Alright, as has been noted the server has been prone to moments of instability. This requires Wampbit to be around to fix it, which is inconvenient all round, not least for him. A couple of people have been making noises about renting a server, but this isn't really something that one person alone could pay for (I mean they could, but it's not cheap and that wouldn't be fair). I personally would be happy to contribute a couple of quid each month for as long as I use the server, and while no one is obliged to pay, if the bulk of our regular players also contributed a little bit we should be able to cover the costs fairly easily. Thoughts?

I would like to help, but I'm currently living on my own apartment, going school, paying for my food and such. So my budget is rather tight at the moment.

I'd be happy to contribute a little but as with Saurok my budget is gonna be pretty tight in the near future, it depends how much the server would cost

Me and Wamp found this server:

http://main.jestservers.com/2010-05/minecraft-dedicated-servers/

The cheap one is $45/mo

It would be easy to reach the amount needed.

I've already told Wamp I can contribute $10/mo on it. Also, since Wamp isn't 18 and doesn't have a paypal account, it would have to be someone that does have one. I have a paypal account and I'd make a seperate one for the MC Server so as not to cut into my own expenses :P

We need a currency system, my ideas are as follows:

All numbers are in units of Currency. There are also Materials.

Currency:

Red Stone: 1 : This is probably the most abundant rare block and everyone has a TON of it.

Iron/Steel bar: 5 : This is the next most abundant rare block.

Gold Bar: 10 : Pretty rare stuff this is.

Diamond: 40 : Then rarest of all and hardest to find. 1 Diamond is 4 gold.

Everything else is considered Materials. Some Currency is also used as Materials, but thats up to the owner of the item whether to use it as such or not.

Every Material has a worth, that worth is determined by the buyer/seller.

I also had an idea for Taxes, to put our rather abundant resources to work and give the state funds for expansion and rewards.

I'm thinking 25-40 units per week.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure, but is the server down again?
Or did I just found the edge of the world and crashed?

It's down... Just as I was dropping iron for Undone.

Edit: Got it back, but now there's other funny business going on on the updated server. :P

In other news... We have a skyscraqer in the city, a castle outside the city, a mysterious figure called 'the sand man' who filled our houses and the bank with sand, and a public pool! :)

Also one bandit is going to have one hell of a surprise when he returns to his illegal hideout... Apparently it wasn't hidden very well.

Was it an outlaw home? (outside the city without a permit)

If so, everything your home is made of and anything inside it is fair game. Hide your stuff better :P

I think Undone flooded a bandit house earlier.

Wambit flooded another, with LAVA.

I doubt he is going to fix it since there is nothing really to fix.

Just follow the instructions in the op. Go to multiplayer then type in the IP:Port.

My place of business is still under construction. I need to mine some more stone.

Is the pool filled up all the way?

Might want to try this out, how is the population on the BGSF server? Will I be running into people all the time or rarely?

I think I might check this out, might get the full version, I enjoyed the demo a while back.

You run into people in the town a lot. Outside of town, it's pretty rare, but not unheard of.

Ah, so you guys have built a town or what? Is it possible for the rest of us to build in that town as well? I'm thinking medieval metropolis here :P

There's one city where everyone lives, and a few things around it. So you'll run into most people there and its surroundings. It's right in front of the spawn point too.

http://i54.tinypic.com/2h3zvj9.jpg

There are no other official settlements elsewhere. As for illegal ones, I don't know. Maybe a few small ones carved into the mountains here and there, but I don't think there's a hidden village somewhere. :P

Creating a settlement outside the city is illegal and if you're caught then people are free to destroy and loot it. So buy a place within the city, or hide your settlement really well. :D

The land within the walled city have been divided into plots, and you can buy a plot with gold and/or diamonds and build your house within it. Because we don't want a city full of skyscraqers each plot size has it's own vertical limit too.

I don't know how many residential plots there still are. We have a few commercial ones that are more expensive which generate a small income each day though. Maybe some of the commercial plots could be converted to residential plots if we're running out of room. A castle has been built just outside the city which I think is going to have cheap house plots next to it.

Yes you can. But that will cost you a lot of gold.

How is my request for small castle doing?
