Unofficial "Will My PC run Fallout 4?" Thread #5

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:43 am

Your R9 M290X is at the level of a Radeon 7870 desktop card. You should bw top tier of medium settings, maybe even high depending on resolution.

(sry if this has been brought up before:)

i'm not worrying if my machine can run the game, got my self a fat new rig on that occasion (was about time to upgrade my old dual core anyway), so it certainly will.

but: i'm still running xp x64 on my (old) working machine, didn't like any win since and downright hate everything i've heard and seen of 10 so far.

so i got myself an in-case-copy of 8.1 with the new computer and plan on going dual boot x64/8.1

now, the games' specs say: "64 bit windows". which my old x64 is.

so: does this mean there's hope i can run fo4 on it and don't have to bother with 8 at all?

boy, would i be happy :-)

direct-x might become a problem though...

So I have a processor from 2012 Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz

And recommended is i7 4790 3.6 GHz.
Will this make me have to lower my settings a bit?

Other than that I'm much higher than the recommended requirements:

I have W10 64-bit
12 gb ram
1TB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 970
Just a bit worried that I won't be able to play on high settings because of my processor?

If you mean, that Fallout 4 could run on Win XP (64bit) probably not, according to the below:

http://help.bethesda.net/app/answers/detail/a_id/31171

< Operating system: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required) >

You should be fine but there's nothing wrong with taking it down a bit.

Jusy scroll left and right, and you can see how your GPU performs on those games listed there.

Green means fluently playable - Pink means it may stutter - and Red means your game will have poor performance thus unplayable.

The difference between your CPU and the CPU listed on the rec. req. is negligible.

So, i don't thing you should make any sacrifices on that matter. You're good to go...

<Affirmative>

The difference is 100 Mhz only, on both CPUs with Turbo mode enabled.

All other specs are the same...

Hey everyone, this is my specs:
Intel Core i5 2500K(stock 3,3ghz, should I overclock it?)
8GB RAM 1333
Radeon HD7750 1 GB(OC to 950/1250mhz)

It seems Fallout 4 with low settings is doable for my pc, am I right?

I would start at 1280x720 and tweak some settings also.

I really doubt FO4 is in DX9, so I don't think that xp64 will run it.

...but for the sake of SCIENCE! ...you can be the guinea pig.

Youd prodably be at low settings at 1080p. Take the resolution down as mentioned, and performance shohld be better.

Dont need to OC the 2500k, but it doesnt hurt to do so. This chip OCes very well...i have one at 4.5 GHz. Should easily do 4.0 GHz without much change in bios and even on stock cooler.

The can you run it site (and most sites similar) is heavily unreliable especially when it comes to CPUs. They are just comparing frequency numbers with no regards to architecture advancements. They get things wrong far too often.

I'm assuming you mean http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/. Correct? If so, that narrows it down to either a customized MSI or Clevo [Sager] bare bones. Do you remember the model? [link?]

...I'm just going this far to see what cooling you have and what's available as far as modded VBIOS to increase overclocking.

I believe I threw a post up in one of the previous topics, but I wasn't able to ask some questions before it hit the post limit and was locked, so I thought I would reiterate/recap and ask them here.
I have a MSI GT72 Dominator Pro G-1666 Laptop with GSYNC (http://us.msi.com/product/notebook/GT72-Dominator-Pro-G-GTX-980M.html#hero-specification):
CPU: Intel Core i7-5700HQ 2.7 GHz up to 3.5 GHz
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 980M 4GB
RAM: 16GB DDR3L @ 1600MHZ
OS: Windows 10 64 Bit
RES: 1920x1080
I was curious if I would be able to likely run the game reliably at high with 30+ FPS, ideally 50-60 FPS, with any 'needy' settings toned down or switched off (No hairworks or overly excessive AA / Ect), or if the specs would more likely land me in the zone of medium with my Laptop's specs and FPS considerations. The system itself cools very well, and handles turboboost for long periods without needing to really throttle back as far as I am aware in tests.

I'm sure you can easily get 50-60 fps, and with g-sync you'll barely notice any flucturations.

I do not know for ultra, but 1080p (high) and 60 fps should be a reality. !!!

New to the forum and hello. Here is what I have:

Processor: AMD FX 4350 quad core 4.2 ghz.

Card: Radeon 7870 2 gb

Memory: 8GB

Think I should be fine. Just looking at my card has me worried and I feel too cheap to pay another $150 or more for a new one.

Hello to you too !!! :icecream:

Try at 1680x1050 (medium settings) and it can be lower than that.

For what card we talking about, if you change your mind...

ooooooh....

now you write it out like this....

...i see where i went wrong: it 100% escaped my memory there even ARE 32bit versions of any of the listed systems (been YEARS since my last 32bit machine)

so i misread "64-bit os required" for "use any bloody 64bit win you can find, we don't care"...

darn...

just another horrible example of what wishful thinking can do to the human mind, so stay off the stuff, kids :-)

agreed about the dx, but still, i think i will.

gotta install x64 anyway (some old progs i need for work i couldn't even install on 7 already, doubt that'll get any better with 8), so i can just as well give it a shot...

(if the teso-beta is anything to go by though, i could install and start it, but it'd just hang around doing nothing then.

might have been due to the dual core just as well as the os though (or whatever other arcane circumstances)
