This mod is an effort to fix the vast amount of bugs currently existing in Skyrim and its 3 official DLCs. If you're experiencing a bug with Skyrim or one of the DLCs, please report the bug to us in as much detail as possible on http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/tracdown/categories/12-unofficial-skyrim-patch/. Please use search to ensure that you aren't submitting something that is already there. Please also confirm that the bug you are reporting happens with no mods other than the unofficial patches installed. A lot of Skyrim bugs are actually the result of other mods doing things they're not supposed to. Thank you and we hope you have a better Skyrim experience!

(Note that all fixes are retroactive unless otherwise noted)

  • Ferhis and Dreyla Alor are incorrecltly set as husband and wife when they're really father and daughter. (Bug #20927)
  • Madesi, Marise Aravel, Brand-Shei, Grelka, Wylandriah, Bersi Honey-Hand, Balimund, Elgrim, Hafjorg, Keerava, and Talen-Jei all needed to have their non-functional sleep outfits set to "none" to keep them from offering up their clothing as part of their shop inventory. (Bug #20603)
  • Silda does not have a sleep package. She will now sleep in the Temple of Talos for 4 hours each night. (Bug #20761)
  • Mogrul was incorrectly set to use the CombatWarrior2H when his equipped weapon is intentionally set to a 1H war axe. (Bug #20942)
  • SolitudeStablesKey has been added to the inventories of Fridrika, Geirmund, and Horm. Additionally, it has been assigned to the door [00070bd3] to the Solitude Stables farmhouse [SolitudeStablesLocation]. (Bug #20690)

Audio Fixes
  • Karliah directs the player with the wrong direction to the circle in Nightingale Hall. (sound\voice\Skyrim.esm\FemaleUniqueKarliah\TG08A_TG08AKarliahPreOathQ_0005A0C0_1.fuz) (Bug #20637)
  • Solitude Stables Key [SolitudeStablesKey] didn't have its drop and pickup sounds set. (Bug #20699)

  • Cyrodilic Brandy [WEDL03CyrodilicBrandy] was mistakenly marked as a potion rather than a food item. (Bug #20627)
  • The VendorItemClutter keyword was previously removed on a number of dragon claws in the game. The following claws also needed to have the keyword removed: DLC2SV01HalfClawLeft, DLC2SV01HalfClawRight, dunValthumeIronClaw. (Bug #20823)
  • The following notes were not weightless like the rest of the others in the game: CWMission07InformantLetterSons, DA13AfflictedLetter, DLC2HrodulfsHouseNote00, DLC2POIUshaNote01, DLC2WB01Journal, dunShipwreck04TriusNote, FavorSondasNote. (Bug #20832)

Location Fixes
  • Minor navmesh adjustments in Windhelm north of Candlehearth Hall to prevent guard patrols from becoming stuck on obstacles. (Bug #20820)

  • Corrected hole in cave cliff mesh. (meshes\dungeons\caves\green\cliffs\cavegcliffs01.nif) (Bug #20957)

Quest Fixes
  • During the player's wedding, when Maramal declares the couple wed, it's possible for the spouse to begin wandering off because the dialogue sets the quest stage before he starts speaking rather than waiting for him to finish. (Bug #20913)
  • Companions radiant hunting quests (WERJ10, WERJ11, WERJ12) can run before you've joined them which then causes dialogue problems that will break the intro fight scene you need to watch before you can actually join them. (Bug #20872)
  • In Blood on the Ice (MS11) it was possible to sell the amulet, pickpocket it back, and sell it again repeating the cycle over and over again for infinite gold. A new tracking variable has been added. Calixto will no longer discuss the amulet at all if you've sold it to him, even if you steal it back. (Bug #20930)
  • When your spouse gets kidnapped by bandits (BYOHHouseBanditAttack2) it is possible to kill the bandits and for the quest to end without properly unrestraining the spouse which then causes them to get into a "shuffling" state. (Bug #20724) [NR]
  • In Promises to Keep (MS03) Maven Black-Briar had a dialogue option where you could inform her about the theft of Frost before Sibbi Black-Briar had actually told you this. (Bug #20719)
  • In Lights Out! (MS07) Jaree-Ra has 4 greeting topics that are checking against an invalid quest stage and thus running when they're not supposed to. (Bug #20526)
  • In First Lessons (MG01) it is still possible to tell Faralda you are interested in Elder Scrolls even if you have completed enough of Elder Knowledge and Seeking Disclosure (meaning you have the scrolls already). Her dialogue is referencing an incorrect quest stage. (Bug #20940)
  • Also in MG01, it is not possible to ask Faralda if they'd admit the Dragonborn due to an incorrect quest stage comparison if the main quest was advanced far enough. (Bug #20940)
  • Bassianus Axius has a 3rd greeting that should be available but cannot play due to a bad condition check. (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Bassianus_Axius#Bugs)
  • If Hroggar survives Laid To Rest (MS14) he is never added back into the Morthal crime faction which appears to lead to him being treated aggressively and can lead to fights with guards. (Bug #20141)

