HD Textures look AWESOME.

So...

http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=21302

Install that texture pack. You open minecraft.jar using winrar, and the downloaded file using winrar, and you drag the contents of the downloaded file to minecraft.jar. Easy. Textures are installed.

Then you download this: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=46173

You just run the patch and apply it. I used 128x128 option so it runs really smooth. Tick all the boxes. Apply the patch.

Don't choose "run minecraft" because otherwise you can't play online (since it skips the login part).

Just launch minecraft as usual.

The only thing I don't like is the signs. They've got a white paper over the wood. Everything else is very awesome. I would post pics but I'm off to bed.

So just do what I did, create your own HD texture pack :P

The last 4 hours have been... intense. I finally found alot of coal so I decided to build a mineshaft in my house. I did so and that led me to a unexciting cave, and then I opened 3 other shafts in that cave. One led to bedrock in which I also got 4 bars of coal, one led to lots of iron than the last one. Whoooo boy, It opened up to a bigger cave that I haven't fully explored yet but I have gotten 3 diamonds, 7 gold bars, and who knows how much coal and redstone. Also at one point I got a bucketfull of lava and failed. I right clicked on my craft box while I had the lava bucket and it went everywhere burned part of my house down and closed my mine shaft. I finally fixed it and when I got down to the epic cave there was about over 25 blocks of Obsidian. because when I got to the first cave I drowned it out with water and it went down the shaft where the second epic cave was.

Is it true that when the beta comes out it is going to get rid of our saves?

edit: also I tried to make my roof with lava encased in glass but the lava died out :(.

I also set up a crop (wheat?) farm by tilling the dirt, getting seeds, planting them then filling the other rows with water keeping the plants growing :).

I'm back (still playing Vegas)

Now I plugged second monitor so I can play both games at same time.

It seems that I've missed so much. What I read about new updates, we might have desert, mountain and other regions soon. Will this mean new world? (which I'm strongly against at this time)

I was biding my time and farming stone when I turned around and see a green thing. I die. I come back and it is gone and all my stuff is also gone. All 6 pickaxes. All 120 blocks of stone. Gone. :swear:

Fort Greywood has expanded a tower. On the top of it, miners are gathering dark artifacts from below that seem to form a arch when placed properly. Though they do not know the purpose of these artifacts, those that hold them speak of having bad dreams in the night. Dreams of flame and despair. The Foreman however has disregarded this as simple tales woven by one of the workers.

In a effort to gather as many of these artifacts as he can, the Foreman has ordered all miners to venture deep into the Hidden Caverns of Greywood County. It has been some time since word has come from the Hidden Caverns, and The Foreman is growing impatient... in six days time, he intends to go down there himself and see what is the hold up.

Meanwhile, the forest surrounding the Fort seems to have a tense aura growing within it. A deep breathe before the dive, one could say...

No no, we won't have biomes in the current server as it is I think. I don't want to start a new world, and I'm sure everyone feels the same.

I have no idea if biomes will work in our existing save. I too would be against starting a new map though. This one has more than enough legs to keep running for a while yet.

AFAIK, unexplored areas in the current map will be affected by biomes. Explored areas will stay the same.

EVERYONE STOP EXPLORING NOW! :D

I agree that we should not start a new map. There's a whole history on this one.

I was going to say the very same thing :P

Not sure how much I'll get done between now and Halloween anyway. In fact, I intend on going back to my parents' place at the weekend, and I've got a busy week ahead of me. Which means other people need to keep up to speed with IP requests :P

Oh and definitely no new maps. Like povu said there definitely is some history in our current map. I mean how many times in a game can you say you've walked to a place and thought about what happened there? (Aldgate) Few games.

If we are to do anything new to move the storyline along, my position would be to simply move the spawn point a long distance away from Aldgate/Torhemn, and enable /home for all users so they can base their game out of whatever location they like, no matter how far from spawn. That way we can have the story move to, effectively, a brand new location, while still allowing people to visit and develop the old regions. This could be something fun to do once biomes are implemented.

I approve! mostly because I want my /home.

Elaborating on my idea a little (ie making it up as I go along), the spawn point will be moved to the edge of the region, or in more honest words, as far as one of us can be bothered walking. There will be a large protected area around the spawn point (we can set this through admin hax), to keep that uninhabited wilderness feel. People who wish to follow the story can just /spawn to arrive at the edge of the region, then pick a direction to start their new settlement. Markers can be put up to point new settlers towards existing settlements, or they can go off and start their own. Players who just want to carry on what their doing can use /sethome to give them a personal spawn where they want to work from. The aim of the game is for the new settlers and the old Torhemnians to meet somewhere in the middle and rebuild the empire. Or something like that.

With the new way of fast travelling through hell it should be possible to get to the old areas relatively quickly if people would want to, even if it's far away. So that sounds alright.

Go to start and type in %appdata%

Then find your minecraft folder and open up minecraft.jar with 7zip or Winzip or something, inside that is a file are all the art resources for the game. :)

Is Minecraft.net down again/still?

Works for me

I sailed a boat like 234235326 miles. I'm at least an hour away by boat and 20 minutes by land. I'm probably the furthest out.

Oh, I doubt that very much. I think Oranos said it took over 2 hours in a straight line to find me :P

Isn't it possible to make a overview shot of the map with a cartographer thing or whatever? It would be interesting to see.
