Undone says you're on the whitelist now.

thank you :D

okay so I'm currently on Beta 1.4 so I'll need to wait for that to be fixed. While I'm waiting are there any mods I need to download? I've never downloaded a mod before so I'll try to figure that out if there is something I need before being able to join

thanks for the help

I doubt it matters much. Most people who want to play Minecraft already bought it (and are playing it) now, so unless Notch adds some crazy awesome features on this official first release it shouldn't be hard to decide what game to play on 11.11.11. :P

I know which game I'll be playing one 11/11/11... Minecraft. Mainly because my computer won't handle Skyrim (or the other gazillion games being released that day).

BGSF Share Map - "Also better than Ezra!"

Legend: On base - At bat - On Deck - In The Hole

*colors reset for the second inning*

the fishy wanderer
The Gate Keeper
Antibody
Mr.E
mrcrazy_monkey

dudeordudet?
Nuck
Gamemastr - editing until Friday, April 15

Q: What is this share map thing?
A: A Minecraft share map is a singleplayer map that one person plays at a time. They have a set amount of time to play it, and when they're done, they upload the map for the next player in the queue. Rinse and repeat. That way, you have a single world with a shared creative vision without the multiplayer.

Q: So why don't you just do a multiplayer map instead?
A: Every player is different. Some prefer to play solo, some can't really handle the multiplayer and some like to have a singleplayer map to complement their online servers. This is just another creative outlet.

Q: How long will I get the map for?
A: Starting in round 2, players get 48 hours to edit.

Q: Are there any special rules?
A: Not really, other than don't be a dink. If you do, we'll just revert to a previous save and bar you from the rotation. The only big rule we ask is to please play on 'Peaceful' because we wish to preserve the built structures. Other than that, simple etiquette takes over. If you use things, try to replace some or all of it. Leave resources for the next player. Don't destroy their creations (at least, not without asking), even if they don't meet your standards.

Q: How can I download/upload the map?
When you download the map, it will have instructions along with it. Just follow them to unzip the save to your %appdata%/.minecraft folder, change the name of the folder, then start the game up. For uploading, use your favorite zipping program to package the save folder and instructions up, then upload them to a file hosting service of your choice. There's lots out there, like http://www.4shared.com/ or http://www.megaupload.com and more.

Q: Can I be a part of this?
A: Of course. Just post in this thread that you want to join, and you'll be added to the end of the queue. If you've got specific time criteria you need met, we'll try to work with you.

Once Gamemastr is done with it on Friday, it'll be your turn. For Round 2 each person will be editing it for only 48 hours each, so that's how long you'll have as you're starting off the round.

Shop now works, money is fully working. If your balance is incorrect, please notify me and I will resolve it(you will have either 30 or 0 if it is wrong).

NEW FEATURES
Door locking now works, the same as chest locks. Names of other players can go on line 3.
Silt Striders are now functional, use the sign located below to travel. One can be found in the residential district of The City, East of spawn, the other is in VegetaVille, travel there is only practical via Silt Strider(10000 block distance). Towns with populations higher than 5 can purchase a Silt Strider for 25k, price is valid until council votes differently.
Shop will be locked down to use in physical shops, items needed for survival(read: food) will now be purchasable.
QuickBelt, belt autoloads from slot above it in inventory. Use /qb on to enable.
Creepers nerfed to prevent land damage, but not player damage.
Portcullis(Gates) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQNiWasftIs

More to come.

So if I remember correctly no allowance too right Tank? We have to earn out pay with the shop like you said yesterday.

Cool sounds nice. I wonder how this world looks.

For my plans for our SMP server I am working on a project around about 500-700 blocks away from the Skyrim Logo. I will be needed some wool and I have extra cobblestone to trade for a little bit of wool when I get on after school.

Well you don't have to wait for Gamemastr to be done with the map to find out, just download it from the link Nuck posted if you want. You'd have to re-download it once Gamemastr is done but you could use Nuck's map to get familiar with it first.

Yeah, I would take Anti's advice and take a look at it early, maybe get some ideas, cause this is the first time I've seen this map and I have no idea what to make.

Also, some more pics of the giant zombie attack (my texture pack makes it look like that):

I just have one question. Why does a game with such simple graphics run so hard spec wise? Obviously this game is no Crysis, but being able to play games like Fable, Morrowind, and even WoW on my computer at least decently, I find it weird that this game can't stay above around 3 fps when I play. I really want to play this game, but I don't plan on building my new computer for a few months (expect a thread helping me with this in the future btw). What is it about this game that makes it run so badly? Is there more to the graphics than meets the eye? I r confoosed.

Minecraft does a real number on processors. There are also a few GPU's that aren't fully compatible with MC yet. I don't know which. Most of the resource usage from MC is mainly due to bugs, specifically, lighting bugs. Lightsources in MC destroy processor speeds.

You can check this by pushing F3 to bring up the current usage data.

my guess is it's because the world is randomly generated and eight times the size of the Earth. it may be simple looking, but it's A LOT of simplicity being generated all at once in real time. Then there's the animations, AI pathing, the fact that the game has to generate 3D models of everything you create and as your world grows so too does your memory for that world.

Biggest reason would be the way the engine handles rendering the world. You always have a 300 block area rendered around you, from bedrock to sky limit. It doesn't lower render quality at distance, or not render what you aren't seeing. Lighting is calculated for the entire area, even if you aren't seeing it.
Runs fine on my PC.

The only time I had some FPS issues is when the game generates new chunks when I first start walking around a new world, or if I create a huge cave and try to close it off, so the lighting calculations go crazy.

But my PC is pretty good.
