No. When your banned your banned from a server. Servers are hosted by customers who downloaded the server software. Getting banned doesn't effect your standing with Minecraft's creator or the status of your account. Rather, getting banned means that the server you were banned from will no longer accept login attempts from your account. Getting IP-banned means a server won't accept login attempts from your IP address.

Admins can put your name and IP on a global ban list. Other admins check this list periodically and add any new names and IPs to their own server's ban list. I think Wampbit has done this once before with someone who was a particular :spotted owl: on our server.

So, I had installed the latest build of craftbukkit onto the server as I saw that it added some other commands. I started the server to test out if some of the admin commands had been added. When I started MC, I got an update. I think my client is newer than the server so... I can't connect.

I'm so sick of waiting for new wrapper builds, unannouced client builds that break server connectio, etc etc etc. I could scream bloody [censored] murder. I'm so pissed off right now.

If all had gone as I had hoped and new commands were in that we needed, I was going to open the server to everyone while I was on so that people can at least get some play time in and get started on their starter homes.

But no.

My understanding of the current situation is that; you update the server, then Notch releases another update making the server too old to use, you update the server and then the circle continues. Is that the problem?

The problem lies more with the external mods that the server relies on than the server itself.

Is killing also against the rules? I haven't killed anyone but there are people who try to trap me and then throw lava.

Servers are owned by other players. There's no set list of rules that servers have to abide by. They make their own rules.

On our server I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to kill each other.

So, am I allowed to ask for the IP here, or is that against the new rules? If its not, I'm Ewoklord in Minecraft.

Nothing wrong with trapping your own house against thieves though.

everytime I try to join it never works. Well it worked once but it loaded so slowly that the whole map was pretty much a void.

was having problems earlier but that should be fixed now (aside from everything being difficult to get into cause of minecraft server migrations)

What about booby trapping other peoples homes? As in planting TNT everywhere. Then setting a pressure plate. Good idea huh? Technically it wasn't me who did that but the owner themselves. So I wouldn't get into trouble. This plan is bullet-proof.. :chaos:

here are some snaps of the iron fortress we have constructed, it's not legit, we did not mine that much iron, however all the other buildings were made legitimately.

right now the server is having connectivity issues, as even i have a hard time connecting from time to time, and i am on the same machine the server is running from. if anyone has any insight as to what the problem is i'm more than happy to listen, but from what i hear, it has more to do with notchs server migration messing things up right now.
