Take Two to halt the release and "cleanse it of all references to Italians and Italian-Americans".

LOL UNICO reminds me of the uptight part of my dad's family. We stopped talking to them when I was about 15, after my dad couldn't take them anymore and their uptight ways. Seriously, if you want by the book Italian Stereotypes, they're the ones to talk with. (And not the Mob part, just the constant yelling and arguing part.) And it's ironic because they're always talking out against Italian/Italian-American Stereotypes. One of my Aunts actually yelled at me when I was ten, for acting out a part of the Godfather with my cousins and older sister. Jeez, UNICO has to take a chill pill and relax a bit. Sure not all Italian/Italian-Americans are mobsters, but obviously we make the best mobsters for the best mobster stories, since we're the most famous group of mobster history. :celebration:

Besides, I like the stereotypes of Italians, makes for some good laughs.

Not sure if I should get this game, I enjoyed the demo, but what all is there to do in the game? and there's no multiplayer(but honestly I'm glad they're focusing on SP). And there's nudity and six so my parents aren't gonna be happy about that, but I do have a lot of money saved up so if I want to I probably could get it. So what do you guys think? yay or nay?

Well I'm getting it next tuesday, no doubt about it. But of course, I don't have parents to tell me what games I can and cannot play. (Not that it's bad, I'm just saying.) If you don't think you're mature enough to handle the six and nudity, then I probably would advise against it, thought I'm not sure how much six and nudity will be in it. (Like there is in the GTA Series.) Multiplayer for this, I could hardly care about, and glad they're not incorporating it and are focusing on SP as well. I'm sure though if you can handle the six and nudity, explain that to your parents, they'll probably allow you to get it? Think of Mafia II like GTA, but with more realistic effects, such as really crashing a 1950s car would and could seriously get you injured or killed. (They're not safe cars at all, but sure hell of a lot of fun to drive!)

I say if you can handle the mature subject, then get it if you want. But you can always try to rent it first, then buy it later if you like it enough?

I think I'll buy it, the demo is amazing and I love the driving physics, nice to know that you get punished for driving full speed into a wall.(no, that wasn't sarcasm)

And I think I'm mature enough to handle the six and nudity.

Is this not actually going to be open world in the GTA sense of go anywhere and do anything? The review leaves me confused.

One thing that amazed me when I played the demo is the shear detail of the world.

It's an open world (It's hard not to have an open world when you play in a city like that) but from what I've understood it's more focused on the missions than on causing random chaos GTA-style.

This is probably a stupid question but what car stat governs acceleration, horse power?

Also has anyone figured out what hotkey (PC) leaves stores, for example the gunstore?

What I mean:
A+D Cycle through the items
E Buys them
What button makes you exit this interface?

It's an open city, and there are some minor activities outside the missions to engage in, but it's really only a backdrop to the (completely linear) narrative of the game. It's not even like GTA, where if you get killed or arrested you end up at a hospital or police station, and where you can often choose what order to take missions in. In Mafia you follow a strict progression, and if you fail you'll have to reload.
