Unofficial SteamDRM Discussion #34

Post » Sat May 17, 2014 4:35 pm

That still doesn't make it a Trojan

The Game belongs to Valve, it is their game.

Again "Steam's development began at an uncertain date prior to 2002. Working titles included "Grid" and "Gazelle".It was revealed to the public on March 22, 2002 at the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Developers_Conference, and was presented purely as a distribution network."

Just stop, i understand if you don't like Steamworks or DRM, just don't go making outlandish claims about software that are not true.

A number of posters are mistakenly conflating STEAM is now a DRM, with other DRMs being applied to victims systems via Trojan install methods.
This mistake is generating anger and arguments in the thread.

For me Steam was pretty much trojan'd, as it only revealed itself after I got the game from amazon, and since Steam doesn't use a banner on the package & the only indication was a small blurb in a nearly illegibly small font size on the back

I wish there was some sort of punch line I could add here, but this just seems too complete.

Closed for review and clean-up.

This topic needs a rest, because we're getting to the point where it's really just another hostility-generating machine. Not going to ban the discussion or anything, but the world won't end if everyone takes a deep breath, finds other topics to discuss for a day, and then we'll open another thread later on.
