The server won't work until Hmod is updated.

As for Wamp's post about the "build anywhere" policy, this entire time I have been treating non-legal homes/cities as just that. So far the only legal place is Torhemn as Aldgate was destroyed. If you had noticed, I didn't ban anyone for destroying Sierra 1 because according to server rules, it wasn't a legal building. Instead I got revenge by filling the New Montreal tower with ice blocks.

As for Monkey building with gold.... yea I took it. Cliff was giving the building away and it was before I knew anyone had claimed it. There is also the fact that it is indeed an illegal building. Do I have to give the gold back? No, not according to server rules. One shouldn't build with valuable blocks anyways, you're just asking for it to be stolen.

Should anyone be banned for messing with Sierra 1, Ironhold or the Red Road? No, they are not legal structures.

Should anyone be banned for messing with New Montreal? No, it is not a legal structure.

Does illegality mean one can destroy an entire building at whim? Pretty much, but that isn't an ok to go around destroying EVERYTHING you see... but you could. Ever see those bandit homes around Aldgate flooded with water and/or lava? Yea. Those were Admin doings way back when.

Am I the ONLY one that was following server rules here?

I think the "server rules" are pretty outdated, since the collapse of Temple Wars. There are factions within the game, which is good because it adds to the dynamic, but we need to respect other peoples' rights to build without fear of someone trashing the place.

Those rules svck. They never seemed to work, and its only gotten worse now that they are out of date.

The update has not been available for a while, and I always wait a while to make sure the update doesn't do something that breaks the game seriously - now updated.

If this is Neo Montreal Rebels doing, you understand that griefing us does not help at all. If this keeps going, we will scorch Neo Montreal to dust and scatter remains into Tundra wind!

Please do not destroy Neo Montreal in the process, thank you. ;)
I gave it away, expecting people would build something together inside, not fight over a hollow shell.

I don't mind the ice placed inside, it's a nice warning against possible griefers. But I wouldn't have appreciated if TNT was used, for instance.

Simply keep mind that if the "Grief and you shall be griefed" rule is applied, then do so on the griefer's buildings. Neo Montreal does not belong to anyone in particular. So grief the potential griefer's place if the rule above is applied (Though I don't like it).

We'll see how it goes. I never expected there'd be a World War around a french-canadian city. ^_^

Wamp, Hey0 needs to be disabled in order to use the new server software until Hey0 is updated otherwise the server wont work.

Also, Notch's nw texture pack plugin isn't working for me.

Same. Actually mine crashes.

This thread shows how to use them.

EDIT: Actually it works, but only on 32x232 textures or less.

So I'm using Frenden's texture pack for now. :P

those with wooden structures be warned. Until our mods are updated all anti-griefing measures will cease to function.

You can use http://http://painterlypack.net/ as it still uses the same resolution as the originals. You can even customize it!

Nope, it's a relic from Notch's debug accidentally left in.

Wamp shut it down, cuz i didn't. I assume he is trying to get our mods disabled until updates are out.

Also, the source for SMP lag has been found. The biomes update is causing the server to EXCEED its max RAM when it shouldn't. This is due to a flaw in the code. This is what is also causing the save corruption and disconnects. The code is munching on the RAM like a hungry fat man.

Damn Undone. I'll have to start a new area.

Also, what's your favourite block type guys? I'm trying to think what block I'll use to build my next SP Castle. Maybe cobblestone (not smoothstone because it will take massive amounts of coal).

I think cobblestone works better than stone for castle-like structures. The SP save I'm working on just now just has a small wood/cobblestone/glass building. With the ground floor made of wood and the top floor made of cobblestone, 'cuz I'm so unconventional like that. Brick works well for out-houses I think, but not so well for large buildings. Iron blocks make for great flooring, but they're not as easy to build up in SP as they are in multi.

Nobody is taking the old rules seriously anymore, I don't think anyone should go around destroying buildings because they are 'illegal'. The world would've been pretty boring if the only real structures were inside Torhemn, after paying gold for it, etc.

The sieges thing sounds rather pointless to me too, since there is no player damage, and especially if it's done when the owner of the attacked building isn't even there. It's just legal griefing.

Now I just spawned 3 Hell Gates one besides the other. And I don't have any diamond pick yet to remove them. :lmao:

What I think we need to do now is stop griefing entirely until we figure out how we're going to handle it. From here on, if you are caught griefing anything, illegal building or not, you should be banned. Plain and simple, no questions asked. You can explain yourself to an admin to get back into the server. While this new 0 griefing policy is in use, we should be thinking of ways to have constructive griefing rules, such as what Wamp suggested earlier about how Suffca should have handled griefing the Legion Fort.

Just my two cents.

We should definitely do a massive overhaul to the server rules, considering they seem to be not only out of date but not actually followed by anyone. I don't see why we all just can't choose locations to build that are far enough away from each other to not be an eyesore to any neighboring settlements, and just do our own thing. Then if nearby settlements agree there could be some sort of transportation network placed between them, either for peaceful purposes or to make any "sieging" RPing we do easier (once we learn how to actually do that properly so that it doesn't devolve into griefing).

That's what I was trying to do last night. I was on until around five(?) last night tunneling out a building space underground. No one will ever find it now! Muahahahaha!
