What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of beasties that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allow you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines. The multiplayer is very similar to the single-player, just with more people.

I agree. It completely lacks the organized and awe-inspiring feeling of the old map. It's just a bunch of random buildings and projects, there's no beauty in the land anymore. I think I'm either gonna go back to singleplayer, or build extremely far away from the city where the land hasn't been uglified (Spellcheck says that's a word? The hell?).

Can we change our homes or personal spawnpoints again?

- Allstarn08 (from previous thread)

The random buildings is not exactly a big problem cause I'm sure somebody would rise up to the challenge of creating a good city infrastructure eventually, like decent roads. Although I agree that there are a few buildings that are totally out of place. And oh dear God those walls =P

Ye beauty there isn't any in the city...ESPECIALLY outside of it (except my mountain, its sixy). People have terraformed it horribly, there is a lack of trees, no sense of aesthetics, and.....other.....stuff

I have been playing this offline or via LAN now for awhile and I think I may not be creative enough, I also need to find a use for hundreds of cobblestone. I am currently in the process of writing a custom server wrapper for my LAN server and I think its just going to be in a Windows command prompt window so I don't need to worry about GUI logic or designing one. Would anyone be interested in testing it out when its done?

Yet.... I remember just last week when everyone was against an organized and planned out city? Irony? :P

Nah, I'm still against it. I prefer a go with the flow 'general city'. Make an organized strict lawed city elsewhere or in the overworld that you and the other admins have planned.

Just give the city some time, it will eventually start to look better.

If you need me to change all of LSO's lockette signs I can.

I'll also remove that account from the whitelist.

Whats the sky dimension?

It's not a stupid question.

Notch is almost certainly referring to the Aether, which is a "heaven" anolog demension similar to the Nether, and was proposed some time ago on the Minecraft forums. It's taken on a life of its own there. As far as I know (And I could easily be wrong) there's WIP mods dealing with the Aether but nothing tangible has yet been released for people to try.

Whether he intends to do it roughly as presented by the fans, or simply take the concept and do it entirely his own way, remains yet to be seen.

I was in the same pickle as you when I had all this cobble stone and I decided to make a tower with it. The only thing is regular cobblestone (without using a texture pack) is extremely unappealing. You can try throwing it in the furnace and smelting it for smooth stone which looks way better or mix it up with another type of block thats relatively easy to make like glass.

That's fine by me. I wish he'd have told me before he just changed the password and etc. Kind of a dike move. Also, when he confirms some things, and gives me the account info, I'll tell you what the sign names need to be changed to. :D

@E- SHRUBBERY? HE SHAN'T HAVE ONE!....Well, maybe just one.

Ah.

There is a major Aether mod over at the forums, but its been a WIP forever now.

It'll be nice to have something though.

Next week already? When Notch said at the start of May it would be 'not soon' I didn't expect it to be only 3 weeks. :P

Do we get there by crafting a diamond block portal? :hehe:

I certainly hope not!

The suggestion mentioned Lightstone as the best option for a portal block, meaning the path to the Aether would require a trip to the Nether.

In the Aether Collab, it's a Glowstone portal. That way, you have to spend some time in the Nether in order to reap the rewards.
