Would this be worth running Skyrim on over an X360? I want to have something on PC to play while I have a movie in the background.

Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 @2.66Ghz
CPU Speed 2.7 Ghz
Ram - 4.1 GB
OS - Windows 7
Video Card - ATI Radeon HD 3670

As the author of the list, perhaps I'm late in responding to your question, but yes...it is in sequential order. The Radeon 6990 is the slightly more powerful card than the 7970 considering its a dual GPU card. However, it's very close and the 7970 has far better value.

FYI I've actually updated the list

The GT 240 isn't a great card nowadays, but should get you medium settings

With the 8400GS, lowest of settings. The GTX 550 TI is an improvement to high settings, but your power supply probably has to be replaced. You have an older Inspiron 530 that probably used a 300 or 305W PSU...it's a decent unit, but the CPU you have is telling of this system's age. I wouldn't run a 550 Ti with your PSU now.

Your video card puts you a bit lower than X360 specs and the 512MB VRAM is barely cutting it especially if you intend to mod. Some settings will certanily have to be turn down, but it's certainly playable around low-medium levels.

I have an i7 8GB hp laptop with the default integrated graphics solution. 2 quick questions -
  • Is this sufficient to run skyrim at an acceptable quality?
  • If not, can I do anything with this particular machine to allow it to run skyrim? I spent a lot of money on this and can't afford to build a specific gaming rig but would love to get skyrim for pc.
Any advice very appreciated, many thanks.

Depends on the model of the i7.
Second bullet, not with a laptop.

Hello all!

I gave it a quick glance and didn't see my setup on here and I'm wanting to buy Skyrim on the PC but am not sure if it will run so I'm coming to you wonderful people to find out.

OS: Windows 8 64 bit
Video: Radeon HD 7660G (512 MB) up to 4GB virtual video ram?
CPU: AMD A10-4600M (4 CPUs @ 2.3Ghz)
Ram: 8GB

misc that I'm unsure of importance

DirectX 11

Hopefully someone will get back to me soon. I apologize in advance if someone with the same specs has previously came and gotten help. Thanks in advance.

To Update: I went and bought Skyrim. It defaulted to high settings. I turned off AA and anisotropic filtering (I dont need them) and I get about 35-40 fps most times.

That CPU was already obsolete when it was brand new. The game specifies a modern dual core CPU or better, either an X2 from AMD or a C2D from Intel.

Skyrim Minimum Requirements

* Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
* Processor: Dual Core 2.3 GHz C2D or equivalent CPU
* 3GB System RAM
* 6GB free HDD Space
* Direct X 9 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM (and
sufficient performance to actually put that VRAM to use)

* DirectX compatible sound card
* Internet access for Steam activation

I remember a Geforce 9500 "GT" card that was a renamed 8600 GT with improved cooling fan control firmware in it.

I have no recollection of any desktop model Geforce 9500 "GS", although there was a 9500 M laptop card that was a GS

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=598&card2=574

IMO, Skyrim will not be at all satisfactory running on such antique hardware.

- 8GB Ram
- 500GB Hard drive
- i5 processor
- DvD Burner
- Windows 7 (64 bit)

Thanks.

How well will this laptop run Skyrim. I know its cheap and low end but it will do if it can run Sky fine. I do not want an expensive gaming laptop.

I want a laptop I can carry and play Skyrim on when I visit other places. The graphics setting does not need to be ultra.

You shouldn't have any problems with running medium to high at full hd. What i5 are you getting as it does make a difference. And on the gpu I would personnaly spend a bit more and get a 660 or 660 ti but it does depend how much other gaming you'll do and what games you'll play. Also consider a SSD for your OS.
Have you tried lowering the resolution?
That's a integrated gpu which isn't desgined for gaming but you may be able to run it at a playable rate on low settings with a low resolution.

I'm most likely getting a new PC soon (prebuilt) and I've had my eyes on one and am curious how it would play Skyrim and what kind of fps I would be getting.

Here are the specs:
Name: CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA420
Processor type: AMD FX-8150
Processor speed: 3.6ghz
RAM: 16GB
Hard drive capacity: 1 TB
Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD7850
Video memory: 2 GB
Windows 8 64 bit
(am I missing any specs?)

So could someone tell me how good this computer would be for Skyrim? Thanks!

EDIT: checked the list on this thread and the graphic card is in the "Egad!" category so that's a good sign.

That is a more powerful GPU but is still integrated so wont handle games aswell as a dedicated chip but it is more powerful than the last config you posted, I wouldn't expect it to run skyrim at any higher than medium settings, again depends on resolution. If you could spend a bit more and get a dedicated gpu, your gaming experience will be a lot more enjoyable, what is your max budget? And what country are you from? as this will help people find you the best laptop for your money.

You shouldn't have any problems running on high-ultra with 50+fps in most places depending on your resolution of course. The amd fx cpu's aren't as good as intel for gaming but it should do you fine. I actually have a 7850 and its a great card, can run most games on high-ultra with good fps. You can see here http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/fx-8350-vishera-review,review-32550-15.html how the fx 8150 performs and compares to intel chips.

Alright thanks, just ordered it so it's on its way. If I run into problems with the FX-8150 I can always just upgrade.

I'm not sure but I will probably get an Intel core i5-3470 3.2GHz. And yeah I've read that it would be better to get the 660 so I'm most likely going to get that, also I'll look into the SSD, Thanks.

Edit: I ended up getting this.

- 8GB Ram
- i5-3470 3.2 GHz
- GTX 660 2G
- 500GB hard drive
- Windows 7 (64-bit)

I didn't get the SSD because it was $100+ and I didn't have that money, anyway how well would it run Skyrim now? hoping to run it on high-ultra. Thanks.

If your running at 1080p you shouldn't have any problems running at high-ultra but bear in mind a lot of graphical mods will start slowing your game down, but that's true no matter how powerful your system is.
Powerful cpu but a pretty low end gpu? A pretty unbalanced build, you'd be better off getting a a i5 which is all you need for gaming anyway and spend more on the gpu, get like a 660 ti or amd equivalent.

Anyway to answer your question, the 640 will bottleneck the 3770 so not particularly great. The 640 isn't a gaming card, I wouldn't go any lower than a 650 ti.

Good evening,
I'm going to be building my first computer to replace a 6 year old e machine. I'm hoping this is a good build. I would like opinions and would like to know if its all going to be compatible. It won't be top of the line stuff but I feel confident I should be able to run skyrim (maybe a few mods) a a decent enough frame rate to make me not want to play skyrim on my Xbox. I hope this is enough info.
I picked the 660 because it has a lifetime warranty
I picked the CPU because the motherboard requires CPU video to use its on board chips. I have this for backup if the video card fails.
Average latency ram. Hope it's good enough.
Psu is 650 watts. Should be plenty. Modular to cut down on cable bundle.
Extra USB card cause I have ipad 2 iPod 1 iPhone and 2 external drives I use as data backup, etc.
Extra fans for case.
Budget build under a grand.

Let me know what ya,all think before I press the buy key.
Thanks all
