Yea. Maybe only under certain cases for plot lines and temporary amounts of time. But for now I am leaning towards no magic.

I would like to have limited use of magic. I'm sure that there might be some use for healers and such. We could limit magic users so that there is only few mages in the realm.
Who opens those Gates to hell anyway?

That would make possible to play as lone wise mage (who lives in mighty tower of course)

Server has been restarted.

Some of the lag may have been alleviated had jestservers not disabled the latest update (it doesn't work with something or other)

-_-

Notch also needs to get his [censored] together.

I vote we use Gamgee's combat system. Count me in. :)

Also, as for magic (and I'm sure a few people won't agree with me on this), I say we allow admins limited magic use. They're basically the only ones who can do anything out of the ordinary in Minecraft that could be considered "magical", such as teleporting, spawning things, etc. It would make the most sense, IMO.

I strongly disagree with your idea. Either we all have magic or nobody does. IMO we shouldnt though.

I don't think we shoul ever change worlds, not for a looooong while. This world has so much history to it.

Me, Saurok and fanner were going to handcraft a cityscape but now that I think of it... I would like to keep this world as long as possible. Nostalgia :P

No leveling up is possible as of right now. I should have you all know that magic at low levels is very very underwhelming. Leaving you easily slaughtered by even a rogue. I'm going to say that we do not have any magic at all. The exception is plot specific characters if they ever exist. Meaning the chance of actual magic being in game is supremely small. Magic is terribly hard to balance, and harder to implement in a game like Minecraft. It would just be too much work. And magic svcks at low levels. But then again I can only cast my vote in. It is up to the majority to decide if they do want magic and in what way ie for all, or only for admins.

If we must have magic I will not allow it to be for just everybody, but just the admins and or select exceptions.

Edit
Magic is a whole new system on top of this new system people might not be familiar with. I think we should just keep it simple for now with no magic.

Keep it simple, though I would kill for some mindflayer minions or some of Gamemastr's skeletons under my control in a future build.

We will decide the details later. I need to see if people are committed to this idea. Just give it a few days for the opinions to come in and I will start working on detailed rules for the game to work. We would all have to agree to certain conditions for any of this to be possible. But that is a discussion for another day.

There was a significant update on Halloween, added a new dimension, mobs and new blocks.

create an obsidian doorway that is 4 blocks wide and 5 blocks tall, and use your flint and steel on the bottom obsidian blocks

Are those bricks what were the standard red bricks in the default textures? I like having a nice and colourful building material to mix things up a bit. Other than that, looking really good!

I don't think it really works as a block in the same way stacked bricks or packed dirt do. Could possibly work better if you threw in some larger rocks in with the smaller ones.

Well the FFN scored it first victory today against the Legion. I'll post more about that later.
Anyways I then went to threaten the Talos Imperium to find out that it was flooded :(
Oh well I fixed it up, but don't take this as a sign of weakness :P

I also like the bricks Exorince. I think the tree could be a little bit more smoother though.

If this combat system is the only way to keep the death legion scum out of New Montreal then count me in.

For freedom!
