I built my first pc back in August in anticipation for Fallout. I spent around 1k in the end. I went for an i5 4690k at the time, I know recommended is an i7 but I think I'll be just fine.

I went for an MSI GTX 980. I got a bargain on 16Gb of Hyperx ram. Hyperx 240Gb sad. 1Tb WD hdd. Corsair Rm 750w Psu.

Coming from console gaming, the performance of the pc is mind-blowing to say the least. I know to a lot of veteran pc gamers my pc won't be breath taking, but again, coming from console gaming it's a massive jump.

I have it hooked up to a 55" Sony BRAVIA in the living room..... Love it.

$299 is a good price for a GPU right now. You can get a solid GTX 970 for less. 980's for the price point is not worth the money. Don't even get me started on Titans.

i can play witcher 3 got FPS around 45 - 55 in big city with more npc at 1080p
and GTA V got FPS around 50 - 65 at 1080p
this two need more power from cpu i guess (all gameworks on)

but

for MGSV: TPP i can play at 2715x1527 all ultra setting stable at 60 lag spike some time
and mad max at 2715x1527 all ultra at 70 - 135 fps (all gameworks on)

my CPU is strong enough to get more than 60fps in fallout 4?

Actually the graphics are about identical to PC Ultra and the 30 fps is no issue as long as it's stable which it has been.......perfectly stable fps is just great even at 24 fps as demonstrated by every movie ever. This console generation has been about perfect with fps stability so far.

unless your into some real heavy video editing your never going to come close to using 32 gigs of memory. and in that case, your probably going to want a 6th gen i7 or unlocked 4th gen too

Movies and computer games are very different, try to play a game at 24fps and you'll tear your hair out.

"About identical" is speculation, all Bethesda games since Morrowind was very noticeably better on the PC on maxed settings. We'll see how it goes but official console trailers look poorer compared to official PC screenshots.

The difference between 30fps and 60fps is huge. When you are use to playing at 30fps it's not a big deal, I know because that was me earlier this year. When you get used to 60fps it's horrible going back to 30fps.

And you can guarantee, the graphics will be noticeably better on pc.

I always used to say the difference between pc and consoles isn't big, when you actually experience it for yourself though, the difference is huge.

Like I said....there's Witcher 3 gameplay footage showing you perfect equality with PC Ultra. As for fps.....it's not different in gaming....not when it's stable.....the only difference is that games can sometimes dip and it is the drop that is noticeable and jarring. But I haven't had any fps related wtf moments with PS4. I also have a gaming PC that mostly collects dust that could run Fallout 4 so I know what 100+ fps looks like.....I've jumped between games with 100+ fps and 30 and the difference is not visible as long as the 30 is stable and it has been. At any rate.....from gameplay footage so far Fallout 4 is A-OK with fps on consoles.

The consoles today get 60 fps in quite a lot of games.....and I have a PC that does 100+ fps.....I've gone back and forth between all three types and there is no difference as long as the 30 is smooth and stable......if you jump to any game with fps drops then it becomes visible but there is nothing grand about 60 fps or a million fps that becomes so obvious that you can't go back. Nearly all console gamers this generation have experienced 60 fps in some of their games and nobody is making a big deal out of it on that side.

Your not going to make use of 32 G Ram. 12 G Ram should be more than enough head room geez no more than that.

Get an I-7 really. Maybe get an I-7 2600, I hear they are still considered to be quite a champ these days still.

Get a better PSU, don't scrimp on money here. PSU under a 100 bucks >< wanna burn up your stuffs?

Plan for a Dedicated PhysX Graphics Card, which means your gonna need a good Mobo and good PSU.

GTX 970 and GTX 660 (want a 2G VRAM card for your dedicated PhysX card) your going to spend about $400 plus getting this to happen, worth it.

Why, cause GameWorks baby, with those two cards your pushing 60 FPS constant. Or perhaps actually purchase a GTX 780 maybe a pair for SLI plus a GTX 660 for dedicated PhysX really cause it'll be the dedicated card allowing for the eyecandy without slowdowns. Has something to do with taking the load off the G cards and the CPU which is where that info gets processed when there is too much PhysX going on in the game environment. This might matter even more with additional stuff from modifications.

Either way that PSU you picked is about the min for the amount of power that I would want and really its fairly important for a name brand PSU here.

DONT overlook what I said though, You want Nvidia Graphics Cards and you want 2 of them!

For some reason there some people who are not sensitive to tell the difference between 30 to 60,they see them as equals.

In my case I can really tell the difference and not only that I get headache's when I see games at 30fps then 60 fps.

I can notice very poor and blotchy shadows in the PS4 version and people have been commenting saying the draw distance is lacking on the PS4 (Which means more pop in and/or poorly rendered objects at a distance). As for the FPS? I tried playing Assassin's Creed 3 on an Xbox 360 at 30 FPS and my input felt super delayed AND it made me sick to even look at. Movies can get away with being at 24 FPS due to things like motion blur and the lack of a user input. However, when you start dialing back a video game's FPS where your input isn't quickly displayed onto the screen when you're used to it being faster? It's a hard switch.

You can play your game on the PS4 all you want and I won't judge you at all. This thread is just about a guy wanting to build a PC as that's what they want because they feel like that would be the best experience for them. There's no need to be a really devoted fan in here as it's the OPs preference, just like you playing on a console is.

However! To OP:

The rig you linked will smash the [censored] out of this game without issue. Hell, even a $1,000-$1,250 dollar PC I could arrange would beat this game's max requirements to a pulp.

But I do have some tips and some things I feel I should bring up:

• The 980 as stated above is in a weird price point right now. It's not really that much better than a 970 but comes at a higher disproportionate price when compared to the GPU performance. I would suggest downsizing to a 970 (Or get the AMD equivalent of a 390) and saving a few dollars (About ~$160 at least, which is more than a few). While you might not have a 980 now, you'll be upgrading them at around the same time when you're looking for another GPU if the 970 starts to not be up to your standards.
• The PSU is an important pick and don't skimp out on it, especially when you have a budget like this. I'd suggest picking up the 750W EVGA G2 (With it's 10 year EVGA warranty, the best ever), anything from SeaSonic (CoolerMaster V Series, higher end XFX stuff), or some of the top end Corsair stuff (HX, AX lines). These PSUs are the best of the best and will ensure longevity of components with little to no ripple and will never blow up on you (Unless you do something like intentionally short it).
• The i7 4790 comes with a solid stock cooler if you're not going to overclock. However, go with the 4790K if you also have a Z97 motherboard. It will enable yourself to overclock the chip in the future by throwing a heatsink on it down the road.

Aside from that, the SSD is quite overkill, but perhaps that's good in your case.

@OP - At $2000, that rig should be able to transform and play the game along side you. In all seriousness, $800 is likely a strict budget rig, while rigs in the $1000 to $1200 should be able to max out FO4 if you can score some deals. Above that and you'll basically be futureproofing the rig - which isn't bad.

Slight note/possible disagreement - if you shop around, you can usually get a great PSU for under $100 (even less after rebate). Tigerdirect was selling an excellent modular 750w 80+ gold PSU for just $50 a while back. Granted, those PSUs are usually more than $100 at regular price, so maybe that's what you meant.
