When you guys have some concrete plans on the city let me know. I mean in detail and mapped out so I know what I'm building. I don't want to go on and be told it's all wrong. I wasn't told anything just that we were building a city. So who can say they know what's going on for sure? Does anyone have definite city plans? Which way is inward ect? I don't want to go building my walls all wrong. So where is the person in charge. That or I can go back to being a dwarf in my hermit hole. Your choice.

Edit
Poor choice of words. If the detailed plan everyone agrees to says x. And I'm doing y call me out on it. But if there is no plan, and my work is "wrong" and I do it another way and some other guy says it's "wrong" don't do that. Just to clarify.

Edit2
It would probably help if we started listing what dimensions we want the outer walls and adding it to the first post. So for example 20 squares high, 3 squares in, and then at the top a one square high wall on each side leaving a middle path. As we go through building the city we discuss what dimensions we want, and when agreed upon put them in the main topic. Also we need clearly appointed "managers" that know what the [censored] is going on and can give a final say on something. Simply being an admin doesn't seem to cut it.

I agree with gamgee, we need some sort of boss to lay down the city plans, roads, plots, and districts. I also think we should vote on it. I vote for bonemonstet btw.

So we had our first defense of the wall today! Me and Cliff were getting rid of ugly dirt/stone scaffolding and night fell. As Cliff was removing the last stone pillar, mobs swarmed him and he died. Upon his return he braved the onslaught to recover his items while I defended him. The first wave was literally 10 skeletons! Eventually, Cliff tunneled under the wall and when we emerged on the other side, we broke for the door! We made it, barely.

Looks like Mordor has been visited by the thieving fairy again.

Tonight I'm just going to sit outside with a shotgun and blast anything that moves.

Well, my good computer should be fixed up by tonight, so hopefully I'll be able to help with the city a bit more since I won't have to worry about horrible lag.

Also, Gamgee's right, we could use a better plan for what we're doing. By that I mean something that would outline what we should be working on and where. That way we wouldn't have to wait for Bone or Undone to come online for us to know what to do.

It's a community project. You guys don't have to wait for us, unless you need materials but any mod can provide that. But we do need a basic layout.

I think what he's saying is that you two are really the only ones that actually know where things are supposed to go. I don't think any or us would risk building part of the city just to be told it was in the wrong place.

lemme check the whitelist as that is a rejection response. Did you give me your name correctly?

EDIT: Fixed. It seems I placed a space after your name.

Let me get this straight? There is no way to screw up and build the city improperly? So long as it is divided into what.. three or four zones? That and a wall, and are we connecting the wall the full away around? Or not?

So are walls going to only be placed at the corners of the city, or will there be smaller walls surrounding the rest of the areas so people know exactly where the city boundaries are?

Does anyone know how to fix lag?

At the moment its making the game basically unplayable, with up to a 60 second delay. Looks like I may have just lost a lot of stuff as a result. :(

Here's what I think works. Residential all around the main landmass, with the Admin/Industrial/Commercial sectors in the middle landmass. The little lake/pond near the bottom, or the peninsula where I marked 'marina', are both logical spots to put the spawn point, and logical spots to start the development, since they're focal points. Roads could probably go anywhere (, but where the land bottlenecks is the most obvious place to center a road. As for size and placement of individual properties, I will defer to others, though I think you could take the current player list (about 60) and subdivide enough equal-sized lots lots for at least double that many people.

Legend:
Black = roads
Pink = wall
Blue = residential demarcation
Green = approximative city centre demarcations
White = explanatory text
Pale pink = cartographer grid lines
Orange = if you see orange, get an eye exam.

If that's the case, worse city walls ever. What the hell are they protecting? Nothing? There sort of just out there randomly.

I would guess they are way out there in case the city expands. That's a lot of space for the city though!
