It is really good, although there seems to be a lot of hate between DF and Minecraft. Dunno why, since I play both. :P

But they have so much in common! You can build lots of cool stuff and it has crappy graphics. :P

I can't play much today, but tomorrow do you guys wanna make a multiplayer server? If we really want to get a constant world, I have an old desktop I can set up as a server for us. I mean, Minecraft isn't the most demanding game, i think an old desktop can handle it, right?

Well, once it leaves Aplha stages the price is doubled. If you buy it now you get the beta and final versions for free.

So what is the main difference between Minecraft Classic and Alpha?

Classic is kinda horrible. To be honest the game at it's current stage is worth at least $20. Nothing about it screams "Alpha". If this is an alpha I can't wait to see the finished product.

This game looks like so much fun. I've been watching a couple of videos. I just wish there was a demo of sorts before purchasing. I just want to make sure I don't get bored quickly before paying for it.

I see.

I really don't want to spend too much money at the moment, I need to be sure I like this.
This will be hard decision to make.

This game looks epic. I love that guy's intro video, and the way the tree floats in the air after he hacks away the tree.

May well buy it once I get some constructive stuff done.

10 EUR is a hard decision?

Anyway, I used to mess around with classic Minecraft, back when that was the only version. It was pretty fun, but got boring really fast.

Yeah - and you're basically buying the game WAY ahead of time. You'll get the full release and all... Apparently he's updating today and people are trying to guess what he's going to add. There are some awesome sounding things that have been confirmed for the final game. Makes me excited to see the game progress and see what it eventually turns out like.

Yes. I'm poor student who has too many expensive hobbies.

But I might just buy it if I get my paypal account working.

A month or so back I've seen a lot of stuff about the game and then my friend bought it so I actually had some time with it, I got it the day after :P

I started my first character and after I built 3 houses I started my next big mine and it got huuuge, now I found some Redstone so I mined it but I forgot my one and only rule to Minecraft ("DON'T STAND ON THE GROUND THAT YOU'RE MINING") and fell threw into the infinite abyss and lost my 3 diamond pick axes and all my extra gold and diamonds.

Then because it opened a 'link' to the outside world creatures spawned in my mine and killed me over and over again, they'd spawn at night even after I closed the hole like its outside so I raged and deleted the character just so my friend would tell me on Ventrilo 10 minutes after that I can switch the difficulty to peaceful and it will stop spawning creatures all together which is what I wanted in the first place so now I'm gonna start a new character on peaceful because I just wanna mine and build ;)

tl;dr - Had a character, I raged from a bug and now I'm starting a new character on peaceful.

I  this game.

By the way, is there any point for gold tools? because from my experience its crappier than silver...

I started playing this a few days ago. I got a pretty good start, cause i found a nice place at the bottom of a hill with some coal on the outside. I built my house there and started mining until i found a huge natural cave. Its pretty fun exploring down there.

I got kinda pissed off yesterday, cause i made my first block of TNT and proceeded to blow up the first floor of my house. :P

I dislike paypal's exchange rates. I'm being diddled out of about 2p.

EDIT: Yeah, this game definitely needs a tooltip...

Uh, like half the game is free already, the only thing you pay for is the survival style mode and it's multiplayer where you have to gather the resources before building.

Apparently there is such a thing as being too successful. If you're using PayPal at least. This has happened several times before for others, and it's why you shouldn't use PayPal for anything but pocket money.

Ok, what do you guys do for safety at night? Because I built a little log shelter and thought I was safe, then got killed by arrows from some unknown direction :(

Burrow into the ground and/or make doors. If you hear an SSSSSSSSSSSSSSS noise, run.

I don't really care how the game looks and the gameplay looks pretty solid for an Alpha. Before I buy into it what will the final release version be like? Or has the developer showed anything he's working on?

EDIT: We should absolutely make a BGSF server for minecraft.

Agreed! :D

I'll get the game soon, I watched the 10 minute video from the other thread and it looks great. Well, maybe 'looks' is the wrong word, but you know.

I'm curious though, was there anything in particular that has led to this increase of popularity of the game now?

I think I'll wait until that Paypal mess is sorted out though.

Burrowing in the ground scares the hell out of me. Especially when I dig into a subterranean area. I know that any brick i smash could let something in. It always happens!

So... I just bought the game, literally. Already made a suggestion on the MC forums as well.

Tooltips... tooltips in my inventory would be GREAT!

If we set up a BGSF server would it just run same as the single-player mode but with us all in it? If so, that would be pretty nifty.

What do you guys actually do during the night? Currently I just blockade myself in a little hole and wait until daylight, but it's pretty annoying having to leave the game running to go through the night. Especially since going away from the program automatically pauses it. I don't have 2 screens for nothing!
