What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of beasties that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allow you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines. The multiplayer is very similar to the single-player, just with more people.

Well since I love the server too much I want to give a donation. I am not sure how but I will talk with my mom about using her credit card or something.

I would pay a bill or two, but I don't have access to online banking nor a credit card. :cryvaultboy:

Can prepaid cards be used to donate? If so, I can look around for them.

I've already posted this at Jamie's, but I am willing to cover around 10-15$ on the bill each month.

Alrighty. I figured as much. That being the case, I'm going to trim the top part down to 1/4 of the size (which was going to be the only functional part anyway, the rest would just remain a skeleton frame), concentrated near the logging area, which will be far enough from town to be surreptitious. Because, ya, it's freakin' ginormous.

Ok then, that'll be much better. You could still keep the part of the frame that's in the water if you want, and maybe build a road around it, just outside of the frame, so it doesn't look so out of place.

Yeah, the main city is corrupted, which is why the spawn would be moved.

I don't know what caused the corruption, but it started with Maxwell Heights. Its basically just crippling lag that disconnects you. I think its spreading to the rest of the city now, since I keep experiencing the lag if I'm even close to the city at all.

Indeed. If Tank can't find a fix, and if it is spreading, we may have to go to a new map.

Not sure if I mentioned this yet, but when I went over to Maxwell Heights when the corruption first started, it was thunderstorming. It only started storming right as I approached the main area of corruption, and Terpy was also online at the time and didn't mention it storming wherever he was. That was the only storm we've had on the server so far (that I know of), so it's possible that could have had something to do with it. Might want to mention that to tank if you can, see what he thinks.

I've seen 3 storms happen on the server so far, other than the odd case you mentioned, they all acted normally.

Edit: Accidentally quoted Saurok instead of Game.

Tank has been over here, drinking, playing poker and getting his ass kicked at Mortal Kombat by me. I'm not sure if he went home or not but I do know he has to work in the morning. We're pretty sure it wasn't the weather as the weather hasn't had any adverse affects on the rest of the map. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with War or nSpleef as that is the only part of the map that had those to mods active. I had removed them to no avail but Tank is going to look into it. The mods may have corrupted the map and removing them may have been too late already.

Glad to know we have such hardworking admins

All kidding aside I really hope something can be done, but I don't think it will be a huge deal if we have to absolutely get a new map.

Just thought I should mention that there's now a thread over on Jamie's about the map corruption and what we will do if a new map is needed. If anybody wants to add their feedback to how they think switching to a new map should be handled, they should go over there and post. All ideas are welcome.

I'm only in favor of a new map if we can all decide on what form the new main city should take. Let's call it a theme.

Should it be medieval? Should it be science fiction? Should it be modern, post-modern, post-post-modern, ultra-modern? A city that only exists in the Nether, where you have to go out in to the overworld to get supplies? Perhaps a map made up almost entirely of ocean, with little islands scattered around, with the biggest one being home to the main town. Perhaps a Rapture-esque town? So many options.

I think first we need a good map seed, and a good location to build within it. And I think, whatever type of town we decide on, we need to have the whole playerbase involved in building it from the beginning, not just the admins and a few assorted people. We'd keep it as organized as possible, obviously, but everyone needs an input in how the city takes shape. Plus it won't take as long.

I like this idea. Plus, I'm partial to a HUGE OCEAN and a few islands. World edit would be perfect for this.
