What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of beasties that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allow you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines. The multiplayer is very similar to the single-player, just with more people. Right now neither enemies nor damage function, however an update fixing this will be arriving shortly.

Server Information
As the BGSF is the center of all good in the gaming world, we have appropriately set up a server - we started on a humble hamachi server, locally hosted, but have since risen in the world, and now have a dedicated minecraft server! You can find the details below, and if you'd like to help us keep the server running details can be found at the spawn .

Entry Requirements
To access our great and grand server you have to meet one of the following criteria - your application for the IP will be assessed individually and you shall be pmed by a moderator with the IP. This could take some time, and it is possible to be denied access.


1. You are 'Curate' forum rank or above (1 gold star) - this indicates to us that you are a member of the BGSF community, compared to a passing vagabond looking for some quick fun. As this server is aimed towards the community we do expect our members to be a part of the community.

2. You are a friend of a known player, and they have informed us that you wish to play. If you are a friend of a member we expect, by proxy, that you'll be a mature player and good fun to be around.


3. You do not have any rank on the forums, however have proven yourself to be an active member of our thread. If you've posted in our thread for a week or two, shared your projects, screenshots of your single-player obsidian factory, and generally proven yourself to be a friendly person that acts in an appropriate manner you will be allowed onto the server.

Hmm. I have two projects im thinking of doing.

Is there really any point to the Nether besides light blocks? I have to be missing something, but it seems like a useless area. Quite a disappointment after all the diamond hunting I went through to mine the already rare Obsidian.

it has a 1:8 compression rate to the real world. Each step you take is 8 in the real world. Mostly for a dangerous quick travel.

But for that to benefit you, wouldn't you have to build a bunch of portals? I don't understand how that's helpful.

Water + lava = all the obsidian you'd ever need

True. But when I tried to make Obsidian myself I'd only get 1 block at a time (I was probably doing something wrong). That's a huge waste of time. I got lucky in the end and found 5 large natural Obsidian deposits though.

1. Find a lava lake underground
2. Drop water from the ceiling
3. "Lake" of obsidian

If you click the bucket directly on the lava it just evaporates.

It has to flow over the lava though, not just fall on top of it. That will just turn it into cobblestone.

If you make a water source block above lava it will pool on top of the lava and turn the entire surface to obsidian. It only makes cobblestone if you douse flowing lava.

If it's how I assume it's going to be, which is everyone is able to be killed at any time, I say, until we figure out a better way to handle it, someone should have to challenge someone else to a duel and that person should have to accept if they want to kill them. Otherwise everyone will just get mad that they're getting killed for no reason.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was just a free-for-all, but I know some people have already been voicing their displeasure for PvP, so we'll have to regulate it somehow.

I say that any player-griefing should warrent a swift ban. Not a perma-ban, a temp one will work fine. We should implement a strike system. Three strikes and you're out for good or until a mod decides to give you another chance. There would be ways to reduce your "warn level" if you will, such as being a productive member, helping out mods/other members, or just not doing it again.

Calling it right now. Assassins guild and don't lie we know its going to happen. I can see certain people agreeing to killings and not informing people of them, and then accusing the person being killed of being a drama queen and offer pic or didn't happen ect.
