I plan to make a pyramid in the share world. The problem is getting it in the middle of the water.

You've got the whole world at your disposal ;) Go for it.

Just don't walk 10,000 blocks away prior to putting it in the water. Kinda bloats the filesize!

Pyramids are sooo 20th century BC.

I'm thinking a huge planet-sized octahedron encasing an incredibly complex labyrinth that will take days to navigate. And in the center a delicious cake, visible but completely inaccessible without dying a long and painful death.

Question and Answer - updated!

Q: What is this share map thing?
A: A Minecraft share map is a singleplayer map that one person plays at a time. They have a set amount of time to play it, and when they're done, they upload the map for the next player in the queue. Rinse and repeat. That way, you have a single world with a shared creative vision without the multiplayer.

Q: How long will I get the map for?
A: When you come here to download the map, make a post saying you've got it. Then go edit. You have 48 hours from the time of your post to work your magic and upload the map.

Q: What if I'm not ready for it?
A: You have 24 hours from the time the person before you uploaded to acknowledge you've got the map. If you know your upcoming turn won't be good for you, post ahead of time and you can be bumped down the queue. If that happens during your turn, you can have the map again in the next rotation - just upload what you've already done, if any.

Q: Are there any special rules?
A: Not really, other than don't be a dink. If you do, we'll just revert to a previous save and bar you from the rotation. The only big rule we ask is to please play on 'Peaceful' because we wish to preserve the built structures. Other than that, simple etiquette takes over. If you use things, try to replace some or all of it. Leave resources for the next player. Don't destroy their creations (at least, not without asking), even if they don't meet your standards.

Q: How can I download/upload the map?
When you download the map, it will have instructions along with it. Just follow them to unzip the save to your %appdata%/.minecraft folder, change the name of the folder, then start the game up. For uploading, use your favorite zipping program to package the save folder and instructions up, then upload them to a file hosting service of your choice. There's lots out there, like http://www.4shared.com/ or http://www.megaupload.com/ and more.

Q: Can I be a part of this?
A: Of course. Just post in this thread that you want to join, and you'll be added to the end of the queue.

Mr. E, could you also add a bit in there about renaming the save folder when you upload it? People seem to have been forgetting to do that. For example, http://i54.tinypic.com/2upy99f.jpg for round one. Before Fishy is finished with this map, the folder should be renamed to "R2, Session 1." When it comes time to upload the save, the folder that will be uploaded (not his actual save) should be renamed to "R2, Session 2," and when it comes time for the next person to upload it, they'll have to rename it to 3, and so on and so forth.

Hopefully you can make that sound less complicated than it actually is. :P

Nice organization :icecream: (PS: No :foodndrink: . Because :foodndrink: + :icecream: = )

I included an 'instructions' file along with everything when it was my turn - has that survived? Perhaps we can update that, since this is more something to worry about after they've already gotten started. I'm hesitant to front-load too much information because the more there is, the more likely it will all get skipped over.

No I'm afraid you were the first and last to upload that when you finished. Everyone after you just uploaded the file itself. It'd be cool if we could maintain updating a read-me, and maybe even a changelog to let the next person know what we changed, but we'd really have to stress that people remember to do this.

Edit: Oh but if you mean do I still have your read-me then yeah, but as you said it'd need a lot of updating.

I don't like the color scheme , it still looks cool but the colors are meh well so are the colors of the foreign quarter of vivec me and my friends worked on. We used primarily solid stone that we harvested endless ourselves . I just wish there was some way the coloring would look better. From what I saw different the last time I was there was that the hallways that brought you up floors were really small.
Another thing where is the the guy with the boat in the front of vivec ? You know the one that brings people around the city ?

We have only done the exterior of the FQ so far. We are obviously going to finish it as best as we can.

Repost from Jamie EP's forums since not everyone who uses the server checks in there:

Ladies and Gentlemen of The (Imperial) City, Welcome... To the Arena!

