Unofficial "Will My PC Run Skyrim" Discussion

Post » Tue Aug 30, 2011 4:35 am

I don't think the 6150SE could even run Oblivion, maybe barely but it certainly won't run Skyrim sorry.

It actualy ran it very well, just not maxed it. :sadvaultboy:
Now it's official... I will buy a new computer! Anyone here knows a good and cheap system to run Skyrim at least in Medium Settings?

Obs: Thank you for the help

Hmm, something isn't adding up, what resolution were you playing at and are you sure you have a 6150SE?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112324 case may be expensive, but its lian li, what do you expect theyre made to last for a decade+. also its just a very big, well air-flowed case.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157269 mobo im more worried in about simply because i want to know if its worth it for the pcie spacing and timings. also, ivybridge. yum.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226226 ssd, two of them. lightening fast.

i also want to get two of the hydro copper gtx590's....but maybe should wait it out for keppler....

The GT220 is a re branded 9500GT, I wouldn't hope for more than low-medium settings at lower to maybe moderate resolution. If you tell us your power supply we could recommend a fairly cheap upgrade that would help greatly.

Stop the fighting <_<

Either contribute to the topic or leave...

@Silver: Your PC will run Skyrim, but IMHO I would say a Medium-High.

ok so what do you think then? ((:

Well you can open the case it will most likely be in the top left corner, or if you know the brand/model number of the PC we could probably find out with a quick Google search.

Snip

How about getting one 80GB SSD to install games on and getting a 1TB HDD. Get a sensible case that's about $100.
Just get one HD6990 4GB (I think that's the one). Sorry but spending nearly $1000 on two SSD's is very overkill...

Thoughts on my new PC?

Ordered tuesday, should be getting it early this week. It's a budget PC. I never spend more than 600 on a computer nowadays.

AMD Athlon II X3 455 Rana 3.3GHz Processor (Plan to unlock 4th core since my MB has Unlock feature, but no guarantee it will work)
ASUS M4N68T-M V2 Motherboard
4GB KINGSTON DDR3 1333 2x2GB Memory
Sapphire Radeon HD6850 1GB GDDR5
Seagate 500GB SATA 3GB 7200RPM,16MB Cache
LG 24x24 DVD-RW Dual Layer
Cooler Master Elite 370 Case
Seasonic 600W SS-600ET PSU

566$ total (shipping included)

My current pc was purchased right around the time Oblivion came out, so yeah it's pretty old. I was going to wait for the official Skyrim sys specs to be released but I really want to play Witcher 2 (especially the 2.0version coming out Sept 29th) , and Deus EX HR. I figure those are 2 solid games that will hold me off nicely till Sky comes out.

Looks like a great budget build, I'd expect it too easily max out Skyrim.

Very Sure.
Always the highest resolution, just if it got extremely laggy (After a few mods for example, like Open Cities) I would put the second highest resolution.

I plan getting the most recent card with 1GB but it needs to be for PCI Express X16 slot or something like that or so the man at PC World said and a 500W power supply.

I'll have to get my Brother in Law to open the case but it won't be till next weekend.

If you can spare the coin, sure why not. Though your questions aren't really about it being able to play Skyrim anymore, but just about building a great PC. So I think you can best continue this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1224422-the-community-tech-thread-no-104/. :)

Well it really depends on the card, more powerful card=more powerful power supply needed. Also almost any computer in the past 5 years has a PCI Express x 16 slot, its what the standard GPU's use now days. Another side note, Vram on the card like 1GB doesn't mean to much. You could have a really crappy 1GB video card. Anyway, let us know next week and we will make you a good recommendation.

The announcement of Skyrim requirements, especially the Recommended Level, which we are most interested in lately, won't be "late" if they are no more than three weeks prior to the final release date, and probably should not be looked for any sooner than about six weeks prior, so it's still too soon to get anxious.

I always hate these kinds of threads because everyone has a different opinion, but what would be a great budget video card and processor? Apparently the i5 25k would be the way to go, but should I go into the 500 series for NVIDIA cards? Is 560 considered high or medim-end? Would it be worth the 570?

I'd really like a total budget of around $750 max, cheaper if possible. I don't want to spend any more than that.

I ran vanilla Oblivion at something like 30fps with a 9800gt, but the processor was terrible, I think, because it couldn't handle too many mods.

Hmm, I would definitely try to get the 2500k, as for the GPU a 560 Ti or a ATI 6870 will easily max out Skyrim.
