I did a lot, but much of it wasn't what I was planning on doing. You know what they say about the best laid plans...

The logging area caught on fire, which is how I learned that water buckets (which I had as backup in case of such a situation) do absolutely nothing to stop a forest fire. The fire just spreads through it as if it was air. I was eventually able to cut it off but not before it decimated a hell of a lot of trees. Luckily, thanks to our new skeleton farm I was able to get bonemeal and plant a bunch of new trees. The logging area still hasn't been completely restored but there's still plenty of trees there now. The other things I did during my turn don't require more explanation than the in-game signs already give so I'll end the post here.

Oh, also I mentioned before that I had a project planned for the island on the other side of the bay from our tower... don't think that'll be happening any time soon, so forget I said anything about it. I have to finish the project I started this turn first.

Hmm I can't wait till the server gets updated. At DC at the moment so . Anyhow I love the booster rails but it seems you need to put them every like 6 spaces to keep a good speed up.

Ha! I knew you'd be apologetic. For all of a half hour or so late... I'm pretty sure we'll all forgive an hour or two here and there due to schedules...

Question and Answer

Q: What is this share map thing?
A: A Minecraft share map is a singleplayer map that one person plays at a time. They have a set amount of time to play it, and when they're done, they upload the map for the next player in the queue. Rinse and repeat. That way, you have a single world with a shared creative vision without the multiplayer.

Q: How long will I get the map for?
A: When you come here to download the map, make a post saying you've got it. Then go edit. You have 48 hours from the time of your post to work your magic and upload the map.

Q: What if I'm not ready for it?
A: You have 24 hours from the time the person before you uploaded to acknowledge you've got the map. If you know your upcoming turn won't be good for you, post ahead of time and you can be bumped down the queue. If that happens during your turn, you can have the map again in the next rotation - just upload what you've already done, if any.

Q: Are there any special rules?
A: Not really, other than don't be a dink. If you do, we'll just revert to a previous save and bar you from the rotation. The only big rule we ask is to please play on 'Peaceful' because we wish to preserve the built structures. Other than that, simple etiquette takes over. If you use things, try to replace some or all of it. Leave resources for the next player. Don't destroy their creations (at least, not without asking), even if they don't meet your standards.

Q: How can I download/upload the map?
When you download the map, it will have instructions along with it. Just follow them to unzip the save to your %appdata%/.minecraft folder, change the name of the folder, then start the game up. For uploading, use your favorite zipping program to package the save folder and instructions up, then upload them to a file hosting service of your choice. There's lots out there, like 4shared or Megaupload and more.

Q: Can I be a part of this?
A: Of course. Just post in this thread that you want to join, and you'll be added to the end of the queue.

According to the wiki, you could place them every 26 blocks and get a constant speed of 8 m/s. I haven't updated yet so I can't test that myself.

I've also repaired any structure found to be destroyed. Time is of the essence to let me know what is still messed up, records are cleaned after 3 days.

All 24892 blocks damaged by the griefing have been repaired. Took me approximately 2 minutes. Kind of pointless to do that now isn't it. A full backup of the map was also performed last night. BigBrother knows all, and can fix all.

...Okay, so I'm a little embarrassed. Less than an hour editing, and I've depleted nearly a third of a stack of iron blocks (not ingots). That's virtually the entire supply of iron on Sharerim. Minecart tracks be expensive! :ermm:

Guess I'll be spending part of tomorrow doing a bit of mining to replenish at least some of it.

Will Lydia be facing any consequences? After all, she was the one who vouched to let him in. I don't want to be a dike, but we should be responsible for the actions of any non-bgsf member we invite to the servers. Or, we should just not let any non-bgsf people join the whitelist

Essentially she can no longer vouch for people. When it's decided to let her vouch for someone again, if she requests to add another griefer, even unknowingly, she will face the same punishment. Council would decide from there.

I built that. I was glad to find something new to add onto the road between the tower and the nether portal. Eventually I'd like to fill it all up with other buildings for other things, so that the walk to and from the tower and the portal doesn't feel quite so long.

I found it funny that I unknowingly made the doghouse bigger than our own house (the "bed sweet bed" one). Unfortunately I think the wolves will mostly have to stay inside there because not only are they a pain to get through the doors, but not all of them stand back up, even when splashed with water. :confused:

And I added the iron and wood doors to the tower. I didn't have a problem with it not having doors before but at one point I came into the tower and there were so many farm animals jumping around in there I could barely move without one jumping in front of me. Not to mention they're all pretty loud when in a group. When I was about to add the final door, a cow jumped in front of me, looked inside the almost sealed tower full of partying pigs and chickens, looked back at me, then happily marched on in. I'm sure you can imagine he was treated very well after I added that last door.

Then the minecart track will both help and hinder. Help because it's faster and a tad less monotonous, and hinder because I built it to one side of the walkway. Ah well, someone can always reposition it!

Not really. When you vouch for one of your friends to be added to the server, what they do is your responsibility. It keeps people from vouching for random people who aren't responsible enough to play on our server.

Well through BB I can tell that she was in the area with the fire literally less then one minute before it was lit up. She took a glowstone block from one of the lamps at about 22.42.57 and the fire started nearby at about 22.43.17.

Even though she didn't start it, she didn't stop it, nor did she report it.

Of course it's always possible that she logged off right after she took the block.

Well with Big Brother we no longer need to rely on suspicion as Big Brother sees, records, backs up and knows all. I have no problem letting you back on. PM me your username, and place it here, as I have forgotten it.

Why do I still read this thread yet I don't play MC anymore? Also, more pics of the stuff you guys build.

I still keep this thread tabbed even though I don't play on the shared map or the server... I just like hearing of what the BGSF community does, and I enjoy the occasional pictures that get provided. I've also checked out the shared map a couple of times, to see what you guys have done there (and to get some inspiration for my own work, I get the equivalent of writers block in Minecraft )

How do I get in? With my 1.5 client it says "end of stream" and with my 1.31 client it says "out dated client".
