No more bumping after this, but I was wandering if anyone else on these boards is getting the game and wants to exchange PSN tag so we can fight?

there were 2 drawings here, one for a copy of the game, and one for a MK headband signed by Ed Boon. so yeah, i ended up taking home Portal2 (which i had actually come for) and a free copy of MK :celebration:
Also, we didnt have a tournament but the anyone could play a 1 on 1 match against each other if they pleased. i was 4/0.

(got the PS3 Version)

My wife went to buy it last night at work. Because I've been saying for a few years, "We need a good fighty game for the Xbox."

She called me up as she went to the register, "Do you know this game is $100? I'm putting it back."

Needless to say I was saddened.

Did she confuse the normal version with the kollector's/tournament edition? It's definitely not 100 dollars.

I'm only assuming that where she works they only had the Kollector's/Tournament Edition as when I asked her if there was a "normal" non-figurine version she replied, "I dunno." My wife has been rather stupid lately and probably didn't look hard enough.

Spoilers:
Spoiler
Fighting against Bosses:
Naturally, boss fights in MK tend to be annoying as [censored]. This MK is no different. Bosses can power their way through attacks (with the exception of Shang Tsung). They do this by flashin yellow. If you manage to hit them they still take the damage but their attack will follow through as well.

Goro:He likes to taunt,a lot. Use this to your advantage and bust him up with a quick combo. Use jump attacks often but try to keep your distance. Goro goes down pretty easily.

Kintaro:Watch out for his tele-stomp. He has a habit of zeroing in on your current location, regardless of where you were when he started. This gets old and annoying quickly. IF you dodge him, he will taunt. AVOID jump attacks as he has a tendency to grab you with a power move (yellow flash move). He LOVES to telestomp. kintaro is an [censored], but he is beatable.

Shao Khan:I am currently fighting him atm and he is by far the most annoying boss ever, even after what... 15 or so years? DO NOT jump attack unless you see an opening, he will use his dash attack and knock your ass down. Do not go on the offensive as he will just power move his way through almost everything you throw at him. If he taunts, go in for the kill. Block his attacks and counter with a combo. I have yet to beat him. I feel like throwing my controller out the window.

The middle of the second tournament is only HALFWAY through the game. Longest MK ever.

EDIT: Stay back, spam fireballs and when he taunts use a combo that knocks him back. Repeat. Spamming fireballs causes him to taunt every other fireball.

Man this is difficult. In easy arcade ladder and I had to resort to firing missiles at Shao Khan to kill him cause he'd tear me up like I had the game on expert or something. Kinda lame.

I dont like how you cant skip in between fights of the story mode. Other than that, story mode is pretty dope, imo.

Went on a 3 Game winstreak in a KOH lobby. The only character that gave me a ton of trouble when I was playing as Scorpion was Ermac.

Alright Ive been playing it since I go it (PS3) last night at 2am. Gonna go to bed now, but here it is:

Pros
-Best balance in an MK game by far, and generally a well balanced game
-1vs1 Matches online are nearly lag free, and its easy to get a good match.
-Game is deep yet approachable. A Mortal Kombat cake with Tekken Frosting and Street Fighter Sprinkles
-I can go on and on, for me this game is superb.

Cons
-King of the Hill mode online does tend to lag for me.
-You could argue that Scorpion and Johnny Cage are a bit unbalanced, but they are still beatable, I suspect minor corrections to be made down the road.

Thats really about it.

Im highly impressed and satisfyied, I had high hopes and they have been met and exceeded.

I'd like to know hows the fighting mechanics are, are they like MK: Deadly Alliance whee you have to change your battle stance (I really didn't like this methiod) or did they use a more Street Fighter 4 way of doing it?

It plays very much like UMK3 did.

The Core is oldschool MK.

The button layout is limbs kind of like tekken, and the combos are kinda like MKDA-->MKA (no style changing)

The super meter is borrowed from Street Fighter.

Its really its own thing, but it comes together excellently.
