Unofficial "Will My PC run Fallout 4?" Thread #2

Probably at least high...maybe even ultra at 1080p. The 270X would be a pretty significant downgrade.

A GTX 970 exceeds the recommended GTX 780 by a small margin.

Hoping for ultra with my 970. But I'll take high. Either way I'm sticking with the 970 for now. When the new gen comes out I may try to get a second one cheap for SLI if it makes a difference. My 660 TI ran skyrim with plenty of mods just fine, and comparatively speaking time wise, the 970 is stronger.

@Assasinjoke> You're just under the recommended so idd expect high to medium ranges. <

The CPU may be, but not the GPU.

Recommened is the GTX 780. !!!

There is a huge difference between those two GPUs: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1038?vs=1036

Actually you are 35% below the recommended settings.

However, on 1366x768 with that CPU, you should be able to play it at HIGH, for sure...

1366x768 is not a native "gaming" resolution, so your duo (CPU-GPU) will handle that resolution easily.

Do be ownest we should see what Advanced Launcher Options Fallout 4 has to offer.

(Detail levels, Water Effects, Shadows, View Distances, LOD Distances, and so on....)

Well, skyrim is an older game. Of course a GTX 970 can handle Skyrim easily (modded or not)

SLI configurations should play a big role on newer games. For example, SLI configurations scales very well on The Witcher 3 engine.

So, SLI configurations seems to be usuful on newer games (more complex engines), there is no doubt about it.

I can't really imagine what will happen on games that comes after 5 years, for example. :goodjob:

Guess I'll have to replace my video card. I prefer to have the hardware on the recommended settings. My R9 270X doesn't cut it since I like to play with the graphics to the max.

You could may play it at the max (on a lower resolution). What's about that ???

Just wait for the first official (or not) benchmarks. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?s=03030e706a3374c1a7cbc1a9c3197dc3&&app=forums&module=extras§ion=legends#

The R9 270X is between a GTX 660 and a GTX 670

if any of the more tech savy members would mind helping, getting ready to pull the trigger on a geforce gtx 750 Ti 2 gb. will that run the game, and how well? I know it's more of a budget card, and I don't expect to play on max. but I also don't want to drop a pile of dough on a card for 1 game.

So, I've got 8G of RAM, I have GTX 670 graphics card, which is over the minimum, at least... but I've got an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, E8600 @ 3.33GHz

Can anyone tell me how screwed I am? Will I be able to run the game on low settings, or will I be crying myself to sleep on November 10th while spooning a Pip Boy Edition I can't use?

Now this is a tough question. The E8600 was no slouch in its hey day, but its a fast dual core chip with no hyperthreading today. According to min specs, you're under. I personally feel it will still run...i just have no idea right now how well and if a quad core truly is needed for instructions.

This is what I was afraid of.... 30 more days of waiting until I find out if I'll be able to play! Haha. Thanks for the help, though

Hello, so I have all the requirements to run it except maybe the video card. I have dual GeForce GTX 560 1gb dedicated memory and the requirement is 2gb memory, but since I have dual ones in total it would be 2gb, I'm just wondering if that would work or not? thanks

lol. What you mean at least ???

You really don't believe that GPU will run Fallout 4 at 1920x1080 and high settings. !!!

Makes the R9 290X obsolete then.

Fortunately, memory bandwidth doubles with a dual GPU. Unfortunately memory frame buffer does not. !!!

So you will have 1 GB of total memory.

As you will have the power, your low frame buffer should lower your overall gaming performance.

You can fix that either through lowering your resolution, or your games details.

Also lowering or even disabling AA and lowering shadows details would be beneficial, in that case.

How future proff would that card be? Don't expect it to last forever, but also don't want to get something that is obsolete practically out of the box

My specifications;

FX-6300 3.5GHz 6 cores
EVGA GTX 960 SSC 4GB
8GB ram kit
Windows 7/10 (not sure if I want to upgrade yet)
500w EVGA PSU
1TB WD Caviar Blue

Anyone think this will do fine for sub-1080p performance on medium or higher?

But I've been saving my money for a different toy...a toy that'll outlast my children. :gun:

oh wait, I don't have any children. :sadvaultboy:

I guess my new toy will have to wait a while longer. Got to have a rig that can handle the massive amount of mods I'll be installing for the game.

Fortunately, I think I can recycle most everything I have, but the cpu and mobo should probably get replaced, since I put my current pc together just prior to Skyrim's release.

Well then, I guess I should be thankful for my sub-par monitor then, lol(if I recall, a while ago when I mentioned what resolution I played at to someone else they said my "PC was crying" or something to that affect from how bad it was). That aside, high settings sound good to me. Thanks for the info, you two.

On a side note, does that mean I should be looking for a new GPU in the next year or two? I got this PC something like two years ago(I was told that it should last me the next couple years without needing an upgrade by someone) and it had been doing great for any game that came out. People were actually surprised when I asked how well I could run, I think it was, Dragon Age Inquisition prior to release.

With a i72600 and 8 gigs of memory the gpu upgrade is all I need. I just hate trying to sort through all the cards out there. Also don need some uber card, just something that will run the game decently and not need replaced for a little while
