Red wires are bugged in the multiplayer just now (incidentally, does anyone know what last night's update did, if indeed there was one?). I've not used it at all in single player.


A couple of ways - Firstly, an agent of the state (currently just Wampbit and I) may hire you to take down an outlaw building. Secondly, any other player (via a sign in the marketplace) may advertise the need for a mercenary needed. They can hire anyone to do any of their dirty work for them, but if they want you to break the law in the city you better make sure it's worth the risk.

Also Walrus, rules are rules; if you go against city laws you are a bandit and penalties are distributed - if you wished to hide out you should've hidden your base, or atleast gained temporary accomodation so you could use the trading system: Breaking 2 city laws will get you a bounty

How could I have gotten an accomadation without a base to mine in? And how long is the "jail" going to last?

The city rules are clear, you would be safer with sporadic mines, or at least hiding your mines somewhere in the wilderness. The jail will last until the start of the next hour (43 minutes).

I recently had a major naval battle with two creepers, a zombie and a spider. Armed with nothing more than a nearly destroyed pick, some pebbles, torches and two slices of bacon. Weapon of choice? Bacon. I was victorious.
Also, while working on that magmafall, I accidentally fell into the lava, survived a drop from the cliff, narrowly avoiding landing in the instant-death lava moat and made it into the water. With one half of a heart left. Damn, that was a close call.

Does someone want to explain what just happened? Bank heist? Were the valuables recovered?

As far as I know, no. They are still missing.
