Unofficial "Will My PC run Fallout 4?" Thread #6

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:16 am

Well that's an hard question to answer, the Xbox one has different specs compared to your PC.

The xbox one has:
CPU - 8 Core AMD custom CPU, Frequency: 1.75 GHz
RAM - 8GB DDR3 Clock: 2133MHz Bandwidth
GPU - Couldn't find that much information on it just that it's a custom GPU which was launched bu AMD in November 2013

If I stack up your PC and the Xbox one, i would have to say they are very similiar to each other. Your GPU was released on 20th of march 2012 which makes it a year older than the xbox one gpu (but i know your current GPU is still a force to be reckoned with. Maybe get an other one so you can run it in a crossfire setup?)

Crossfire is definitely a possibility, but I don't know anything about the benefits of it. I also doubt that it's as simple as plugging in the second Graphics Card, attaching the bridge, and closing the case back up. I imagine that there would be settings and drivers to configure afterwards. Besides, if I'm having to upgrade my graphics card now, would a second copy of the same card buy me that much extra life for my graphics card before I would have to do an actual upgrade? Wouldn't it be simpler and cheaper to just upgrade one card instead of two?

i5-750 2.66 GHz

GTX 650 2GB

3 GB DDR3.

Will I be able to run it after I upgrade it to 8 GB RAM? (Processor is a main concern)

I felt certain I would be able to max fallout 4 but now I feel a bit uncertain since I'm going to play on a 25" monitor with 2560x1440 resolution.. How much would that effect my peformance?

Specs:

CPU - core i7-6700 4-core 3.4 GHz

GPU - Geforce GTX 970 gigabyte G1 gaming 4GB

RAM - 16 GB DDR4

Resolution - 2560x1440 (Dell U2151H 25")

OS - Win 10

How do you think this rig will peform on max setting on 2560x1440? Should I even be able to max it out and what do you think my approximate fps would be?

I'll be able to run a cross between max and high. This system was able to play Witcher 3 on Ultra with Nvidia's stupid hair FX turned off. It wasn't really a hit to graphical quality, hairFX looked awful.

CPU: FX8120 Standard Clock
GPU: HD7950 Standard Clock
Ram: 16gigs 1333mhz

Sir... you better be joking about your concern. It will run, but you don't really need 2560x1440. I'm not even sure if that resolution is supported, as it's not standard. Just run it in 1920x1080 as normal people do.

I should imagine 960m will get medium to high fairly easily. Those specs can run W3 on medium-high.

The xb1 has a video card pretty much similar to yours in performance. Your CPU is plenty decent. Id expect your PC to play the game just as well as XB1 version.

Ive never been a fan of dual cards in SLI or Crossfire unless the second card was free or at a massive discount. Have to deal with more heat, more power consumption leading to possibly needing a new power supply, and potential driver issues. On top of that, not all games scale the 2nd card well...can be anywhere between 0-95%.

If an upgrade is considered, get a new more powerful card and sell the 7850 or use it in another system. Its not worth crossfiring that. Be sure your power supply can handle the new video card upgrade as well.

What about it? Whats the rest of your specs? CPU? RAM? The GTX 650 is an old card now that would probably get you low settings depending on the rest of the missing specs.

Id expect low settings at 1080p, better if lower resolution.

The extra RAM is not gonna gain you fps or anything, but doesnt hurt to add...3GB is a bit low ro have nowadays. The CPU meets min as it is a bit better than the phenom X4 945 and the gtx 650 is a bit better than the 550 ti.

Max is a bit of a stretch at that resolution imo. Youd need a GTX 980 to comfortably do that. Youd probably get high settings though. What fps is anyones guess...just have to wait and see.

Of course the resolution will be supported. While not a standard "yet", there are several monitors with that resolution nowadays and there are many game benchmarks that show results for this resolution.

If thats the native resolution of his monitor, then its desirable to run it at that. Image quality is sacrificed if the resolution in non-native.

