32gigs? Can you say overkill lol 馃榿
Interesting that the full HD perk chart has been released too. http://bethesda.net/data/images/event/31/Fallout_4_Perk_Poster_web.jpg
I haven't been keeping up to date with the forums lately, so I'm not sure if we've confirmed all the perks, but if we haven't this will surely be the final stepping stone. I can start planning my character!
Yeah, I built my new rig last November, with an i7 5820K (hex core!), 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 980. I wanted to wait for the Ti, but it wasn't on the horizon yet. At some point I may add a second GTX 980, but for now this system handles everything with ease.
I'm between minimum and recommended specs. I built my PC four years ago so I knew this day would come eventually, still, I should be able to play fairly comfortably for a while until I can afford a new build.
They showed the full perk chart when they released the http://bethesda.net/#en/events/game/fallout-4s-character-system/2015/09/24/31 two weeks ago. If you haven't read/watched it, you really should--lots of great info! Now, if only we knew all the perk names, ranks, and descriptions!
The minimum spec for AMD GPU is the 7820, not the 7870.
Edit: I was mistaken.
This is why I decided to go the console route, no more upgrading and expenses as well as headaches. Just install and play! Glad I made that choice
The 8GB RAM and CPUs is what I expected but the GPU requirements surprise me, tbh.
Geez I am out of the loop, how embarrassing. Not sure how I missed that. Cool though.
Isn't this the first BGS game to require x64 OS?
Oh, good. I clear the minimum. Just.
Been pondering an upgrade, but wasn't looking forward to rushing it in the next month if I had to.
Just got a PC yesterday that has an i7 4790k and a GTX 970, just in time for fallout
I don't think so, because the GTX 780 and R9-290X in the recommended specs perform about the same. I see nothing wrong there. I think the 550 spec must be wrong, because that card is a lot slower than the new consoles.
The recommended CPUs are crazy! I think they just picked the fastest available and called it a day. I expect any i5 from 2011 or later will run it fine, like every other game this year.
Well, it looks like I have a bit of shopping to do.
I have an aging Digital Storm system, with an early OC'd i7, and 6gb of RAM in tri channel. Just installed a gtx 970, as I knew my 2x 275 gtx sli config wasn't going to cut it. Now I'm going to have to dish out for a RAM upgrade. Might as well replace all the old dimms anyways.
So, cost of playing Fallout 4 for me:
$60 for the game
$340 for the card
~$50 for the RAM
Total: Doesn't matter; well worth it.
Not surprising, but I'm a little worried since I come in just around minimum specs. May have to look into a new video card, though I have the GTX570Ti 2 Gb. Now I'm glad I got the 2 Gb version back then, though, lol
Wonder where that puts me with my NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB card? I do have 16GB RAM so that may help some. i7 processor. Looks like I'm mostly good. Playable at least I assume, just not maxed out on my 1920x1080 monitor.
Surprised it actually requires 64-bit now, but I guess that was coming sooner or later. But I'm good there also with W10 64bit.
*Gets duster out*
Alright, updated the OP with the recent news of the official system requirements
Yep, it's about time.
My hardware is.. let's say "a bit older" than the minimum. So I have to pass.
http://www.overclock.net/t/502403/graphics-card-ranking
(I find that page really useful for deciphering all the million models of cards. Of course, there's going to be some variation between the different versions of each model. How it's OC'd, how it's cooled, etc.)
Hopefully Beth will remember to turn on SSE support this time in the compiler. Remember those SSE injecting mods?
I'm glad I got the GTX 970 and 16 gigs of RAM. The only problem would be my now ancient i7 2600k. Even though it's only a small difference between the recommended CPU and my i7 it will be the bottleneck.
I'm curios as what resolution these specs are made for, 1080p? I would assume at least. I have an old screen, well two of them. They can't handle more than 1050p, which if F4 can be run in lower res than 1080p, should mean a tiny difference in system requirements. Unless I'm forced to buy a new monitor. Yes I should invest in a new monitor...
Minimum specs are higher than I thought. That's a good thing. I fall in about the middle of the scale, as I assume most people would.
Ugh, now I'm really mad. They didn't put tell me a couple months earlier that my Radeon 6950 1GB won't cut it so now due to sharply rising dollar against my currency, I will pay a WHOLE Fallout 4 copy price more if I want to buy a decent GPU. Thanks Bethesda!
Duh, this puts me really in a bind.
