Has anyone tried making a lighthouse with Lava yet? I'm thinking of building a lighthouse with a diamond shaped glass lava container on top and I'm wondering how practical it would be (and how smooth lava placement would go)

Is there any reason we can't have the lockable chest mod to stop stealing?

Works fine, so long as the lava is completely isolated from any wood. Make a bowl shape to place the lava in so it doesn't flow over any edges and you should be fine.

A thought occurred to me. If my suspicions about Blahberry are correct, what if he put that sign there because, using his transparent texture pack, he saw one of my storage areas underground, but realizing he couldn't get to it, posted that sign in anger? Let me explain. A good portion of my territory is covered in a cobblestone floor floating off the ground, surrounded by walls on most sides. Because of this, underneath it is a "basemant" area, which is dark, and FULL of mobs. Underneath that floor, somewhere, there is a chest, but there's also 20+ mobs "protecting" it. So my theory is that the mobs stopped him from digging down to get it, which is why he posted that sign.

It seems like a stretch, but it makes sense. Why would he just randomly put the sign there if he wasn't upset about something? Keep in mind I've never interacted with him before this. He shouldn't have any grudge against me, until of course the mobs foiled his plan of stealing my stuff.

I've also http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/8302/updatedmap3.jpg. You'll notice I'm a green territory now. I don't want to be robbed, and at this rate I'll never be in a position to utilize the advantages of being a red territory (war, etc).

Other changes include adding Venq's and Carnivore Clown's territories.

Kira Yamato, you need to post a picture of the map with the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1153049-unofficial-minecraft-discussion-xxv/page__view__findpost__p__16901683. Unlike other recent claims, yours is in the middle of other territories and I can't just give you one tile of space.

If there are any new claims I've missed, let me know.

If it's too big an area then just to the edge of the water in I is ok (I added the land as an afterthought since I have a mine that stretches probably out to there)

I made a account and i'm using the free version of course but it won't let me build anything , it just give em a lot of blocks :/ so i was wondering do i need to buy the game so i can build stuff like swords and most things?

I would really like to play this game looks fun but i want to try it first.

Mods, PLEASE tell me we can get the userlist from those ~8 hours. Kira has been hit by the guy planting portals everywhere and stealing Obsidian to make those portals. And now we know he was one of the people on during those ~8 hours. This is our best chance to nab this guy who's been the worst griefer we've had in quite a while.

The land in I would make the claim pretty big for one person so I just marked it up to the edge of the water like you wanted.

Yeah the free version is extremely limited. If you want to do anything worthwhile in this game you need to buy it. All you can do in the free version is make very basic buildings. The fun of looking for things to mine and exploring caves isn't in the free version.

Oh come on now, don't lie to him about what he can build. Someone built the friggin earth in Creative mode you know.

What's in creative mode:
1.Creative mode can generate relatively simplistic landscapes. There's a notable lack of smoothness to the landscape compared to the latest beta.
2. Caves in creative mode are large multi-levelled structures with plenty of open space. the Lower levels of a cave are usually flooded as a result of the fluid physics.
3. Fluids will attempt to fill any air block below them or to the sides of them. A single block of water or lava could fill a stadium if at the right height. The game does not spawn fluids above sea-level. Lava does not exist at ground level. Fluids cannot be brought to higher elevations without hacks to allow the spawning of water or lava blocks or map editors.
4. You are given blocks, and do not need to procure them.
5. Most blocks do not have special effects. The sponge block prevents water from existing near it.
6. Lighting comes at two-levels. In light shadow and in sunlight. If it's in sunlight, it's fully lit, if it's not in direct sunlight, it appears slightly darker, but still very well lit, even if your at the bottom of the world.
7. Hard bedrock box surrounds the map below sea level.
8. Outside of a very limited ability to use fluids, and no ability to create light sources (which you don't need in creative mode), you are not limited in complex your buildings can be. Note, unlike what Antibody said, YOU CAN MAKE VERY COMPLEX BUILDINGS!

The latest beta features:
1. Health bar and enemies.
2. Need to gather blocks.
3. Crafting.
4. The nether.
5. More realistic fluid physics. Fluids are now "limited" if you will and no longer try to spread infinitely.
6. Can generate additional areas as you explore. No appreciable hard sides to the map.
7. Bedrock bottom is no longer flat, but rough. Can have holes in it that lead to a void. Falling in void causes death.
8. New ways to incorporate fluids and custom lighting into structures.
9. Lighting varies from sunlit to total darkness.
10. Caves are narrow, cramped and dark. Can range from small open spaces in the earth to large multi-level tunnels. Very few open spaces compared to creative mode. Occasionally, you may encounter large vertical shafts that lead to the surface.

You're confusing lying with ignorance. I never explored the more complex aspects, because I didn't know they were there, and therefore told him of my simple experience with it. Apparently that experience was only scratching the surface.

Obviously you're not supposed to know that I didn't know about just what you could do, but you also don't have to immediately jump to the conclusion that I'm lying, as some sort of sinister plot to keep him away from Minecraft or something.

Well, I checked the logs. If Blahberry is stealing the Obsidian, then he isn't the one making the portals.

(Server time, Germany) Exceprts from log:
2011-01-04 03:43:43 [INFO] BlahBerry lost connection: disconnect.quitting
2011-01-04 04:57:52 [INFO] *sigh* someone stole my obsidian again
2011-01-04 13:48:19 [INFO] *sigh*... someone left my door open, tore up my font area and made a portal

Someone else griefed firebos' home and built the portals. This log is loooong. I'm gonna need another set of eyes in case I missed something. I'm hoping Undone will take a look at it. Its the last log on the list Undone.

No, I suppose I don't have to jump to the conclusion that you were lying, and I'm sorry that I offended you with a throwaway comment, but that second part is just crazy.

Thanks for apologizing. Now that I know that I don't know enough about the free version to judge it, I wont discuss it anymore in the future. As for the second part, I wasn't being serious, I just like exaggerating things.

I have to say I'm just as baffled as you are as to why I'm a mod now, and if it's that much of a problem I'd like to resign. As you all pointed out I haven't been very active on the server for about a month, but as Undone explained it was because of family problems and, honestly, a bit of "This server svcks now". But I said in the meeting that I'd return if another communtiy project was started (AKA The City) so I am back, like it or not.

Although I quite agree that there are more deserving people who could be mods (Not including you Anti :meh:), and I already talked with someone about having my modship but he said he doesn't want the responsibility, which is fair enough.

I've expanded the west road to end at the delta @ Pov & Suffca, moving northwest from where it previously ended. Should a large bridge be built to lead into the city's land, or just a dock?

A bridge to the new city would be a better idea imho

since boats are kinda buggy atm

or maybe an underwater tunnel

Despite being tricky to build I believe an underwater tunnel would be far more impressive.

I was building one myself in single-player, so I didn't have to walk so far to fix my floating irrigation. It can be really tough, especially getting the water to flow all one way.
