I'm level 13.

I've got a level 10 mace which i can not equip.

My mace proficiency is at max for what level i am 65 mace.

So my question is is there a way to tell what proficiency the weapon is so i know what i should get it to.

Cant see it on weapon info.

If you have the proficiency, you can equip the weapon as as you're high enough level. Proficiency only means how likely you are to hit mobs with that weapon type. Also of note, Swords, maces, and axes have a 1 hand and 2 hand proficiency that are separate.

It depends. Talk to any of the guards around the capital city you are in, and ask them about weapon trainers. They should tell you where to go to get specific proficiencies.

Alliance or Horde?

If you're Horde, Thunder Bluff.

Alliance, Stormwind.

If you're alliance the weapon master in Stormwind can teach you, if you're Hprde you'll need to go to Thunder Bluff. There's a new Zeppeling outside Orgrimmar to make that trip easier.

EDIT: Woops, fixed it.

Starting player questions (started last weekend):

1st. A hunter can never use a one-handed sword, shield or other armour than leather/cloth? I lugged around for hours and hours with mail armour, some shield and a crude bastard sword only to realise my hunter toon will never be able to use a shield, mail armour or the crude bastard sword is he?

2nd. When will you get a permanent pet/companion?

Hunters can use most weapons except maces, you will need to learn skills at weapon masters in different cities for your faction. You can wear mail armor at level 40, shields are not available to hunters, two handed swords and axes on the other hand are. I recommend dual wielding weapons though, not for melee combat but for the extra stats they'll give you.

You'll get your permanent pet at level 10 after a quest from the hunter trainer in the area you started. So if you're a night elf you need to do it in the night elf zone, same for all other races.

Hope that helped.

Yes, that helped. Level40? Holy crap. HGood thing I sold off all that junk then.
I finished the first quest with taming rod thing but the taming rod only works for 15 minutes. You get to choose the animal as your pet/companion?

Any animal can be your pet, as long as it's not an exotic creature, which only higher level beast master talent specced Hunters can use.

I've got a survival specced hunter at 80, using a wolf. That's the ideal setup for raids last I checked. I advise you to level with the beastmaster talents mostly though, it'll make it much easier for you untill you hit level 80. A terrorsaur is the best beastmaster pet, you'll probably encounter one at around level 50-55.

Hunter is a very fun class to play, though I've been more interested in my orc warrior, who I'm levelling as a tank.

Well, right now my Night Elf hunter is level 10 go that could take a while :biglaugh:
I can't be bothered staying in one area to kill low level beasts to level up. However, to me it seems the game is designed that way because venturing out all alone on low-level is NOT rewarding (unless you consider a garden on your stomach a reward :lmao: )

Anyone one the mainland playing today? Got a character running around in Eldrassil? I'll be online from aprox 20:00h CET. My Dark NightElf character's name is Rales. Maybe we can team up?

Hi. Levelling up just by killing other things is not very efficient and will take much longer than if you do quests. Many quests will ask you to kill x amount of monsters, so you might as well be killing things for a quest because not only will you gain xp from killing things but you will also gain a nice chunk of bonus xp and probably some sort of reward when you hand your quest in upon completion.

When the enemies in your area become too low level you should then move to the next region to continue your questing. You should usually be somewhere between level 10-12 when you leave Teldrassil. You then have a choice to go to Darkshore, Westfall, Loch Modan or even the Draenei area if you want. Usually going to quest NPCs and accepting their quests will eventually lead you on to a new area.

Take it from me. The Draenei starting area is AMAZING for fast leveling to 20. It really just made the old areas look so...old in every way. There's an incredible quest density in Bloodmyst, to the point that you can reach level 20 in one or two sittings, and it's a fairly small and contained area that doesn't require you to travel miles and miles like Darkshore.

That's true, and another tip for levelling quickly. Whenever I start a new character, I always grind mobs untill I reach level 2 or 3 before starting any of the quests there, I usually finish the newbie-zones at level 7 or 8 instead of 5-6. The Draenei area is especially good for that because of the reasons mentioned above.

Yeah, I kinda figured that out but I see everyone around me hacking into low-level beasts. Thanks for the tip!

I'd like to add my agreement with the above posters who suggested Azuremyst/Bloodmyst as the better levelling zones. Darkshore is very long and you'll do an enormous amount of running backwards and forwards. Westfall is dull IMO. The quests are boring and the mobs svck. The only reason I'd quest in Westfall is for the blue reward at the end of the big questline there.

Oh don't get me started on those liverless pigs!

If you're interested in easy blue items though, you'll get some from doing random isntances (You get a bag of loot when you're done) that can be very helpfull or at least net you some extra cash. Not sure what level you need to be for them to start appearing, I assume somewhere around 20-25 for blue items to appear in the bag.

I agree about Draenei's area being the best to starting zone. It was a nice touch to have all the quest givers throw a farewell party when you leave the island. Horde side I would have to say Forsaken have the best starting zones. The quests aren't that far apart and most of them aren't that hard. Although in Silverpine Forest you have to watch out for that Level 20 elite if you take a shortcut to the Sepulchre.

For leveling up at level 15 and above you can use the Looking for Dungeon tool. It puts a group together to run a dungeon. This is where you will find the best gear. If that doesn't suit you there are pvp battlegrounds. Warsong Gulch (my favorite) is a 10 vs. 10 Capture the Flag match. You get honor and tokens which can be used to buy gear for your character.

Hello all! I have a dwarf by the name of Lingroth, on the Wyrmrest Accord server. He luckily has BoA's, and I plan to tank with him at level 20 if anyone is interested. I would have more characters, but my account got hacked....

Is that a US or EU server?

At any rate, sorry about your account, I hope you enjoy tanking. I've been levelling an Orc Warrior on and off through isntance tanking almost exclusively, though I do have dual specs so I can quest quickly as well. Tanking is really fun, at least for me who played dps exclusively for four years. Have fun :)

I got my Death Knight to level 80 and have been grinding heroics for badges. Shame I had to spend all my gold on epic flying because some of the 264 plate items go for next to nothing on Cho'gall. In a few weeks I should be able to outgear my mains with the selections in the Auction House.

Lucky, most of the 264 items on my server go for between 3 and 8k gold depending on the item.
