Unofficial Mortal Kombat 2011 Thread

Post » Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:31 pm

O boy I get to start the thread for Mortal Kombat, super excited. *Bounces*

So this game:
Forget about the crappy 3-d games, go back and remember the Mortal Kombat - Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I know that this is an RPG forum, but EVERYBODY played or knew about those games, because they were timeless.
Then Midway ran into some financial problems and the series tried to go 3D less than successfully. The terrible trip into 3D Mortal Kombat games ended in the TERRIBLE MK vs DC game.

FORGET THE HOKEY STUFF

Mortal Kombat 2011 is a return to old school gameplay with just a touch of the new. Goofy gimmicks are gone (some fun gimmicks are staying/introduced). This game is the MORTAL KOMBAT that we have been waiting for since UMK3 almost 20years ago.

This game is fluid, responsive, and fun. A return to the darker Mortal Kombat days, with added modes for casual players (TEST YOUR LUCK). If your looking for a nostalgia fix, this is the ultimate Mortal Kombat Nostalgia fix. Its accessible, fluid, and fun with just enough depth to be taken seriously along with Tekken and Street Fighter.

Please give this game a chance, the last several were not so good, but THIS is the Return of Mortal Kombat.

and dang it, if I havent persuaded you yet:

The full game is releashed to the public April 19th 2011. This thread right now is about speculation, desires, and general fandom.

LET MORTAL KOMBAT BEGIN!

I have honestly liked every Mortal Kombat installment. The 2d ones were my favorite, but the 3d games were still enjoyable.

But I must say I am ready for some old school Mortal Kombat gameplay.

I will definitely be buying it, but I doubt I will get it on release.

I gotta admit, I love the entire Mortal Kombat series... except, for the mythologies and special forces games I never played them. But, I gotta say this remake of 1,2,&3, has my hopes up. Hell, the ability to change the MK storyline sounds pretty solid to me.

Some friends and I used to play MK1, 2, and 3 like crazy in the arcades back when people used to go to arcades. On weekends people would be lined up to challenge the person holding each machine and there were crowds of spectators. This was when I was in school in the '90s...most people here were probably too young to remember. It was a lot of fun to go and play head-to-head against a ton of strangers with big groups of people watching and reacting. I played so much that I was virtually unstoppable at MK1 and MK2. By the time MK3 came out I didn't play as often anymore...I started playing Virtua Fighter and Sould Edge/Soul Blade more.

This is the first MK game since MK3 that I've been interested in. I'll probably get it for the 360. I wish it was coming out for the PC, though. I have a PC connected to my home theater at home alongside my consoles...that would be fun.

Ive enjoyed every Mortal Kombat game because they were all unique. But when I heard they were going back to 2-D I was like

WHAT THE FFFFFFUUUUUUUUU---

I played the demo a few weeks ago, and the only thing I really want is more Fatalities. And maybe the Brutalities and stuff like that. In the demo everyone only had one Fatality but I hope that in the final game they will have more. Oh and I wonder who will be the bonus character for 360. I'm looking forward to Master Chief in a Mortal Kombat game.

Unofficial Mortal Kombat thread* ;)

also, I'm not a huge fan of the MK series, but I did enjoy the old games back in the day so the new one is looking pretty interesting to me. I'll definitely keep an eye on it :)

You have one availible from the start, and unlock at least 2 more. That much is confirmed.

I hope - and this is just me - that they make some easier fatalities. I know that their supposed to be cool, and hence why you need some crazy combo to do them, but I just never seem to be able to pull it off.

Not that I'm seriously expecting them to consider it, but I'd like if there was an easier, but less flashy, one you could do.

Scorpion
Stand close: F D F Triangle

Sub-Zero
Sweep Distance: B F D F Cirlce

Those are on the Demo, along with Mileena and Cage who I cant remember right now. They are much easier than the earlier 2D games and you have a lot of time to do them. The game will even feature a fatality training mode with distance markers. I took the demo to college and people who were just casual gamers were able to do them.

Yeah which is really odd considering everytime we see gameplay footage its on the XBOX360.

I suspect (not confirmed, just my own speculation): Master Chief?

I toyed with the idea of the dovakiin from the Skyrim trailer being the extra character in the 360 version. No way it will ever happen but he's got the moves for it.
