They better have a height limit.

Well, if you make proper battlements, they should not be able to climb all the way up...

Yeah, just have a ledge that juts out and they shouldn't be able to get up.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/93/Birch_in_Kamikochi.jpg. Compare the two.

Of course, when Notch said "Birch" I guess he meant "retexture".

Yes, but that one is rather thin birch. There is also bulkier birches, atleast here in Scandinavia that is.

Yeah, those will be so fun to use as classic "arrow trap floor" where whole damn hallway is full of pressure plates which activate bunch of those things :)

I know, but they just look so out of place. I'll just have to get used to them.

Also, they conflict with the Painterly pack, though I imagine so does any new texture.

With the major SMP bugfix Notch has just released, which requires a new map, I think we're going to press ahead with plans. I'm eager to get the server up and running again. I'll pull a relatively late night on this one (not too late, uni at 12 tomorrow) if need be.

Just writing a quick note here as I don't have much time. :P

I prefer not to be on the Council List, as I can be months without playing Minecraft if I'm bored with the game. (I'm always switching games. :P)

I'll add more when I'll be back. But I just wanted to clarify this for now. ;)

Is the server back up? I tried to connect and got in for a moment, but crashed due to "malformed byte error" or somesuch.

No, server is still down. I think that's a generic error between mismatched client and server versions. We might have the server up by the end of tomorrow, but can make no promises.

Nice update. ^_^

Am I the only person experiencing a crapload of bugs with this new update? Minecart tracks won't lay right and mobs are spawning despite being shrouded in light in the lower levels.

I was on the server, I saw the new world. But sadly I was kicked by an admin in about 15 seconds.

That was not the correct new world. We seem to be having our usual issues again. The world was explored and initial planning done by Bonemonster and I on a server I hosted locally. The world folder has been sent to Wampbit, but is coming up with a different world when uploaded to Jestservers. We're working on fixing that...
