You can use your sword (equipped item) to knock their fireballs back at them for MASSIVE DAMAGE. Its sometimes hard to gauge when to swing though, the timing seems to be off a little Bows work too.

Actually you can use anything to knock the fireballs back. Including your FIST.

It's even more challening when you can't even see the fireballs.
Also, my friend Wooperi would like to join the server (he has an account on these forums, he just registered a few days ago). Is it possible for him to join?

So I've downloaded Minecraft and have built my first home and survived the first night. Now it's the next day and I'm wondering what else I'm supposed to do. I suppose I could dig deep down to get more stuff to make a bigger house, but because I already have a safe place to stay at night I don't see the point in making another one or making my present one bigger because there's nothing to do in it. So far it's been like playing virtual lego. Apart from digging to get stuff to make houses is there any other point to it?

Well... Yes. And no.

Essentially that IS the whole point of the game. Keep digging, keep building.

But there is certainly plenty more that you can do. Dig deeper to get to the coal and iron, then eventually diamonds, that can let you have light and better tools. Venture forth into dark cave to test your mettle against the hordes of zombies and spiders. Build new and unique things for your house, like a http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Jukebox, or an automated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxM1mjEaY9Q. Visit the Nether and undertake the challenge of harvesting lightstone. And lots more.

It's essentially a game that you really have to invest your imagination into, and not just your time, but many of the tools are built in so that the people that do so invest get a very good reward from it.

THAT, is an Epic SeeD. I still propose a list of Epic SeeD's that we have found.

  • http://i.imgur.com/xtQhc.jpg - huge cliffs and overhangs everywhere, spawn in a cave!
  • -2148214628994217412 - (from Minecraft forum "Myles") combination of big overhangs and fields, lava lake near spawn (x: 164 y: 67 z: -293).
  • http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l253/mr_e12345/oicu812minecraft.jpg - many small overhangs right near spawn, fields further off.
  • 404 - see the lake with gravel next door, punch the gravel and go for a ride nearly to bedrock.
  • Glacier - floating mountains and lots of easy-access caves.

Oh, and for the record, "Epic SeeD" was anything but an epic seed.

I started a game on garamel. I really like it. I spawned in that cave with sand, and then walked up to the area surrounded completely by mountains. When I saw my first window to the outside world my jaw dropped. Then I built a nice looking Cobble factory.

Back in the day, lego didn't come with any instructions. That's what Minecraft is: Lego without instructions. Except you have things like fluid physics and fire and lava and minecarts and creatures that try to explode your face. Minecraft has just as much purpose as any other game - to have fun.

So I'm curious, how do these seeds work exactly? Could I "seed" one of my maps? Or does Notch "seed" them?
I'm sure there is a wiki page floating around that I cant find.

Assuming you've downloaded the latest big update, when you go to create a map you'll be prompted to enter a name and a seed. The seed is a combination of letters or numbers or words or what have you that when used generates the same map every time. So using the seed "gargamel" will give everyone who generates a map with it the same exact map. Well not exactly the same, the spawn point will be different each time and the trees wont be in the same places, and there are probably other differences I'm not aware of, but for all intents and purposes the map will look virtually the same to everyone who uses the seed.

Oh I see, so you cant really make a "seed". Its kindof like a blueprint for your game if I'm correct.

There was a little accident just a while ago and mine and expresate's houses were set on fire. Sorry exp, but you have to rebuild some of your house :(

Actually Expresate did the exact same thing a few days ago. Tank rolled back the server to before it happened so that it was as if it didn't happen.

Cool. Tank might have to do it again I'm afraid.

KILL THEM WITH FIRE!

Actually that's impossible. Slimes can not be killed. At all. By anything.

Minecraft clone for XBLA. A lot of people are pissed. The guy making it is a massive [censored], but I don't have too big of a problem with it. I would see an issue if Minecraft was on XBLA, though.

That is something though. Notch could likely make Minecraft work really well on XBLA. It would be really cool if you could have cross-platfrom play too, but that would be unlikely.

Apparently a game that looks a whole lot like Minecraft but with more Dwarf Fortress type of elements (ordering minions to build/dig stuff).

I'm sure a lot of Minecraft fanatics will be all angry and stuff, but I say meh.

That would be great. I hope he makes console versions eventually
