Unofficial "Will My PC run Fallout 4?" Thread #2

If you add an HDD an SSD and a DVD-RW drive your overall system wattage comes near to 530. !!!

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/v7gZYJ

Judging from the cooling options you chose, you may wanna overclock your system.

My suggestion: go for a 750Watt Power supply.

Also you may reconsider for the i5-4460 instead for the FX 8350 !!!

Judging from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFqQdrs5wEU

Also whille the i5's are really performance processors, you have a more balanced system with your beastly R9 390 8GB GPU !!! (it costs almost the same)

(...to be true with that GPU, the most common would be an i7)

Example of a system: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/T9QwsY

Anyone know if I would be able to run this at atleast 40 fps on low? I have 8gb ram, a 5750 1gb, and a 3.4ghz quad core intel i7 2600.

Im just wondering because I can run Battlefront on low at about 30 fps but at first it was saying my card didn't have enough vram to run it.

#Mycardisholdingmeback ):

forgot to mention, I have a 1080p monitor. I was running battlefront in 1080p borderless window

I'm going to ask a really stupid question, but I have to ask because I just don't know. I have windows 8.1. How do I find my system specs, and how do I copy the information and paste it here in the forums? I know how to copy from a forum post but not something on my desktop screen. And I cannot find that damn clipboard. :banghead:

I tried to figure it out and I'm stuck. Could someone please give me simple step by step instructions on how to find my system specs and post them here?

Go into control panel and into "system" for your base specs and into device manager under "video adapter" for your video cards.

I know I can run the game. My question is..What should I upgrade first? I want to be able to run this at Ultra (eventually). Both my CPU and GPU appear to be getting towards the "upgrade time". I know it won't be long before mods become available, and I tend to mod pretty heavily. Any build suggestions are appreciated. I don't play any games other than TES and Fallout. so I'm looking for best builds for these games. Thanks in advance.

My specs:

i5-3570

Radeon HD 7900

8 GB Ram

MB: Asrock 777 Extreme 4 ( can it handle a large upgrade?)

Aslong as the R9 that im finding is 4GB, Then its safe to say you'll be able to run on high settings.

Yes it's 4GB..
When you say high setting does that include a heavily modded game too?

Id imagine high settings with that at 1080p. As for modded, nothing out yet to even make a fair assumption

You want at least the recommended specs if running 4k.

CPU is more than fine. Should get up there in at least high range or more.

Mentioning other games is kind of pointless right now. Different game different engine. 1GB 5750 is the weak spot. According to min reqs, you barely meet it and thats comparing it to the 550ti, which is somewhat in the same league..so id expect low settings if these reqs holds true.

Low settings if min reqs hold true. You are just meeting them.

CPU is fine. New gpu perhaps. Id expect medium as is right now.

Really impressed by the 980 TI so far. Will probably pick one up after the current credit card billing cycle so I don't have to pay it off until end of November.

Could someone tell me how well I'll be able to run the game, my specs are:

GPU: GeForce GTX 760 (192 bit)

CPU: Intel? Core? i7-4770 CPU @ 340 GHz

Memory: 8.00 GB RAM (7.91 usable)

OS: Windows 8.1

And my resolution is 1366 x 766

That all depends on the mods, if you have a bunch of mods that changes lighting/shadows/re-textures and such it can be taxing. Lighting and shadows are probably the main reason the requirements are so high to begin with.

With mods, you can break any game with any hardware. Its a matter of, how many & what kind of mods do you want -vs- what frame rate do you want? Sometimes if you absolutely have to have 50 different mods you can just turn down render distance or certain atmospheric renderings. Sorry if that wasn't much help, but there's just too many variables to be able to say whether or not your definition of a heavily modded game could run on high. Maybe yes? lol

I would expect somewhere between Medium and High. CPU is fine, and GPU is a little below recommended, but then you're also running at a slightly lower resolution, so that will help.

You're just under the recommended so idd expect high to medium ranges.

Why is your resolution so low? Is that a laptop? If so, is your GPU a GTX 760 or a GTX 760M? There is a huge difference.

And just what's so "aging" about that -.- (with the exception of the graphics card that system should run everything on ultra (and it still blows those crappy "next-gen" consoles out of the water (they are not next gen...more like old gen, if you look at the raw specs!)...I know, I have a similar system (same CPU, 16 GB Ram, no SSD (don't like the things at all...don't like that they are made to break...you can't use them without slowly ruining them!) and a slightly worse graphics card - a Gainward GTX 770) and I can run most modern games at ultra (the only ones not working so far were "The Witcher 3" (though I only had to switch off Nvidia Hairworks!) and "Assassin's Creed: Unity" (though that one's buggy as hell, too and they didn't really bother fixing it!))

Sure, I'd love a new system as well, but I'll wait a few more months (till the new stuff gets released next year - no, not because I want to buy older components, but because I expect the new stuff to be way better than what's currently out and less pricy (hardware is really expensive ATM...had to replace two harddrives recently (they broke down -.-) and the new ones were quite expensive (couldn't get similar ones for an acceptable price so I sprung for some others, too!))

greetings LAX

ps: I think my system will run Fallout decently enough, after all it handled everything I was throwing at it in the last few years (which is quite good for a system I cobbled together from some new components and some left over stuff from the previous computer!), still I'll probably put some cash aside (like what I just received for my birthday) in order to get some new stuff soon (I'll build it myself again...I don't like to buy computers that are already assembled (did so once and was not satisfied at all and I did switch out the graphics card directly when purchasing the system -.-))

I made this account so I could ask this question...

Windows 7

Intel Core i5-3570 @ 3.40GHz

16 GB RAM

GTX 690

And plenty of HDD space

The thing that worries me the most is the processor after reading up on some on Intel's latest i7's that should hopefully be the easiest and cheapest thing to fix.

The graphics card also slightly worries me, after looking at the "Relative GPU Performance" on the Nvidia website

The GTX 690 is approximately 20% better, going off the information on the Nvidia website. But I'm concerned that it may not be good enough to run Fallout 4 on max.

Thoughts from any PC buffs out there?

The GTX 690 can hold its own against a GTX 780, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could achieve Ultra settings at 1080p

The CPU should be plenty sufficient...I find the requirement for an i7 total BS. Even the Witcher 3 touted a similar recommended CPU and there wasn't that much benefit and plenty are using Core i5's to play the game. Some even played with a Core i3 chip...not the greatest settings, but it ran. I'd expect the same scenario here.
