I never understood why there wasn't a bash lock ability. Give it to warriors and have one of the items inside the chest get damaged like in NWN. How often do you run across a rogue in random dungeons? Especially if you use the lfd tool for heroics.

That's a good point, and it would be cool. But at higher levels, in my experience at least, you almost never find lockboxes. So I'm not sure if there's enough demand for it to be implemented.

Something I would really like though, was if we could have a cross-server friend list. When we use random dungeon finder we're teamed up with people in our battlegroup, it would be nice if I could add some of them as friends to play with them again. I met a lot of nice people through random dungeons and I'd like to be able to play more with them. It'll probably be difficult to implement properly though, but it would be nice.

Only way to get lockboxes at 80 (aside from the extremely rare occasions when one drops in a dungeon) is to be a Rogue and pickpocket humanoids.
Some of the BoE epics out of those boxes used to sell extremely high. Avool's Sword of Jin for one, I remember that sold for a good 5 - 6k at WotLK launch.

I only recently started WoW.

I don't have a lot of time to play it, but I usually fit an hour or two in, here and there.

I've started playing on a warrior alt again, here's an armory link:

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Twilight%27s+Hammer&cn=Warpants

It hasn't updated yet, but I got the heirloom axe with crusader enchant earlier today :) I'm wreaking havoc in ashenvale.

It's not important, but 100 health on chest is really good for the heirloom chestpiece. I had a paladin alt with about 400hp at level 8 - 9. Makes being bottom bracket in the 10 - 19 PvP range a lot easier.

Of course, that's only if you plan on PvPing or tanking (Tank in the Dungeon Tool is an amazingly fast way of leveling)

Well I did what I thought I'd never do, and tried the WoW trial last week. My sister and her boyfriend play it, along with his uncle and a couple of their friends, so knowing I like games and certain MMORPGs they got me to try it.

I'm now hooked :) This game is a lot better than I expected. I'm still not a fan of the graphics, but they've grown on me to a point where I now appreciate them for what they are.

I have to say though, being a veteran of clasic Everquest and Dark Age Of Camelot, that WoW is really damned easy. Maybe it wasn't always this way, but I get pointers telling me exactly where to go for quests, the death penalty is virtually non-existant, and soloing so far is very easy.

I did happen to start playing at a good time too, with the Love Is In The Air event taking place. I've gained a ton of XP from those daily quests.

I'm also on a PvP server which is pretty fun and frustrating.

Adding the new folks to the list...sorry I wasn't around past 2 days, had to go down to Ft. Jackson to see my bro graduate from BT. :)

Ha, you sound like you would have liked early WoW. Back when you had to haul your ass all the way to dungeons and battlemasters, you had to find [censored] on your own, and it was impossible to find groups for several instances. Good times...:P

There are things I liked about early WoW, like the difficulty, which kept it exciting for me. Maybe it was more of that sense of accomplishment because stuff took so long to do, and everything was still new.

They've made a ton of improvements since then, thankfully, but it has made the game a lot quicker/easier.

The only 'improvement' they've made that I hate is the LFG system. I'm fine with multi-realm players, but the instant teleport completely destroyed the sense of accomplishment and fun from the entire thing. Yeah, it's easy, but it's waaaaaay too easy.

IMO.

Started playing again, after a 2-3 month absence. Made a rogue on Sunday, played him until Tuesday, and got him up to le.vel 16. Oh, and he looks like Kyle Gass.

Yeah I was really disappointed when I was invited to a guild group and could instantly teleport to the dungeon. I thought we'd all have to travel there like all the other MMORPGs I've played.

But on a PvP server it can often be a good thing :)

Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna do that as I am currently levelling by tanking in the random finder...god I'm sick to death of Gnomeregan and SM Graveyard :P

EDIT: In regards to the graphics. I can't imagine this game having a different art style, it just wouldn't be Warcraft. The graphics are very similar to those to of Warcraft 3 and that adds a lot of charm to the game I think, the Warcraft universe always had a very distinct artstyle that was kind of on the fence between realism and cartoon, and I love it.

I don't personally find the graphics even that bad. I'd be pissed if Blizz ever tried to change them.

I actually think lots of people are really hoping hard that Cataclysm will see them at least update the old races. You don't have to change the art style, but there is a very clear difference in the detail of the Burning Crusade races compared to the originals, and even more between the Cataclysm races and originals.

I'd love to see them update the models (and textures, oh god the textures) to be more in line with recent content.

I agree with this, I think the graphics in BC and WOTLK are much more pleasing to look at than original WoW models, and with the drastic changes to the old zones we will at least see a signifigant improval in terrain and world models at least. Apart from that, I don't think the character models are bad, but of course I wouldn't mind if they got updated a bit.

Just look at the Goblins. The playable ones look great, the ones we have no look pretty bad. Same was true for high elves/blood elves before BC came out, but now any high elf NPC looks like a BC blood elf only with blue eyes. I'm expecting them to update the graphics at least a little. Though I play with everything except texture resolution on the lowest setting for optimal performance.

Yeah, it seems that there is 1 face and 2 skin colors for goblins right now. They'll improve that, I'm sure.

There's plenty of screen shots on the official site, the change is huge and they look much better in Cataclysm.

EDIT: http://www.necromag.co.uk/wp-content/uploads//2009/08/800px-Cataclysm_Goblin_Priest_Mage_and_Warlock.jpg a screen of three goblins and a Hobgoblin in the background. The Hobgoblin is basically a slave you can send to the bank every 30 min if I remember correctly. One of the goblin racials.

Yeah, I saw that on the WoW site a little while back. Goblins are going to be beast. They get the best deals with all vendors, no matter what rep they have, and some other ability called Time is Money that I can't remember what all it does.

What do you guys think about Gnomergan and the Echo Isles being taken back by their rightful owners? After 5 years the Gnomes and Trolls are finally getting their own capitols.
http://www.mmo-champion.com - Has all the info.

edit: Alatur, Time is Money is 1% haste to autoattack. (I think it counts for casting as well)

I think I'm going to go Syndicate on my rogue, since Ravenholdt doesn't have much use. I'm still pissed at them for killing me as soon as I walked into their base for no reason...

Ravenholdt is where you go for the Rogue quests. The only way to get rep with the Syndicate is to farm Ravenholdt members for days on end. And still, there's no Syndicate NPC's you can talk to.

I can't currently play WoW time ran out and my net connection for the moment is like 1200 ms latency. =/ So terrible.
I've been watching the updates for patch 3.3.3 though, seems really cool.
And on the topic of integrating new updates for the player textures of old races, I am 90% sure they will. That'd be a bit odd this late into the game to NOT change it to everything else' standards, and they stated at blizzcon that the graphics are getting updated pretty heavily, so.