Your CPU is a low voltage dual core processor, a bit below minimum spec: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html?type=&sort=&deskornote=2&restrict_architecture=&maxTDP=&or=0&search=&month=&benchmark_values=&gpubenchmarks=0&archive=0&dx=&itemselect_6772=6772&itemselect_1592=1592&itemselect_6217=6217&condensed=0&condensed=0&showCount=1&showBars=1&showPercent=1&3dmark06cpu=1&cinebench10_s=1&cinebench10_m=1&cb11_single=1&cb11=1&cinebench_r15_single=1&cinebench_r15_multi=1&superpi1m=1&superpi2m=1&superpi32m=1&wprime_32=1&wprime_1024=1&dhrystone=1&whetstone=1&winrar=1&x264_pass1=1&x264_pass2=1&truecrypt_aes=1&truecrypt_twofish=1&truecrypt_serpent=1&geekbench2=1&geekbench3_single=1&geekbench3_multi=1&passmark_cpu=1&sunspider=1&cpu_fullname=1&codename=1&series=1&l2cache=1&l3cache=1&fsb=1&tdp=1&mhz=1&turbo_mhz=1&cores=1&threads=1&technology=1&architecture=1&64bit=1&daysold=1

960M is a little faster than desktop 550 Ti, though http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphics-Cards.13849.0.html?type=&sort=&deskornote=2&or=0&search=&month=&benchmark_values=&gpubenchmarks=0&professional=0&archive=0&dx=0&multiplegpus=0&showClassDescription=1&itemselect_5062=5062&itemselect_3271=3271&itemselect_6157=6157&itemselect_2593=2593&condensed=0&showCount=1&showBars=1&showPercent=1&gameselect%5B%5D=336&gameselect%5B%5D=332&gameselect%5B%5D=329&gameselect%5B%5D=316&gameselect%5B%5D=314&gameselect%5B%5D=112&gpu_fullname=1&codename=1&architecture=1&pixelshaders=1&vertexshaders=1&corespeed=1&shaderspeed=1&boostspeed=1&memoryspeed=1&memorybus=1&memorytype=1&directx=1&opengl=1&technology=1&daysold=0

^ Ye, Dont want to play at 1080p if it'll cause stretching or any other weirdness with my 1440 monitor. A bit of a bummer not being able to max it out because of the monitor resolution but oh well. I haven't played much with 1440 since the monitor and rig is new but so far I've been able to play games like gta v on highest setting and 2560x1440 and haven't notice any fps problems.. So thought fallout 4 would be less demanding. I'll just have to wait and see... I get that 4k is very demanding but didn't quite know that 2560x1440 was before I bought the monitor, probably should have bought a 1080p so my rig would last longer..

Hey guys, I bought this computer last year primarily for Dragon Age Inquistion but I knew Fallout 4 was on the horizon but I did not think it would be out this year so with that in mind, I would like to know from the community what you think of with my specs and how will it run.

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Currently not OCed)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

ASUS Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws XSeries 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5 " Solid State Drive

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Internal Hard Drive

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card (Yes I know about the 3.5 screw up from Nvidia, bearing that in mind for FO4).

EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Microsoft Windows 8.1

I was able to play DAI on max settings on this rig last year, and when I built it I wanted to not upgrade for at least 2 years. So will this PC run FO4 on Ultra Settings or at the very least High settings? Just want to get an idea from you pros on what to expect next week when I start installing.

Also my PC repair man that does all my work doesn't know much about gaming on computers but can pretty much do everything else. He recommends me to wait till the fall release for an update on Windows 10 and then upgrade. My question is should I even upgrade to Windows 10 since its still free and if so is he right about waiting for the update?

Thanks for any help guys!

You can max it out.

As for Win10, works great for me. Haven't had a single issue besides a little driver problem when first installing it. Easily fixed, my own fault.

I think I really need a new pc for Fallout 4.

This is my pc now:

i5 650 @ 3.2 GHz

4 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

OS: Windows 7 32 bit

This is the system I think about buying:

i5 6600K 4x 3.5 GHz

8 GB DDR4-RAM PC-2133

GeForce GTX 960 4096MB

OS Windows 10 64 bit

What do you think about my current / planned system?

Current system, definitely needs an upgrade. Processor in the triple digits, lol.

Planned system, probably med-high. 970 would be a better gpu obviously, but a wee more expensive.

You should be fine for ultra. Whether its 60fps, just gotta wait and see.

Ultra settings at 1080p. Id wait on win10 as its still being worked out with its issues. Win 8.1 is fine for the game.

Your system is probably in the realms of medium settings.

The PC youre considering can do high settings lilely.

I'm no software engineer, but I game on Windows 10 with no problems. In fact, I recently played through Fallout 3 and a heavily modded Skyrim without any issues. That being said, if you have Windows 7 or 8.1 there isn't much reason to change since Fallout 4 isn't going to use DX12.
