Alright, I have a bit of a problem.
My good friend (level 72 DK) started playing again, and I (level 71 hunter) decided that it would be fun to do a couple of randoms with him every week. Now here's the problem: he's convinced that he is the godliest tank to ever exist. Except that he is unholy specced, and can't hold aggro worth a damn. He gets pissed at the rest of the group when we wipe due to his terrible tanking. It got so bad one time that the healer was giving him tips on tanking. Now this isn't something that I haven't said anything about to him. I've made it quite clear that he needs to learn how to tank, or just stick to being a DPS, but he is dead set on tanking. I can't just stop grouping with him, because he's been a close friend for years and he'll see through one of my lame-ass excuses that I'll make. I also can't just say something like "Jesus Christ man learn to tank or just shut the hell up and do your job as a DPS" because he's quite sensitive and doesn't respond to criticism well.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

Well, it's no secret that Unholy is the best DPS spec for a DK at the moment. Frost DW is great, too. Frost is best for tanking, though. Frost and Blood are both great for tanking. Unholy not so much. Tell him that. There is no reason for him to "stick" with blood.
If he went Frost, or Blood, and added in the frost tank talents, he'd be a great tank, AND great DPS when solo'ing quest. A blood DK with heart strike, and increased armor, is nigh unstoppable grinding to 80.

I'd say tell him that he needs to learn how to tank, if he's a close friend of yours then he should be able to survive the revelation that he's not the best tank in the game. Give him some pointers, teach him what being a tank is all about. If he refuses to listen, then there's really nothing you can do. If he gets angry at the group because he can't tank, then I really don't have any sympathy, he has nobody but himself to blame.. I'm playing a Warrior tank at the moment, and I love it, it's said to be the most complicated tank class but it really isn't difficult at all, tanking really is no problem at all. And this is my first tank character, I played DPS exclusively for 4 years.

In completely unrelated news:

I've faction changed my Hunter (Bownage) and Warrior (Warpants) back to Alliance. Me and some friends played Alliance for about 4 years, then changed to horde and played for a while, but then we missed Alliance a bit, so we all changed our characters back. One of my friends never followed us to Horde, so being able to play with him again now is also nice, and a friend of mine who stopped playing about a year ago maybe has started again on Alliance. So WoW is fairly fun now, especially since Warpants is starting to get some decent gear together, just a few more items from emblems and the new heroics and I'll be ready to start raiding TOC and ICC, I probably should try VoA soon to get the feel for raid tanking.

EDIT: Oh by the way, could you add my warrior's armory link to the first post. Character is named Warpants.

I'll probably start playing WoW again over summer, to get ready for Cataclysm.
Should be fun.

I haven't played WoW since mid February but, I've been following everything on MMOchamp. Some of the changes (well all actually) look really badass.
I honestly can't wait to see what all comes out. I mean, it makes me mad though. I did freakin' Ulduar 10 hard modes to get my proto drake 310% speed just so I could be a badass flying around Azeroth. Then I can't play at all now. :(

Worgens look pretty cool, I'm going to play as one, or at least try one.

I've been playing a Night Elf Rouge, right now I have leatherworking and Skinning as profession but I'm finding them kinda useless right now. I was think of doing herbalism and alchemy since I seem to need potions to stay alive when I'm on my own. Suggestions?

I have a feeling a ton of people will be playing as the worgen.

I'll probably continue with my human pally. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Windrunner&cn=Suffca

I got a Human Pally also, hell I got 5 different toons.

Night Elf Rouge (my main)
Human Paladin
Undead Warlock
Draenei Shaman
Troll Hunter

My Rouge is Lv 27 and my Warlock is Lv 11 and the rest are all under 5, I'll play em eventually.

I'll make a Worgen character I think, at least to experience their starting zone, I'll do the same with a Goblin. I might race change my warrior to Worgen as well, or possibly my death knight...man, Worgen DK would look [censored] awesome :P

EDIT: Wow, I'm looking at the updated models on MMO-champion, and it's incredible. Almost every model is being overhauled and the overall quality has increased a lot, the new models look great. Head over to http://www.mmo-champion.com/ and scroll down a bit, there's an article with new models pretty far up on the page, and then one a bit longer down.

So let me get this straight, isn't the Worgen starting zone right next to Undercity? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not exactly. The Worgens tart in Gilneas, if you go all the way to the southern end of Silverpine forest, there's a huge gate called the Greyman wall, beyond that gate lies Gilneas. So it's south of Silverpine basically.

I'm really looking forward to the next big event, the reclaiming og Gnomeregan and Echo isles. Gnomes and Trolls are getting their own capitals, it's fairly old news but in case anyone didn't know it's apparently happening soon, or right before Cataclysm launches. And it looks like it'll be awesome, I can't wait to go reclaim Gnomeregan with my fellow gnomes :D

There's some new Worgen gameplay on youtube. Can't link it since I'm at school right now.

I can't wait for that, should be a blast, it's all the motivation I need to level up a Gnome to 75-80.

Edit.

Also, I want a Mini-Thor pet.

Damn, really shouldn't start game threads when I'm not around much anymore; adding anybody that I missed over the past few days or weeks.

I or someone else can probably start the next thread if you're not going to be on much anyway.

Oh, I changed my Gnome Warrior to a female Draenei... :P I got tired of being so small, there was times when tanking it was a problem to see stuff clearly, especially in cramped places when I was so small, mostly though I just wanted a different look. I know humans or dwarves are the best races for tanks, but I went with Draenei as I don't see many Draenei warriors, and I find humans and dwarves kind of boring compared to the other races. I'll definately be levelling a Worgen though, I'm not changing Warpants again as I've started working in the Argent tournament achievments and I don't want to lose them again :P My Orc Hunter had everything related to the tournament, and when I faction changed to Alliance I lost it all, oh well, still got the mount and the tabards, just not the titles and achievements.

So I'm doing it all again on my warrior, as well as getting better gear together and doing old daily quests for the Shattered Sun tabard, so I've got enough to do :P

I have no intention of making a worgen when Cata comes round. I'm going to get my DK to 80 (currrently 72) and leave it at that. I just can't face starting from level 1 all over again. If I ever make a new character it would be a gnome, because I don't have a lvl 80 gnome.

Really looking forward to the Cata event and all the changes to Azeroth though, will be fun.

Well, all the quests in Azeroth will be changed as well, not just the look. that's why I'm levelling another character, to experience the new Azeroth fully. I will level my Warrior to 85 first though I think.

I've got three level 80's now, two of which I levelled from 1-80. A warrior, hunter and DK. I don't know, I don't mind levelling. I make up a backstory for my character, I use heirloom gear to level quicker and I usually listen to podcasts or music when playing, so it's not boring to me. Normally WoW is something I do to have something to actually do while listening to a podcast, mostly Transmission Awesome.

I decided to start back up after two months. I want to check out the battle for the new capital cities when it happens. Don't know if I should shake the rust off with my 80 lock, 80 spriest, 80 dk, or my 77 pally.

Was checking out screenshots from people with the Beta. I'm really starting to like the goblins. Their golf course makes me want to join a country club.
