Sorry rmctagg09, didn't see your post where you said you were making a new one.

I agree with your sub-title though, Torterra does indeed beat Lucario. As with most pokemon, especially Charizard.

yep.
I think the 1st and 4th gen had the best Pokemon with the 3rd being the worst

Same here.
I've liked em all but the only ones I liked about 3rd gen were
-zangoose
-seviper
-ludicolo
-absol
-blaziken

All the others didn't really excite me.

Nah Bidoof is more just silly and doofy. Mr Mime is just horrible and awkward like a 40 year old man fondling himself at a bus stop.

Mr. Mime is awesome. He is a mime, they are supposed to look stupid and awkward.

This is someone I can agree with, every generation there's more and more pokemon fleshing out the world, there's new features, and the game gets balanced (may I direct you to the phsychic type in generation 1?).

I agree. The games are not getting worse. If anything, they are getting better (although I do miss those blocky graphics from generation 1 and 2 sometimes...)

Just seen the trailer and from what I have seen, it is looking great at the moment although I am confused to who that wierd person is right at the beginning (before the guy who looks like a cross between wally and red appears). From what I can guess, he is the nutcase boss in charge of the criminal gang in the Isshu region. The triple battles are looking interesting though.
Also, to all of those people on the forums who think the next generation of pokemon is the worst, remember, there always is pokemon quartz (look it up if you have some brain bleach nearby)...

Note: I was typing this when the previous post got locked...

That reminds me, there's a theory on the WMG page of TV Tropes that the villianous team will be a reborn Team Rocket, based on the statements of the Power Plant Rocket.

This time they'll use actual rockets as pokemon. They'll just paint a face on the rockets and use explode in each fight.

Like I said in the last thread, I think the games do get better with each generation, however I think the Pokemon get worse. The Pokemon getting worse and the games getting worse are two different things.

There are some I think are really ugly too, but in general that doesn't bother me much. What does bother me is how ridiculous "legendaries" are now. There are so many of them and their concepts are ridiculously overpowered (D/P legendaries were basically the creators of the Universe). Where do you go from there?

Creators of reality? You can't have all of those nice things like time and space without that. Perhaps they don't need to go that far this time, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and the regis got along fine without creating or controlling anything (well, Ho-Oh is said to have created the legendary dogs but that is an argument for another day...).

Arceus was the creator of reality, wasn't it? Anyway I really hope these legendaries are just, well, normal. I'm tired of saving the world, or the universe, when I capture a legendary, I just want to capture it and be done with it, like in the first two generations.

It was one step higher, it was the pokemon equivelent of God (according to the internet). One book in D/P/Pt said that it created Dialga and Palkia, they created the three legendaries that you see at the tree lakes and I cant remember what happened after that. But yes, I do hope that the legendaries are back to G/S/C/HG/SS standards of power, as in 'not world destroying power, but enough to give it it's own legend'.

Arceus was pretty much god. So since we can capture god, the only logical step is to create satan in pokemon form. Unless Darkrai is supposed to be satan.

You don't really need to escalate every time with legendaries, it's not DBZ.

Gamefreak is going to kill Pokemon with endless power creep,if you look back Pokemon are getting stronger and stronger..Pokemon like Dusclops,Rhydon, ect. got evolutions this gen..why?

They're going to end up trying to add too many things to keep 10 year old's into the game and ignore the people who enjoy the competitive side of the game.

Oh well.

To be fair the competitive scene isn't much fun considering you have to build teams that can survive against stealth rock and worry about every little stat change.

Yeah I completely gave up on trying to play competitively a while ago. It's become waaaaay to complex for someone like me, who simply enjoys battling, but doesn't want to have to worry about the huge amount of variables that can determine who wins or loses a real competitive match.

The early game consists of setting up and/or preventing SR-while it is very centralized it doesn't take away from the fun at all.

Yes some Pokemon are useless if you don't have Rapid Spin(I'm looking at you,Moltres) but it's part of the game and it's pretty balanced.

Status is fine too,it makes you think before you randomly switch..no status is imbalanced(sleep only comes from low accuracy moves for the most part, some pokes are immune to paralyze, ect.)

I don't see your point..it adds thought to the game, there are plenty of counters for each status, and none of them are imbalanced..so,explain what you mean?

Pokemon isn't just putting out 6 strong Pokemon and using your strongest moves over and over, status plays a major part in the game.

Competitive Pokemon is fun, give it a go some time.

There's a lot to learn but it's very enjoyable in the end.

Same here. I just want my little murder machines go around and beat things up. Not worry about whether or not they're killing the right things or if they're optimized or whether or not I should feed them steroids.

Unless this is sarcasm and I'm being dumb.

No sarcasm. Honestly, reading the "Pokemon of the week" articles on Serebii.net makes me run away in terror with my metaphorical tail between my legs. Just far too complex and I don't even want to think about how long it would take for me to learn everything I would need to know to survive in a serious competitive match.

I have given it a shot before and just found it tedious to the point of frustration.

Protip:Avoid Serebii like the plague when it comes to anything related to competitive pogeymans.

It isn't really tedious,it takes a while to figure out but if you lurk on Smogon for a few days you can get the basics down and give it a go on Shoddy(that way you avoid the tedious EV training in-game).
