I bought it.

Great game.

I started my first game at near a very high mountain. There was water in almost all directions so I started to dig holes to the mountain. First I tried to make huge underground cave network, but then I
started to make small walls and towers around it.

If we start BGSF server, I will be there.

edit - Usually during nights I work inside my mine, crafting, cooking steaks ect. By days, I go hunt some food and other resources which are hard to come by at caves (such as wood).

If we set up a BGSF server would it just run same as the single-player mode but with us all in it? If so, that would be pretty nifty.

What do you guys actually do during the night? Currently I just blockade myself in a little hole and wait until daylight, but it's pretty annoying having to leave the game running to go through the night. Especially since going away from the program automatically pauses it. I don't have 2 screens for nothing!

I think most people barricade themselves in a small cave and dig a bit to gather resources.

Yeah, I probably should have thought about finding some coal for a torch before trying that...

I love my house/cave in this game. Its three stories big inside and two stories tall out side. I also built a fence around ut to keep all the creepers away from my main buildings and what not. I also climbed to the top of the mountain I was building in/ on and when I reached the top I was above the clouds, it was so peaceful and calm up the till, I fell off and lost my bow: (

I'm slowly working away at my house (because that is the first thing everyone builds, right?). I'm right at the top of a cliff by the sea, so I'm mining the stone out from underneath me to build my house. Currently putting the second story up, then I think I might build a basemant. It's a most peculiar design - the ground floor is log, while every other floor is going to be stone :P It's a bit difficult getting my stairs to go in the right direction though <_<

I just lost all of my hard earned items :(
I had full steel suit and weapons when I went to hunt some spiders during night. I was ambushed by two skeletons and died.

What I had in storage at my castle was couple tools and loads of dirt. :P

Update just came out. Doesn't look like much single player stuff, though. A bunch of "Server-side" stuff that makes no sense to me.

Saurok, you have 5 "real" minutes to find your stuff again after you respawn. Since I'm mainly working in the one little area just now (the very slow process of putting a moat around my house and building an epic bridge), I'm thinking of building a railway from my spawn point to my house, just to save a bit of time :P

Nice are you refining the cobblestone also try using the stone plates, they add a real nice feel to the interior and just outside your house

Yeah, nice cobblestone walls. I'm going for wood floors just now. Real wood, not cheap laminate crap.

Is there any way to make a drawbridge, or any other type of bridge that requires an activator to "complete" it?

I'm too late.

I just started to mine more metal to make new suit of armor. I also finished my Tower of Barad-d?r.

Do I need to redownload the client or does it auto-update?

You run the game and it updates.

If you have a texture pack, it will replace it - so you'll have to install it again.

Ooh, a TES server would be pretty cool. I've never tried the multiplayer before but I'd be willing to if it was a TES deal.

I found a cave under my house whilst mining, without a doubt it's the largest of all my cave systems. The last 45 minutes have been spent fruitlessly trying to leave the cave with a crapload of iron, coal and diamond.

I've completed my bridge, which will lead into the underground entrance to my house. Unfortunately 3 of those explodey green things are hanging about right underneath me, and I have no bow to take them out with. Could be a deliberate death just to get rid of them :/

Just bury them.

edit: alternatively, seal them in, then make a shaft parallel to them, quite deep, and then dig across, up and under them. Make a little alcove then knock out the last block and watch them fall to their death, climb down and harvest their materials.

I had an awesome house going with torches everywhere to light up the night real good. For some reason I was outside on the surface and I randomly exploded while attacking a pig for some meat.

Bug or one of those explodey things?

If it wasn't daylight then there's a good chance it could be an explodey thing. What I could have done, since I was up on my bridge, was place two blocks of gravel in a column, remove the lower one, then watch them suffocate!

Can't they come out in any darkness? I always thought that they would eventually spawn in dark corners of your fortress if you didn't put enough torches in it.

The explodey things don't burn in the daylight and die like other zombies. If they appeared in the night, they tend to hang around during the day.

Cpt's right, they're always about.

Anyway, it's a damn shame you can't make custom items in this game - we could have set each other missions to fetch X item from a Y region of the map and such like.
