I am currently working on my epic tower base in single player. I was gonna do an underground base but the risk of flooding seemed to be too great with water near by. Plus I should be safer cause of the fact that I dont think zombies, spiders and creepers can climb ladders very well. Ill get a WiP pic later of it.

Yeah these time zones don't work for us from North America.

I can seem to play on my laptop it says downloading packages but then never does anything

Nope, server is up. The details in the OP are slightly out of date though. Join the Hamachi network BGSF Minecraft #4, password "Creeper!". Then join the server using the IP it gives for me.

Im starting another world in single player. Ive got my house and farm set up although Ive already been bombarded by creepers who blow out have my foundation. I really need some food as I have 1 heart left.

Wow, hard mode is HARD. I was having a pretty easy time for the first couple nights, then out of nowhere on my 3rd night there were at LEAST 10 skeletons, plus 2 or 3 creepers. The twanging from their bows was non-stop and I had to take off my headphones to remain sane.

I found an underground lava-lake and a waterfall, so I turned the entire thing into obsidian. Now I just need to get to work on making an obsidian fortress!

Can obsidian withstand a creeper blast, or should I make a layer of stone on the outside?
