I'd help with the creation of Vivec.

I just thought that I better say (before you all run off with the thought of Vivec), the grand idea, which should be very awesome if we can implement it (all's going well so far!) does not involve Vivec :P. Maybe a bit later it could involve something Vivec-like, but for now it's pretty much devoid of TES cities :P

I can testify that the grand idea is pretty awesome. We intend on having it running on the server to coincide with tomorrow's Friday update. It will live and breathe.

Okay we'll see what that big secret project of yours is about then. :P

Some sort of underground city?

What is this "grand idea"?

Another idea I had would be great too. We could build up entire country full of small villages, towns, castles and such. It would look great on those maps we have.

@povuholo, I'm reading my espionage reports right now... looks not so great.

Yeah a landscape filled with something more realistic than big towers of doom or glass or bridges even bigger than those would be nice. :P

Top secret and underground apparently. :(

You're not entirely far off there...

And the best news - it's not a snow map!

Yeah. The old map can be uploaded for people to use on single player if they want. The old map was too cluttered and messy to really go on. This time round we're going for something a little less anarchistic.

Ah ok. I thought Wampbit was working on something secret on the old map and that that was the big secret grand idea.

Nope, we're working on an entirely new map, trying to get it ready for the "game" we're setting up. This will also see an update of the server software which will hopefully make things run smoother.

Hmm, my next project on the old map was to build an underwater city made of glass. We'll see what this new map is like.

Alas, no. Is that even possible?

And it's nothing TES related.

Once Notch releases the source code in a few years.... think of the possibilities...

:(

I'm not sure can you import heightmaps, but that was just lucky quess (and what I hoped).

But I will not likely be much online until weekened, I got much work to do with my RP campaign and I have to try Nehrim out.

Well it is possible to import stuff, I don't know how exactly. I know it's possible to import/convert Dwarf Fortress maps for example.

Edit: http://minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Omen#Import_heightmap

What ideas? :P

I'm not saying in case I'm wrong. :P

I've had Minecraft for a few days now and might pop by to see what's going on :3

Is the server like a persistant world? I mean, if I build something today, will it still be there tomorrow?

But if you're wrong, it could be something good that we can work in!

Yes. The server is currently down though while Wampbit and I work on a new world. We're aiming more for us to have a "game" to play, rather than people just dropping in the world and building a whole load of unrelated ridiculous structures.

But how we can do much since we cant take damage? I mean we can't fight or die. That defeats the purpose of "more than building ridiculous structures"

Hey! Barad Dur is not ridiculous structure :(

Barad Dur was awesome. But it was just another stand-alone feature on the map, like New Rapture, Wampbit's tower and the bridge.

Hopefully damage will be added into multiplayer soon, but for now I think the idea we're working on will make the server into a decent game with a lot more interaction than before.

So are you playing in creative mode (the one where you just place blocks) or whatever the one where you have to gather resources, craft things, hide from the monsters etc. is called?

We play survival mode. The next iteration of the server will have mobs disabled though, until damage is properly implemented in multiplayer.