Placement/Layout/Ownership and other World Object Fixes
  • 0006B33C, 000B2FE4, 000B2FE6, 0007E144: Spread out the two patrol markers in front of the archery practice area in Solitude so the guards won't be close enough to stop each other from firing due to AI range detection. (Bug #20822)

The previous thread ended on Elaura's post in which she quoted the STEP instructions to install MO in the Skyrim directory. I have no idea why it says to do that because it isn't necessary, and I'm pretty sure that was not part of the original instructions (not the only place where STEP's MO documentation is questionable). I have MO in its own directory, as well as tes5edit. Elaura, try moving your whole MO folder to another location and see what happens.

I'm also curious about that argument you have set in your TES5Edit executable. I have no arguments for any of my MO executables, including that force steamloader thing for SKSE that a lot of people seem to need. I also run MO as administrator, even though it might not be necessary (I originally installed it inside Skyrim under Program Files (x86), and didn't change the shortcut when I moved everything).

Thank you for the reminder. I got lost in the thread closure.

XEdit is now completely independent of MO, and I've re-done the executable so there are no arguments. As for where MO is installed, I'll go ahead and move it. I don't expect it'll matter, but it can't hurt. I think the STEP people may have said that just so they wouldn't have to deal with the extra variable of where people may have installed MO.

In any case, every time I run XEdit through MO, it reports the same 227 ITMs. When I run it outside of MO, none. Until this is straightened out, I suggest putting in a BASH/LOOT message not to clean USLEEP, no matter what any program reports. Even if a dirty edit someday slips into an uploaded version, it will certainly be caught by the first person who downloads it.

BTW, I've been thinking about USLEEP's size. If a new version is ever released that only includes changes to the .esp, would it be possible to upload only the .esp, so the whole package doesn't have to be downloaded with every update?

We happen to think it would be better if MO fixed the bug themselves rather than us having to deal with more workarounds that are only caused because of it :P

Unfortunately that wouldn't be a viable option because it would inevitably lead to a situation some day where the ESP and the BSA need to be used together and someone will skip the larger download and cause us no end of support problems.

I understand why you might feel that way; however, if the tag were there while MO is doing the same thing every other software designer does, which is deny they can reproduce the problem and have me jump through hoops trying to prove I didn't cause it by having my head up my ass, you wouldn't have to deal with more questions from people who stubbornly continue to use MO because despite the support problems it might cause to modders, it solves an enormous number of issues for the end-user.

Honestly, Arthmoor, I really have been on both sides of the troubleshooting issue. Both as a hobbyist and in my professional career. Business and technical, in-person and over the telephone. Writing a little explanation for folks who have some knowledge of how the world turns is not the same as stating the issue is your fault.

I appreciate your help, and, of course, all the time and effort you've put into making Skyrim so much more than it ever could have been without you, but this is beginning to feel like I'm caught back in the middle between the XPMSE vs FNIS tug of war. Please remember, the end-user doesn't care whose fault it is as long as they can go about their merry way. Those users who actually want to help make things better shouldn't be made to feel like ping-pong balls whose IQ comes into question with every hit.

Uh, I think maybe you overreacted to a simple statement. MO should fix their own bugs rather than expect others to issue workaround statements for them. That's all. Nothing more. Nobody was trying to question your IQ or your credentials in saying so.

That said, I doubt I need to repeat our stance on MO in general as having caused us as a team more grief than anything. Sure, that may be biasing the responses we give, but I think we're perfectly justified in calling something out for not following established practices. The whole tool exists to violate those practices.
