If your files are there but your still not get sound there are 2 solutions.

Disconnect your internet and start minecraft in offline mode. Once you are in-game then connect your internet. Strangely this worked for me.

The other solution has something to do with replacing a System 32 file. But I wouldn't try that personally.

Okay, here is an update on everything: Sorry about not being able to post this earlier I've been busy all day. Right now I'm in the process of moving, and with original plans the server was about to hit a period of chaos whilst things were moved incrementally over several days. This plan has now been altered, everything shall be moved on Tuesday. I have been informed by my ISP that my internet here will die on Monday (most likely at midnight, at the Sunday-Monday transition), and shall be activated at the new house 24 hours later. I will not be able to re-host the server that quickly, however, as I shall have to spend considerable time unpacking etc.

As a result the server will go down Sunday night, and I shall send the server files to Undone, who has kindly offered to host the server in my absence when he is able (remember, this is very much an act of his good will, so if he can't, he can't). For now the server is up and running, and I shall attempt to provide as much up-time as possible. However, unlike when I first launched a server, and was able to troubleshoot things reasonably quickly, if the server goes down it could be several hours before I notice/do anything about it (much like the last 2-3 days).

So, for now, server is back up.

Anyway, they need to add an actual use for gold in this game. I just eagerly mined a whole load of it in single player, only to remember there's nothing actually worth doing with it.

I have an idea. Minecraft and The Golden Warrior

Hey I was thinking of doing what we are doing here with the whole town on another site I frequent. But how do you guys set everything up like the walls made of bedrock and city set up and had plots set up and etc.

They set up a server and made a custom map

To expand a little, we generated a couple of maps and wandered around them marking sites we thought would be good for cities. After we'd decided on a city spot we decided a list of building types we wanted, sizes, and I laid them out with torches. After that we planned the wall, and spawned a whole load of bedrock to build it. And then we invited all you lot in.

Are you guys able to change the spawn point, or did you hope for a good area next to the spawn point every time?

Yeah, we can change the spawn point. I think you need to use the custom server software Wampbit downloaded though - the old one wouldn't let him change the spawn.

I've been scouring my single player map for clay, just out of force of habit. I've strayed a long way from home... Many, many days of walking and sailing. My inventory filled up, and there was nothing I could really get rid of. So, I decided to furnace that clay and put it in bricks for compact storage.

However I think we shouldn't roll back. We should rebuild. That's part of the fun. However whoever that was should be banned because it's taking things a bit too far innit.

Wampbit said TNT also causes map corruption or something, because of a bug it currently has. It would be best to avoid that by reverting to an earlier save.

TNT is banned due to the bugs it causes, and these bugs can be serious and long lasting - a roll back is very much ideal, and most likely what I shall do.

And so, we shall now officially add "Eddard" to the banned list - if anyone has a clue who he is on the BGSF/Hamachi please PM so I can enact a slightly better ban (there are quite a few name-changing hacks).

I still have a block of TNT I was going to use on a bandit base. Next time the server is up and an admin is on I'll hand it over to be safely discarded.