The Colosseum, located near the back wall of the Maxwell Heights district (NW of the Council Tower) is now open for business. At least two combatants and a third person to operate the gates are required to have a match.

Matches:

At the moment, the Colosseum is available for Quick Matches and Official Matches:

*Quick Match: Two or more people battle for fun or profit. Combatants set up rules and equipment used in match themselves. If bets are placed, both combatants will pay the Gate Operator, who will then give the money to the winner of the match when it is over. Currently, spectators may not bet on these matches, unless one of the combatants or the Gate Operator is willing to pay them their winnings themselves. As of right now, these matches are free to play and spectate.

*Official Match: Matches held between Blue and Yellow team members. These matches are held so combatants may advance in rank and become a contender for the title of Grand Champion (system explained in depth below). For these matches, the gate operator must be an official Colosseum owner or employee (currently only I fill these positions). Equipment used must be of Iron quality or lower. Bow and arrows and lighters are allowed. No placing or destroying objects may take place in these battles. Wolves are not allowed. Only spectators may bet on these matches, and all bets will be paid to Gamemastr35. Spectators who bet correctly will receive double what they bet.

Teams and Advancement:

Official Matches are fought between the Blue and Yellow teams. They are fought in order to advance in rank and eventually gain the option to challenge the Grand Champion. It costs 100 septims to become a competitor in the Colosseum (75 if you join through the Grand Opening Tournament). There are four ranks in the Colosseum:

*Pit Dog: All combatants who join after the Grand Opening Tournament (explained below) will start at this rank. They must win one match to advance.

*Knight: The second rank. They must win either three matches against a Knight, two matches against a Hero, or one match against a Champion to advance.

*Hero: The third rank. They must win either four matches against a Knight, three matches against a Hero or two matches against a Champion to advance.

*Champion: The fourth and final rank. They must win three matches against a fellow Champion to become a contender for the title of Grand Champion. If they lose their match with the current Grand Champion, they must win three more matches to once again become a contender.

If a player is banned from the server for any offense, they will be stripped of their rank and forced to begin again as a Pit Dog.

Grand Opening Tournament:

Date: TBD (will edit this post when a date is decided on)

The Grand Opening Tournament will be held to determine the first Grand Champion. All other competitors in the tournament will be assigned to either the Blue or Yellow team at the rank of Knight. All matches in the tournament follow the same ruleset as an Official Match. It costs 75 septims to join the tournament, and you will not have to pay the 100 septim fee to become a competitor in the Colosseum afterwards. Contact me to join the tournament.

List of competitors:

I hope in the future there's a more practical use for gold than aesthetics...

Can anybody here help me with this? I downloaded the Thalis HD texture pack using MCpatcher and it changed the terrain and some of the block icons but it didn't change the tools, mob skins, or the interface like it said it would, also the water isn't transparent like it's supposed to be. How can I fix this?

This may sound kinda crazy but hey um look at this thread about the "far lands"
http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1020&t=289810&sid=8cd1c177eaf5fc7bfd1d9041c5ae4f6c&start=30
Do you think the server could handle a journey there?

No.

Location based shops are currently enabled, as I've finished most of the sign stuff(Still a few redundant shops to build). Shopping must take place within a 'shop'. All shop commands still work within any shop, for now. Shops are located against the southern wall of The City, near the gate. I'm aware of certain complaints, and am working on the best possible implementations that would still maintain the goals for game play. More to come.

Minecraft is starting to look promising, I havn't played it myself a single time but my friend playes it on the schools computer and there is a lot of crafting and huge building projects in it and what not. I'm thinking of getting it myself. Oh who am I screwing, I hate keyboard and mouse combination. I hope they give us a console version of it, now wouldn't that be cool? ;)

You do know you can use a console controller with Minecraft right? and almost any other PC game for that matter...

Place everything you are uploading into a zip file, preferably with http://www.7-zip.org/ .
