What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of beasties that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allow you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines.

Server Details
As the BGSF is the center of all good in the gaming world, we have appropriately set up a server - we started on a humble hamachi server, locally hosted, but have since risen in the world, and now have a dedicated minecraft server! You can find the details below, and if you'd like to help us keep the server running details can be found at the spawn

The Great Wall.

That'd be a cool project. Break up the world into a civil war and have a giant wall split everyone. Once damage is added that is. Notch needs to hurry up on that.

I don't know if I want damage. That would kind of svck to get randomly killed by players that are just being dikes.

Well people were saying to have no PvP and just have damage on against mobs which I'd be fine with. I just want to hold a fortress down against zombies.

I had an idea of surrounding a settlement in a giant wall of Obsidian (which takes an annoyingly long amount of time to harvest, and as a result, grief), but of course, it would take weeks to do all that farming and building.

Though someone could just build a staircase to the top in seconds, defeating the whole purpose of the wall...

... Maybe from a curse that made them physically unbreakable, but left them multiple times more sensitive to emotional damage? Yes, yes, that will make a fine movie errr I mean roof...

That's why you trap the top of the wall or the area that you drop into on the other side.

Well, we could make the wall reach the upper barrier, so even someone trying to hop over it couldn't do it.

Okay, it could be a wall of adminium that reached both the upper and lower limits of the map, and the lower part of the map would be covered back up with dirt so anyone trying to dig under it would be in for a big surprise...

Simple, just make it a circular wall! That stretches from the bedrock to the upper limit of the sky! It would be soooooo easy to make.

I think it would be interesting if we made two of these massive, unbreakable circular walls, and split the members here in half. Both groups would build together in secrecy from each other (aside from what people would see in the chat log), and at some point (once damage was implemented), parts of the walls would be removed and we could have a true battle for territory.

Of course that would require the admins to take lord knows how long to build these massive walls for us.

Oh wow, I didn't expect so much discussion from the one post.

Anyways the wall is to the "box", which is apart of The temple of Doom. (Lame name I know). So I'm wondering if anyone would like to help me make or play a RPG/ D&D style game within the temple. It will probably have some cheesy story, and will require fourish heroes and some people to play as zombies and what not. I'm thinking there will be several classes you could chose from each one give your team bonuses. Like a worker class could build a bridge over a pit of lava and break down walls that will allow you to access treasure rooms. Which will give you better weapons or gold which you could buy items to help you. (Like torches, arrows and shovels) of course the fighter class will be the main warrior. A black wizard could deal magical damage. A white wizard will heal and cast boosts. A elf, will be good at bows and so on. Of course I know very little about D&D so it would be nice to have somebody help me out with the characters and rolls (please gamgee). What do you guys think, btw? Is it stupid and neva going to work, or will you guys like the idea.
I'm also willing to take in all suggestions and feedback, since I only started thinking about this a couple days ago.

You realise if you build a wall right up to the max height, you can still just build a stack of dirt up to max height and walk over it, right?
