Unofficial "Will My PC run Fallout 4?" Thread #3

You think? A 750 TI isn't going to max it by any means but I think it'd play it ok if that CPU was upgraded.

Is there a good enough CPU I could put on my Giga-Byte GAx58A-UD3R Motherboard?

My PC Runs it as-is, I checked. What I'd like to know is, my % rating, as compared with recommended settings.

Relvent Specs:

RAM: 12.288GB (registers as 13GB on the "will my PC run it?" site)

System Memory: 1.8 TB free (seriously, I think I'm gonna be upgrading my PC a few more times before I use that up)

CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz

GPU: GeForce GTX 760

OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (build 9600), 64-bit

From the looks of it, I'm guessing I'm at Medium-to-high graphic settings range (which is good enough for me!)

Offhand without looking it up, I'm gonna say no. That's an older socket.

Yup. Should be in decent shape. I'd guess more medium than high settings, but you'll definitely run it ok.

Hi all, In your opinions will my PC run the game well enough compared to buying the Xbox One version?

CPU = AMD Athlon X4 860K

GPU = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

8 GB Ram

Win7 64 bit

Honestly think your CPU is fine. Older socket, so you may be hard pressed to find a new chip for it and I doubt it would be worth it...unless its second hand or something.

Probably medium settings

@ lokvit, Tigs probably knows more than I on older CPUs so I'd heed his advice.

Hey Tigs, this is just a request, but can you update the OP asking folks not to link to System Requirements Lab? You're no doubt aware of its faults.

I'll probably mention it in the guide Im making that will replace the OP at some point. And yes, I'm very aware of its faults...gets things far more wrong than right especially when it comes to rating CPUs.

Yeah now I'm debating what to get and whether or not I want to try to install it myself. Best I guess to just see how it plays and go from there. Little things like turning down or off shadows, AA, etc. can generally get me where I want to be.

Very easy to install a new one. Couple of screws, plug in the power and you are golden. Drivers are easy enough to update.

I updated from a 660 TI to a 970 when they came out last year mostly because I wanted a reason to dig around in the guts of my PC. Only took 15 minutes. Maybe another 10 to do the drivers.

Edit - I should also mention that the 970 uses less power than the 660 TI so you wouldn't have to worry about replacing your PSU if you go that route. But at this point, it might be wiser to see what Nvidia comes out with next rather than going to the 900 series.

That's great to know. I did upgrade the power when I bought the PC and added my card. Since then I've added two fans since the thing gets really hot. I 'guess' my card is a PCI express? Honestly not sure how to tell. I'll have to dig around and find the box.

If the 660 fits, any modern card will, as far as the slot. My 970 is much larger than the 660 TI physically though so if you do upgrade make sure it will fit in your case.

If heat is an issue add more fans if you can. You can get 120 mm fans pretty cheap. I got a set of 4 for $30 when I put in my 970 to supplement my cases 2 stock fans. It gets a little loud but I play on a 50" TV with surround sound, so I don't hear it over that. You can spend more for fans that are quiet though if that's an issue for you.

yea, everything is PCI-e now. question is, which one? 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, or 3.0. they're all backwards compatible, so if you buy a 3.0 card but have a 2.0 slot it will be fine. have heard that jumping too much, like a 3.0 card in a 1.0 slot, will not always work. but I'd guess a MB old enough or low end enough to only have a 1.0 slot probably isn't going to have a fast enough processor anyways.

Yes sure, the thing is he has already an i7.

And as it seems from the req, Fallout 4 counts more on a faster GPU as on a faster CPU.

But generally a faster CPU gives you more fps on the same GPU.

On the other side, there is a problem. !!! He uses a LGA1366 motherboard.

How smart would it be to upgrade the processor from a LGA1366 motherboard ???

Just look at those prices:

I've got:

Windows 10 64-bit

8GB RAM

Geforce GTX 660M

Intel i7-3610QM @ 2.30GHz

My goal is simply parity with the consoles: 1080p/30fps, with comparable graphics settings. Think I can accomplish that with this setup?

I'm quite happy with the anounced system specs, my CPU is the only thing not exceeding recommended specs. (i7-2600 @ 3.4Ghz) Glad I upgraded my RAM and GPU, now I don't have to "settle" for the PS4 version

I have a Q9550 and wondering as it's on par with the I5-2300, if it would work with F4? Everything else meets requirements...
