Unofficial Pokemon thread #15

I don't know why they had to change the names for Pokabu and Mijumaru. I always assumed the reason they changed the names was so they would be easier to pronounce for english speaking players, but only Tsutarja's name would have been a problem. But yeah, I really don't like any of the 3 new names, nor do I like how they changed the name of the region.

I don't see why they changed the name of the region, but I would definitely have trouble saying Mijumaru. I don't have a problem with the name changes for the pokemon, since they always seem weird. I remember back when generation 4 was first being released and how weird it was when their english names were announced. You just get used to the Japanese names and then anything sounds wrong.

Tepig, really? such an awesome Pokemon struck with a bad name. I wonder what the evolutions are called now..
And changing the region name is just pointless. Isshu isn't hard to pronounce or anything.

After a couple of hours to mull it over, I'm over the English starter names, though I still wish they kept Isshu. Ok everyone, which Gen V Pokemon do you think have the best Sugimori artwork? I'll admit I find Baibanira adorable.

I'm actually fine with the English names although the new name for Isshu is going to take a while to sink in. I can also say the fire and grass starter's names but I keep forgetting what the water starter is called.

Still picking Snivy (formerly Smugleaf) as the starter though.

I've started with a Water Type for every generation except Generation III (Treeko was just too awesome not to pick). This picture gives me even more reason to stick with Water types. :P

I just went on Bulbapedia and had a look at what the legendaries look like.

I might not buy this game now.

Spoiler
Victini is why you should never feed meth to your Pikachu.

They don't look any better or worse than the other legendaries.

I stand by what I said about Victini.

The dragons look fine, but their types don't make any sense to me. Why is the black one lightning? Why is the white one fire? Why is the grey one ice?

Thematically, it doesn't make sense.

Shouldn't the black one be dark, the white one be psychic, and the grey one be normal? Or something that makes more sense than what they currently have.

And I just really don't like the genie Pokemon. Or the unicorn Pokemon (admit it. They're unicorns).

With the dragon trio, their elements have to do with their tails. Zekrom has an electric turbine, Reshiram has a get engine. and I think you should look at Kyurem a bit more closely.

Oh, and only Keldeo looks like a unicorn. The others look more like cervid and caprid ungulates.

Does anyone even use legendary Pokemon? I don't like a whole lot of the legendaries, but I don't use them so it doesn't bother me much whether they're cool or stupid.

I will occasionally use them, but I mostly just capture them for bragging rights.

Oh, and I added DEFRON's Friend Code.

Suicune was the last legendary I really used. Part of my all-water in-game team.

Funny you should mention that, Suicune is one of the few legendaries I like. Suicune, Lugia, Mew, and Articuno are the only ones I like.

I preferred Entei, Groudon, and Azelf.

Nope. I don't often use legendaries anymore (although I used to have a Rayquaza on my team). Rayquaza was the last one I used in a battle with another person on PBR and on Wi-Fi, back before I even knew about the tiers list (and ended up using Rayquaza in a no-uber Wi-Fi battle).

Also, I am trying to put a electric pokemon in my team and dropping charizard (at the moment). At the moment it is a Electrode but does anyone have any suggestions? My team currently consists of:
Skarmory [Stealth Rock, Toxic, Flash, Fly]
Swampert [Earthquake, Muddy Water, Hammer Arm, Avalanche]
Typhlosion [Flamethrower, Eruption, Rock Climb (going to replace when possible), Earthquake]
Charizard [Flamethrower, Heat Wave, Brick Break, Fly]/Electrode [Thunder, Rollout, Charge Beam, Reflect]
Dragonite [Outrage, Dragon Rush, Ice Beam, Surf]
Lucario [Aura Sphere, Blaze Kick, Dragon Pulse, Swords Dance]

If anyone can also see any possible improvements, please let me know (I know my team is very weak to Rock, as I found out against Brock. I also have no way of dealing with Psychic types, which I also found out against Will).

Also, does anyone play on Pokemon Battle Revolution anymore? It is the only way I can play pokemon with another person anymore as my brother (literally) refuses to battle me at all (until B/W are released here) and I cannot access DS wi-fi, meaning any training is going to waste. If no-one is online anymore, what is the cheapest divice that will enable DS wi-fi. I would be quite willing to prospone getting Minecraft so I can get it if the device works on Windows 7.

Perhaps you should try getting an Electabuzz or a Luxray. You could also try getting a Light Ball Pikachu.

You get your pal pad after defeating Falkner. Just go into any Pokemon Center and go downstairs. Your pal pad will have your friend code on it. After that point wifi trading can be done with anyone for who you have their friend code and has yours.

the GTS (Global Trade Station) is in Goldenrod City, where you can put up any pokemon for trade for another pokemon in the given restraints you want it in.

You'll need to make sure that your wifi settings are set up properly beforehand for either, obviously. You set up your wifi settings at the game start menu. Just scroll down rather than selecting your save and you'll see it.
